Suggested January 2024 Top Tips And Tricks To Be A Better Iphoneographer
I know the line is getting old, but I’ll repeat it here once again: “The best camera in the world is the one that you have with you.” Even a US$10,000 camera is useless if you don’t bring it with you when you see a moment worth snapping. That’s why many people replace pocket cameras with smartphone’s cameras. And because the iPhone camera is among the best of the best camera phones available, iPhone Photography quickly has become an art itself. They call it iPhoneography.
Here are several things that you can do to get better photos with your iPhone.
The HardwareAs Apple continuously improves iPhone cameras with each iteration, it’s only logical that the newer your iPhone is, the better photo result you will get. But you can get even better photos if you use additional tools. They are optional, but obtaining a few (or all) of them doesn’t hurt either.
Tripod, Monopod, and other PodsCarrying extra load might not be the idea of fun photography, but if you want to take better photos, you really could use the help of one of the pods to steady the camera. A tripod is an obvious choice, but even the smaller monopod – that is commonly used to take selfies – can help set your iPhone into a steadier stance. You can also try one of those flexible, portable tripods.
Special LensesThe popularity of the iPhone camera has bred several special clip-on lenses that you can use to create different perspectives of your shots. The most popular types of these lenses are fisheye, wide, and macro.
RemoteSometimes you need to put your camera away, and the shutter button is out of your hand’s reach: for example, when you need to take a selfie. You can do away with the camera timer, but the process will be easier if you have a remote shutter. The volume up button on your earphone can be your wired remote shutter button. Or, if you prefer no cable, you can acquire the bluetooth connected type.
The SoftwareThe software part is as important as the hardware part in helping you get better pictures, both in taking the photos and editing them.
Camera SoftwaresThe latest rendition of Apple’s camera app is a solid one with enough features to satisfy most users. But there are alternative camera apps that you can try, such as Camera+ (US$2.99), VSCO Cam (free), Manual (US$2.99), and Slow Shutter Cam (US$1.99).
Picture Editing SoftwareWhat do you do with your pictures after you take them? You can edit them for better results – adjusting the color, cropping the image, adding filters, etc. There are literary tons of image editing apps available for iPhone, and it’s impossible to mention even a fraction of them. So I’ll just list two that I use: Snapseed (free) and Photolab (US$3.99)
The Basic Photography TechniquesKnowing few basic photography techniques won’t suddenly turn you into a pro, but it can improve your shots a lot. Among many, here are several that I think are easy enough to learn and applicable to amateur iPhoneographers.
CompositionAmateurs tend to put their photo objects in the center. While there’s nothing wrong with that, your pictures will look better and more natural if you use the rule of thirds and golden ratio to compose your photos. There are many references that you can find on the Internet about them, but here is the gist of it.
To use the rule of thirds, imagine that there are four lines (two down and two across) that divide your screen equally into nine areas. Align your subject(s) with the lines and intersections and you will be amazed at the result.
Your iPhone camera app doesn’t come with the golden ratio feature, but Camera Awesome (free) does.
Lights and ShadowsBased on my amateurish iPhoneography experiment, you will get a better image with the light source in front of your subject and no nearby wall behind to show cast shadow. Also, natural daylight will always yield better results than non-natural light sources.
But that doesn’t mean that you can’t bend the rules. Experiment a lot to try to create different effects. Strong backlight covered by the object can create a great silhouette effect. You can also play with the shadow created by strong light.
FocusIt’s evident that out-of-focus photographs will never be the ones that you’re proud of, but you can use out-of-focus foreground and background to create the sense of depth. While it’s common knowledge that you can tap on an object on the iPhone screen to focus on it, not many of us know that you can lock the focus by doing a tap and hold.

Freely withdraw the BAT you have in your Brave rewards wallet
Sync BAT tokens between mobile and PC
Receive rewards directly in the custodial wallet
Do note that you will need to provide identification cards and details to create a verified account in these two wallets. Once you are on board, here’s how you can link verified wallets:
Step 1: Create an account with Uphold or Gemini. On the phone, only Uphold is available as of yet.
Note: Uphold will require a minimum balance of two BAT tokens to link with Brave.
Step 2: Open Brave Settings and Go to Brave Rewards.
Step 5: Choose Gemini or Uphold Wallet.
Brave will show a message that you need a minimum balance of 2 BAT to connect your account if you choose Uphold.

IPFS is a Web3 decentralized technology that hosts and stores files and data in nodes instead of servers. Nodes are all the different computers using IPFS. It allows files and any content stored or hosted on IPFS to be easily accessible, resistant to tampering, and prevents censorship of content.
Brave has built-in support to open IPFS hashes. Just type ipfs:// followed by the hash to access the file. It will use the public gateway to access the file. Brave also allows you to create a local node within the browser.
Here’s how to use IPFS in Brave in detail.

Sea Of Thieves Tips And Tricks
After playing Sea of Thieves for a couple of days, It’s pretty interesting to learn things that can shape how you play the game. I had played with 4 crew, 2 crew, and even solo to understand how things are managed. In this post, I am sharing my bit of experience that should help you as well.
Sea of Thieves Tips and TricksBefore you set sail, Stock up! If you have read out the guide to getting started with Sea of Thieves, you already know where I am pointing you to. Planks, Bananas, and Canon Balls are three important resources you will need every time. Every Player has the capacity to carry a few of them, and so every time you start, first move around the outpost to pick whatever number is possible for you. Eventually, you will have to make it a habit to keep collecting them.
Keep collecting these resources, especially bananas, from every island you visit.
On the ship, you will have barrels. Go to them, and you can store if they are not full.
Make sure to keep planks, and bananas always with you. This is very handy when your ship is hit or you get badly hurt in the battle.
How to Sail the Ship! There are three major parts of the ship. The Sail, Anchor and the Compass. When it comes to bigger ships, you have three sails, and for smaller ones, you have just one. So, it is easy to understand the difficulty of managing them, and you will need at least one two people managing those three sails all the time.
When you look at the sky, there are curvy white lines moving around. These are winds, and they give you a clear sense of their direction. Depending on how far you want to go, angle and deploy the length of your sales before pulling up the anchor.
Anchors can be dropped or pulled up. Dropping part is easy, it takes a second, so always make sure whoever is navigating, has one person on the anchor when it’s time. Pulling up the anchor takes more time.
Use the Anchor to take a steep turn. This is my favorite thing to do whenever I feel like taking a steep U-turn or when I want to skip some cannonballs. When your helm is set for the turn, you drop the anchor and feel the torque.
To figure out if the Helm is at the central position, wait for the vibration when you are steering it.
You will have to estimate Ship’s speed based on its size. Smaller ships are faster because the drag doesn’t hit them that much compared to larger ships. However, larger ships sail much faster compared to smaller ones with the wind.
Make sure one person or yourself (when sailing alone) keep a check on the direction by looking at the map table. Especially in storms when the compass on the Helm doesn’t work, the table map is the only way out. You can always use LEFT and RIGHT in that case.
Never anchor your ship in case of a Storm. You will end up getting your ship flooded. Make sure to keep getting water thrown out during these times.
Learn how to change & buy weapons in Sea of ThievesYou have two weapons when you start. One is the trusty cutlass, and the second is the flintlock pistol. I only realized later that you could choose different weapons from the “Armory” cabinet. It’s located on the ship on the first level. and can also be found on islands here, and there, but the Ship is probably the best place to do it. It also acts as storage to choose from all the weapons you buy from the Outpost.
There are two more weapons in the armory. A short-range canon, which is just like a shotgun, and a long ranged rifle. While you can swap them, I would suggest having the sword all the time with you and switching to the short-range canon, also called “Blunderbuss. Follow the steps:
Navigate to an Armory cabinet that is on the ship, and press X to open the Armory.
You can navigate between the weapon categories using LB and RB.
Press A to equip a weapon and then select the slot or weapon to replace.
Leveling up for Legendary Quests:Quests are the sole of Sea of Thieves. Everything else is cosmetic and changes. As you complete more voyages, you level up based on the type of quests. There are three types of level-up. The first is for Gold Quests, the second is for Merchant-based quests, and the last one is for Order of Souls. As you level up, you can buy more rewarding quests. So focus on it.
I am guessing Rare, will bring more updates to the game, so till then, concentrate on leveling up, and completing more voyages.
Selling Chests Safely:The chests you collect can be taken by another pirate if he is not in the crew. Many a time, I have seen a few ships around and then attack you to grab all the chest and treasure you collect. You have to be very careful about it. There are two ways of doing this.
First, every time you collect a chest, get back to the outpost quickly and sell it. Make sure there is no other ship parked, if yes, be careful, and use water to get to the gold merchant.
Second, you can keep a couple of quests handy, and if the islands are nearby on the new map, complete them while on the go. This is efficient, but the risks are a little higher. Your experience will come in handy.
Battling the Ships:It happens from time to time – but you have to decide based on your ship size and your skill. Small ships can escape faster and take steep turns. While Bigger ships have more firepower and more crew members. You can always engage for fun; you have nothing to lose except for the chest, choose wisely!
Everything else:You can refill your gun by going back to the Armory box every time you run out of bullets. Guns are the easiest way to take out an enemy, but they are limited as well. So make sure to refill.
If you are accidentally left by your crew mate or you fell off the ship, you will see a creepy-looking mermaid in the seawater. Just go to her, and she will get you back to the ship.
Many don’t realize, but you have access to compass, and spyglass to find your direction and spot an enemy. You will often forget where your ship is, and using a compass helps.
Learn to use Charge attack using the right trigger. It’s useful when you need to take down the captains, and If you ever face an annoying crew mate, Lock him Down. Find this option in the menu. Crew members will have to vote.

20 Tips And Tricks For Apple Pencil To Use Like A Pro
If you haven’t yet had the epiphany that you’re holding a powerful tool when holding an Apple Pencil, you’re certainly missing something. Don’t worry. These Apple Pencil tips and tricks will help you connect the dots.
And even if you already love the iPad stylus, this article can help you see what you’re missing. Let’s not waste any more time and get on with it.
Basics to know about Apple PencilApple Pencil will greatly ease your day-to-day work, whether you are an artist or a businessman. It could aid in drawing, note-taking, digital signatures, relaxation, and more. But before we dip into that pool, let’s get the basics out of the way.
Connect your Apple Pencil to the iPad
Apple Pencil (1st Gen) – Unlock iPad → connect via Lightning pair → tap Pair.
Apple Pencil (2nd Gen) – Unlock iPad → Attach the pencil to a magnetic strip → tap Pair.
If you face any issues with pairing, check out this guide for step-by-step tutorials.
Note: Most tips mentioned work for both Apple Pencil 1st and 2nd generation. If a trick does not support both, it will be clearly mentioned.
Best Apple Pencil tips for drawing
For many, the iPad and Apple Pencil are only for designers (graphic, interior, jewelry, fashion, etc.) or artists who need to draw, sketch, color, render, etc. And while not limited to these people, Apple Pencil makes their jobs much smoother.
And if you’re a budding or established designer/artist or new iPad user, here are some hacks to improve your drawing skill and speed.
1. Achieve perfect shadingThe ‘pencil’ in its name is more than a namesake. And at times like this, it behaves like a real-life pencil. When you are drawing or sketching, tilt the Apple Pencil to shade.
Furthermore, it also responds to the pressure, so you can darken or lighten the stroke accordingly, like a real-life pencil. While it works amazingly smoothly, you might have to practice to get the hang and master the skill.
2. Draw perfect shapesA part of the Scribble feature introduced in iPadOS 14. It enables the supported app to recognize the shape you’ve drawn via Apple Pencil and correct it, whether it’s a circle, square, star, heart, or hand.
Open the app and select the pen tool.
Start drawing the desired shape, but pause before you finish the shape.
iPad will get the signal and replace the shape with a perfect one.
Notably, if you do not pause before completing the shape, it will not be corrected and will remain as is. This allows users to draw random, rough shapes if they want to. And if you pause too early, the shape might not be recognized and hence not corrected.
3. Use Markup to draw a straight lineDrawing a super-straight line could be difficult, no matter how steady your hand is. But it’s a child’s play if you know this hack.
In a supported app, open the Markup tool.
Now select the ruler tool from the options menu (bottom right).
Place the ruler at the desired place and angle.
Select the pen/marker and trace the ruler’s edge.
4. Trace drawingsDid you know that the iPad will register Apple Pencil strokes, even if a thin paper is on the screen? Well, it does, and you can use the feature to your benefit.
Supposedly, you have a sketch that you need to transfer onto the iPad. You can either scan the sheet or:
Open the drawing sheet (Notes or any other app you prefer).
Select the pen or marker.
Place the sheet on the iPad and use tape to hold the paper in place.
Take your Apple Pencil and start tracing the sketch.
5. Stop finger interferenceHave children or naughty colleagues who can interrupt or want the Apple Pencil to have full control? Try this hack. The setting will only allow the Apple Pencil to draw and won’t register the finger moments.
Notably, this is only applicable when the Apple Pencil is connected to the iPad. You can still scroll using your fingers but not draw or write something.
Go to Settings → Apple Pencil.
Toggle on Only Draw with Apple Pencil.
The setting works in Notes, Photos, or anywhere else you use the Markup tools. To disable the setting, follow the steps above and toggle it off.
6. Insert a drawing into the emailThe feature has been part of the default Mail app since iOS 11 but is a bit hidden. So, many iPad users don’t know that it exists.
Launch the Mail app.
Compose new or reply to an existing mail.
Double-tap with Apple Pencil anywhere to bring up the options menu.
Tap the arrow to see more options.
Select Insert Drawing.
You can also go to the Markup tools → choose the tool → draw or sketch → tap Done → tap Insert Drawing. To make any changes, tap the drawing in the email and the Markup icon.
Hacks to crack note-taking with Apple Pencil
To know what you’re missing, go to Pinterest or YouTube and search for iPad note-taking. You’ll find some talented artists brewing frame-worthy notes. And while that might not be the target for you and me, we can make decent and quick notes with these tips.
7. Use Apple Pencil even if the iPad is lockedWhile Quick Note is a boon, you also have a quicker way to jot down notes directly from the Lock screen. When you’re in a hurry, tap, hold (for a millisecond), and release the Apple Pencil on the Lock Screen. A fresh note will appear on the screen, so right or draw away.
To enable the feature:
Go to Settings → Notes.
Toggle On the switch next to Access Notes from the Lock Screen.
Incredibly, while you can create a new note without unlocking the device, you won’t be able to access the previous notes. So, rest assured all your data is secured.
8. Quick NoteIntroduced in iPadOS 15, Quick Note allows you to call upon a fresh or existing note anytime by swiping inward from the bottom right corner of your iPad screen. Notably, it works over any and all apps, so you don’t have to leave the current app to make a note.
And the best part is that Quick Note is aware of the app you’re using. So, when you open Quick Note alongside Safari, an Add Link button appears. Or, when you long-press the selected text, an Add to Quick Note option is available in the menu.
Check out our complete guide on using Quick Note to make the most of this feature.
9. Master ScribbleScribble has manifold the power and ease of the Apple Pencil. I’ve already introduced how it helps you draw the perfect shape, which is just the tip of the iceberg.
Convert handwriting to text
As the name suggests, the feature lets you scribble out things using Apple Pencil. And the iPad auto-converts your handwriting to typed text. Incredibly, it’s not just limited to a single app. In fact, you can scribble in any text field like the Safari address bar, online forms, messages, etc.
For text fields, simply write the text with Apple Pencil. However, for taking Notes, select the Markup toolbar and the Handwriting tool.
Bonus Tip: Have previously handwritten notes you want to convert into text?
Pick the selection tool from the Markup tools and encircle the text.
Long-press to invoke the options menu and select Copy as Text.
Scribble gestures
You can not just write but also edit or manage the text with some simple gestures:
Select a word – Double-tap or circle the word.
Select text – Underline or circle the text.
Insert text – Long-press in the text area and write in the space that opens.
Delete – Scratch the word out.
Join or separate characters – Draw a vertical line between them.
Select a paragraph – Triple-tap any word within the paragraph or slide the Apple Pencil from the start to the end.
Moreover, Scribble can recognize handwritten addresses, phone numbers, dates, etc. It will give them a yellow underline as a sign of recognition.
When you tap the underlined text, a contextual menu with connecting actions will pop up. For instance, call or message a phone number, add the date to the calendar, etc
10. Markup screenshots and documentsWhile taking screenshots on an iPad is super simple (and I have a special trick for that mentioned below), marking them is quite easy, thanks to the built-in Markup tools.
Simply tap the Markup tool, select the pen/marker you prefer, choose the color and write or draw away.
11. Sign documents on the goYou’ll probably know that you can scan documents via the Notes and Files app on an iPad. But that’s not it. Using the Markup tool, you can digitally sign the document wherever and whenever.
Open the document in Photos, Notes, or Files.
Tap the Markup tool icon.
Select + icon and then Signature.
Now, use your Apple Pencil to sign the document.
You can also save multiple signatures and use them as required, check out this article to learn everything you can do with the feature.
12. Search handwritten notesWhile not really an Apple Pencil hack, but worth mentioning in the section. A smart-on-device intelligence allows the iPad to search almost anything in notes, whether handwritten text, text in scanned documents, tags, mentions, and objects within images.
How to get the most out of my Apple Pencil
13. Take a screenshot with Apple PencilOh yes! Your Apple Pencil can do that too. Swipe up from the bottom left corner of the screen using the Apple Pencil, and tada!
Notably, you can resize, Markup/annotate, share, use Live text, and easily manage the screenshot’s opacity. Once finished, tap Done and save the screenshot to Photos/Files or Delete it.
Furthermore, if you take a screenshot of a Safari page, you can tap the Full Page option from the top to capture the complete webpage and save it as a PDF.
14. Change Apple Pencil quick gesturesSwipping in from the left side for screenshots and the right side for Quick Note is the iPad’s version of the Hot Corners. But if you’re a leftie/rightie and want to interchange the quick gestures, here’s how you can:
Go to Settings → Apple Pencil.
Under Pencil Gestures, select the Quick Gesture you want.
You can choose to turn off the gestures entirely; just select Off.
15. Customize double-tap featuresLike AirPods, the Apple Pencil 2nd Gen has a sensor near its tip. You can perform certain actions when you double-tap the sensor. By default, it switches you back to the last used tool. However, you can change the setting.
Go to Settings → Apple Pencil.
Under the Double Tap section, choose one of the following
Switch between current tool and eraser
Switch between current tool and last used
Show color palette
Off
Notably, The double-tap feature is limited to supportive apps like Notes.
Works with:
1st Gen ❌
2nd Gen ✅
16. Adjust Palm RejectionBy default, the Palm Rejection is turned on with Apple Pencil, i.e., if your palm touches the screen while using Apple Pencil, that won’t be registered.
However, that might not be befitting of your writing/drawing posture. The good news is that you can adjust the setting for third-party apps like Procreate, Good Notes, etc. Just go to the settings section of the app to adjust it.
17. Switch the tip regularlyThe best way to know is if the tip feels rough while writing or sketching. We have covered the whole procedure in detail. Check out this article on when and how to replace your Apple Pencil tip.
18. Manage Apple Pencil battery efficientlyHow tragic would the situation be that it is out of battery when you need the Apple Pencil the most? While you can go to Settings → Apple Pencil to check its battery, the best way is through the battery widget.
Long-press any app → select Edit Home Screen → In the jiggle mode, tap + from the upper-left corner. Here, find and add the battery widget to the Home Screen.
19. Keep your Apple Pencil securelyIf you have a case or cover for the iPad that houses the Apple Pencil, it is a win-win situation. However, if that’s not the case or your iPad is fixed on a stand on your desk, you might need extra protection for the Apple Pencil.
If you need assistance finding a case, cover, or sleeve for your Apple Pencil, check out our guide. You can also opt for a stand or holder to safely store your Apple Pencil when not in use.
20. Find a lost Apple PencilWhile I don’t hope such a scenario happens, we should always be prepared for the worst. Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t support Find My, so that’s a sad Tweet.

Tips, Tricks And Troubleshooting Guide For Apple’s Airpods
I’ve found Apple’s AirPods to be a decent all-round pair of wireless earbuds, and in the short time I’ve had them, they’ve become my daily drivers. While the reviews are … let’s called them mixed, there’s no doubt the AirPods are stirring up a conversation about a wireless future. But with any revolution, there’s bound to be a few issues, too. This article will detail common problems and troubleshooting tips as well as general tips to get the most out of your AirPods.
Common Problems and TroubleshootingMy AirPods won’t pair. – While most of the time the pairing action of opening the case and being set to go is seamless, sometimes the pairing won’t complete. Toggle Bluetooth on and off, and press the button on the back of the AirPods case.
My AirPods aren’t recognizing that they’re in my ears. – Jiggle and tap the AirPods until you hear the confirming tone.
Music is playing through my iPhone speakers, not my AirPods. – Be sure to tap AirPods on the AirPlay menu. Not that it’s complicated, it’s just a heavily overlooked solution.
My AirPods case isn’t charging. – A common problem with iOS devices that live in your pockets; verify that the lighting port is clear of pocket lint.
Siri isn’t activating on double-tap. – Unlock and lock your iPhone to refresh the UI and make sure the taps are fairly prominent. It’s great technology, but that doesn’t mean it’s bug-free. The “double-tap” is registered by accelerometers, so there actually has to be a decent amount of movement of the AirPods for the taps to register.
My AirPods are seemingly quiet, even with the volume maxed out. – The quickest fix I’ve found for this issue is to disconnect from your AirPods on your iPhone’s Bluetooth settings, and tap to pair again.
Music is choppy and calls drop. – Completely forget the AirPods in your Bluetooth settings rather than just disconnect. Close the case and reopen it next to your iPhone to pair again. Follow on-screen prompts, including pressing the button on the back of the AirPods’ case. Once you’re reconnected, you should be good to go. I’ve seen this issue when connecting to a Mac and switching back to my iPhone.
Tips and TricksSiri Commands – While the double-tap is the only available gesture, which by default activates Siri, Siri can do many tasks you could otherwise perform on an iOS music app. Say, “Press play,” “press pause,” “skip this track,” “add this song to my library,” and more.
Repurpose the double-tap – In your Bluetooth settings tap the info icon next to AirPods for a few options. From here, under “double-tap on AirPods” you can choose Siri, Play/Pause, or off.
Battery Percentage View – Swipe left to view your widgets on your iOS home screen to see AirPods’ battery percentage or simply open the case to view it on the home screen. On Apple Watch, swipe up to view control center, tap on battery percentage, and you can now view your AirPods battery percentage.
Not Your AirPods – If the AirPods case is opened next to an iOS device not under your Apple ID, the screen will display “not your AirPods.” Now, even with that warning, the AirPods can still be repaired. No form of “Activation Lock” exists.
ConclusionIf you were lucky enough to get ahold of Apple’s latest vision for the future, hopefully you also learned a few new things. If your issue is not resolved, contact Apple Support. Do remember that since this is such a new product, there are bound to be a few bugs – all of which will be worked out in software updates to come. Also, more and more audio devices using Apple’s W1 chip are in production, so there’s no doubt that this vision of the future will be expanded on.
