Buyers will look for evidence that the business is generating positive cash flow and that it is expected to grow year on year. You can increase your chances of selling your business to great buyers if you show steady improvement in your financial records.

These are some areas that could improve cash flow:

Reduce non-essential costs, e.g. Software you don’t use often or that could be cheaper elsewhere is a way to cut down on non-essential expenses.

Making sure that invoices are paid on-time and having clear procedures in place to pursue those who haven’t.

7 Ways To Reduce Your Pc’S Power Consumption

PCs use a lot of power and can contribute a good amount to your electricity bill. If you are thinking of saving on your electricity bill or looking to increase your laptop’s battery life, then you should make your PC use less power. There are many ways you can reduce power consumption of your PC, and in this post we will list seven ways to reduce PC power usage.

Note: the ways listed below are meant for PCs running Windows OS.

1. Use External Devices Only When Needed

Your PC can connect to many external devices like a printer, speakers or an external web cam. However, these devices require power to stay connected and do their job. Even if you are not using them, they will still be using power. For example, an average printer on standby can use 5 to 8 watts, and a high-end printer can go as high as 30 watts.

To save electricity, you should remove or turn off all the devices that you don’t need. We don’t recommend you remove input devices like a mouse or keyboard, but a home theater sound system definitely deserve to be switched off.

2. Adjust Windows Power Options

In Windows you can save a lot of power by tweaking Windows Power Options. Check out this tutorial for the complete guide.

3. Make Your Monitor Use Less Power

First things first. If you are still using a CRT monitor, we recommend you upgrade to an LCD monitor. LCD monitors use far less power and also offer better display quality. A 17″ CRT monitor uses 80 to 100 watts while a 17″ LCD monitor uses 25 to 30 watts.

Furthermore, you should also decrease brightness of the monitor. 100% brightness isn’t required all the time. All external monitors have buttons to adjust the brightness. On laptops there will either be separate buttons, or you will have to use the Fn key. You should also turn off the monitor display whenever you leave your PC. You can press the monitor power button or use the turn-off display button on your laptop (it’s Fn+F3 for me).

From the power options you should also configure the monitor display to turn off automatically after a specific idle time.

4. Use Sleep and Hibernate Options

It is not feasible to shut down your PC whenever you want to leave to do something else – that is why Sleep and Hibernate options are available. These two are the main power saver options that allow you to save PC power and also let you continue from where you left off.

Sleep: In sleep state almost all of the components of the PC are turned off except for the RAM. Your current session is saved in the RAM, and you can easily restore your session when you wake it up later. In sleep mode your PC will use around 5 to 15 watts of power.

Hibernate: In hibernate mode the current session is moved to your hard drive storage and saved in a chúng tôi file. The PC is then turned off completely, and you can remove the power supply. Hard drive storage doesn’t require active power to save data (unlike RAM), so it can save your current session without power.

In sleep mode your PC will take 2 to 3 seconds to restore back to your current session. However, in hibernate mode it will take a bit more time, 10 to 15 seconds on average. If you are going away for a few minutes to an hour, then the sleep option is good. If you are going away for hours, hibernate is a better option. You can also schedule automatic sleep or hibernate after a specific idle time from the power options.

5. Quit Unnecessary Programs

The programs running in your PC use resources like CPU, GPU, RAM, hard drive, etc. The more programs you open, the more work these hardware components have to do. Make sure there are no unnecessary programs running. In Windows press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Windows Task Manager. All your active applications are listed under “Applications,” and background processes are shown under the “Processes” tab.

Look for unnecessary apps and background processes in these two tabs, and use the “End Task” or “End process” button to quit them.

6. Use a Power Efficient Browser

We usually use our PC for browsing the web, and using a power efficient browser will surely help. Chrome is a great browser, but it is a huge performance hog and could lead to power drainage. You might want to fix up Chrome’s performance issues or simply switch to a more energy-efficient browser, such as Opera.

Opera is much lighter on resources as compared to many other browsers and also has built-in energy saving features. Recently it added a “Battery Saver” feature that Opera claims can increase laptop battery life up to 50% (less power usage). It will stop many background tab processes and some unnecessary features like theme animations to save power. Furthermore, it has a built-in ad blocker that eliminates the need of a third-party ad blocker (save more resources). Apart from that, its built-in VPN and data compression system also help save resources.

7. Upgrade Hardware

Newer hardware is usually more energy efficient and may help save power. Below are some hard components you should consider upgrading:

Hard Drive: You should get an SSD instead of HDD if you are looking to save electricity. HDD has moving parts in it, so it uses a lot of power. On the other hand, SSD uses less resources as it has no moving parts, and it also gives a much faster read/write speed than HDD.

CPU: If you have an old CPU that is having a hard time coping with your usage needs, then upgrading your CPU will save power. For example, if you have a CPU with two cores, upgrading to four core CPU will save power, as the load will be divided between the cores, and they will have to work less. Additionally, newer CPUs also have better power management features.

RAM: If your RAM is full, then the operating system will have to constantly wipe and re-write data and exchange data between RAM and hard drive storage using chúng tôi Buying more RAM will make it easier to deal with processes running without exchanging too much data. Thus, it will lead to your RAM using less power.

Monitor: As is mentioned above, if you have a CRT monitor, consider getting an LCD monitor.

While looking for hardware components, try to go for the one with an energy star rating as they are more energy efficient.

Note: if your current PC hardware components can easily handle your PC usage, then there is no strict need to upgrade.

Time To Go Green

You can follow most of these PC power saving tips with the least effort and for free. I recommend you make a habit of using Sleep and Hibernate modes and visit your operating system’s power options to find some power-saving gems.

7 Ways To Clean Up Your Facebook News Feed

With nearly 3 billion daily users to its name, Facebook is buzzing with activity—particularly if several hundred of those people happen to be friends with you. Between wedding photos of friends-of-friends-of-friends, angry articles from your political uncle, and all-caps updates from the girl you haven’t seen since middle school, your News Feed can get cluttered with information you couldn’t care less about. Don’t settle for reading every other post—here’s how to clean up your feed so it will only show the people and news you actually care about.

1. Unfollow your friends

Sorry, not sorry, Sophie. David Nield

Facebook includes more options than you might think for cleaning up your News Feed, including the ability to unfollow your friends. This isn’t the same as unfriending someone; you’ll stay friends with them but their posts won’t appear in your feed. It’s perfect if you want to occasionally check up on or message people, but aren’t interested in the minutiae of their daily lives. And don’t worry—they won’t know you’ve unfollowed them.

2. See fewer posts from someone 3. Prioritize your close friends

Prioritize your close friends so your cleaned-up News Feed shows more of the things you care about. David Nield

In any group of acquaintances, there will be some people you care about more than others. To help you focus on your nearest and dearest, Facebook creates a custom friends list for you called Close Friends. Updates from anyone in this select group will always prompt a notification (if you’ve got them enabled) and put the post high up in your News Feed. Fortunately for your friends’ self-esteem, they won’t know whether or not they’re on your Close Friends list.

4. Set up your own friend lists

5. Choose who you see first

Chris always has good posts, but Christopher doesn’t, so make sure you pick the right one. David Nield

[Related: Make Facebook useful by turning off all its annoying features]

This works a lot like Close Friends, but you won’t get notifications about everything these people or pages do—their posts will just be prioritized in your News Feed. If you’re using the mobile app, you can tap the Menu button in the bottom right, select Feeds, and choose Favorites from the top of the screen to see only posts from these accounts. Again, your friends won’t get any alerts about how you’re sorting them, so you don’t have to worry about hurting anyone’s feelings.

6. View posts in chronological order

If you want to see the newest posts, this is the option for you. David Nield

7. Adjust your ad settings

Why yes, my interests are Deez Facebook typography! But not facility management. David Nield

Inside the app, tap the Menu button in the bottom right, touch Settings & privacy, then Settings. Under the Security heading, tap Off-Facebook activity. Here, you can see recent activity, learn about what all this data means, and manage what Facebook and connected sites do with your information. Tap Select Activity to Disconnect to selectively sever Facebook’s link with other sites, Clear History to delete everything up to the present, and Disconnect Future Activity to stop the social media platform from sharing data with other places on the web. It’s hard to say if any of this will matter, because only Facebook knows how well these settings work, but doing something is generally better than doing nothing.

Protect Your Mac In 7 Ways

Protect Your Mac In 7 Ways

Apple’s growing market share have increased the potential number of threats and this catches hacker’s attention to cash in. Surely, when compared with Windows it’s still not that exposed but from not having, it has grown to have more than a few sophisticated ransomware threats.

Regardless of the OS you work on threat exists and there’s no concrete solution that works for all. You can apply safeguards but the risk is still there it cannot be eliminated. It’s better to be cautious then be infected.

1: Keep Your Mac OS And Server OS Updated

OS updates are essential they ensure that both client and servers are covered against known susceptibilities. This surely doesn’t include no exploit policy, but it reduces the risk of getting infected by unseen threats.

2: Update All the Installed Applications

To keep your machine protected against threats, you will have to update all the software apps. These updates enable new features, provides compatibility with a new Mac OS and more strong security. They have the same importance as OS updates. If you have not yet updated the software do so.

Apple has a solution for almost everything you can use Apple’s Remote Desktop to install application updates, new packages, and/or remotely implement commands and scripts.

3: Configure and Enable Security Measures

These security measures alone do not suffice but they go a long way in protecting networks from getting infected. An updated antivirus and malware software will be of additional help and will detect and monitor real time threats.

4: Lock Down Your Devices

Assessing all the devices is the first step from security point of view. You should first assess the device to know what the device will be used for and how they can be locked. Any application, service, and connected device that are not required or are condemned should be considered susceptible and restricted immediately.

Assessing the internal threats is not sufficient, assessing physical security is equally important. It can be easily exploited to infect a device because it’s not a method which provides physical proximity to the attacker with the host system. Whatever the thing may be a logged in user account with no screen lock or a server that can be easily restarted are all vulnerable. Therefore, one should keep a check on all these things.

5: Always Take Backup

The machine is only as reliable as the data we work with. Once its compromised, corrupt it loses all its integrity.

The safest way is to take data backup, using a good backup software with incremental backup feature is recommended. There’re several ways by which data backup can be taken. This backup works as a safe point in crucial times.

Apple’s backup application Time Machine for clients and servers, is a lightweight solution for backing up local data across multiple devices. In addition to this iCloud is an excellent cloud backup system. In built in all the latest version of Mac OS, it allows to restore data rapidly from any Apple device or modern web browser.

6: Encrypt Data

Data encryption alone will not help. To prevent ransomware from corrupting your you should use apps that helps to sandbox encrypted data. Thus, making it unreadable by any process outside the container application’s API.

Plus, you can also use whole-disk encryption software which does not permit any kind of altering when the user is logged out or the machine is shut down. Thus helping protect data, data cannot be infected or modified by ransomware.

Similarly, you can also use VPN and Proxy servers to secure your network and allow connectivity between trusted networks. Another effective way to is to set up filters set to quarantine untrusted, infected, or noncompliant systems.

7: Secure Boot Camp installations

Mac users do not prefer to use another OS on their machine. But some users do use technologies such as Boot Camp to use Windows on their Mac.

But they forget that this way they cannot protect their Windows, in fact they are making their Mac system weak. As now the administrative responsibilities are increased. since two OSes are to be managed. So before installing Windows make sure you take enough security measure.

These simple tips will surely help you to stay protected. However, there’s no guarantee that your machine will be infection free. But these steps if followed will surely create an additional layer of security which will give hackers a hard time. They will not be able to easily get in your system.
