Apple Reminders is one of the really useful apps that come preloaded on your iOS and Mac-based devices. As the name suggests and as you may already know, it lets you create reminders that you want to be reminded about on your devices. You can use it to get reminders about the tasks that you think you’ll forget if you don’t put them on a list.

One of the underutilized features of the Apple Reminders is the tasks list. By default, what most people do is add all of their reminders in a single list. While this may work if you only use the app for specific reminders, you can create a list for each type of reminder so that things are a bit more organized.
You can create various lists and then jot down your reminders in them. For example, you can create a personal list for your personal reminders and an office list for your office-related reminders.
That way, you can quickly jump onto a specific reminder type and view all the tasks listed there.
Launch the Reminders app on your device.
Tap at the bottom of your screen and you’ll see the available lists.
Tap on the + (plus) icon at the top-right corner to add a new list.
It’ll ask what new item you want to create. Tap on List to create a new list.
Enter a name for your list, choose a color for it, and tap on Done to save the list.
You can now start adding reminders to your newly created list.Change The Color Of Your List
The Reminders app allows you to customize the color for your lists to make it easier for you to find your lists. You can assign from various colors available in the app and your list will be highlighted in your chosen color.
The list color can be assigned to both new lists as well as the existing ones.Assign a Color To a New List
Choosing a specific color for your new list is pretty easy. While you’re on the new list creation screen, simply tap on the color you want for your list and that’s all.Change The Color Of An Existing List
Open the list that you want to change the color for.
Tap on the Edit link at the top-right corner.

Choose a new color from the list of available colors.Share Your List With Other People
Sometimes, you may want to share certain reminder lists with other people. You’ll especially want to do it in business environments where multiple people are working on a given assignment.
The Apple Reminders app allows you to add people to your lists and they can then contribute to it. All they need to do is enable iCloud on their devices and they should be able to access and add to your lists.
Open the Reminders app on your device.
Select the list that you’d like to share with other people.
Tap on the Edit option in the upper-right corner.
Tap on the option that says Sharing.
On the following screen, tap on Add person to add people to your list.
Choose a person from your list and tap on Add in the top-right corner.
The person will be added to your list and they’ll be able to manage your list along with you.Hide & Unhide Completed Tasks In Reminders
To keep your user interface decluttered, the Reminders app hides all the tasks that you’ve marked as completed. Soon as you swipe off a task, it gets removed from the main list and moved over to a hidden completed tasks list.
Many users might think that their completed tasks are deleted as the app doesn’t prominently show how to view completed tasks. However, that is not the case and you can view your finished tasks using an option in the app.
Open the Reminders app.
Select the list where your completed task was located.
You’ll see an option saying Show Completed at the bottom of your screen. Tap on it and it’ll open.
You’ll now see a list of all of your completed tasks.Create Location-Based Reminders
Time-based reminders are common and they can be created in most reminder apps out there. However, location-based reminders are rare but these can be created in the Apple Reminders app on your iOS and Mac devices.
A location-based reminder sends you a notification when you’re in a particular location that is assigned to your reminder. For example, you can set a reminder to buy milk when you’re around Walmart. When you’re actually around that place, the app will notify you and display your reminder.
Launch the Reminders app.
Open the list where you want to create a location-based reminder.
Start typing your reminder and then tap on the i icon next to it.
Turn the toggle for Remind me at a location to the ON position.
Tap on Location and it’ll let you specify a location for your reminder.
Type in the name of the place and select it when it appears.
Tap on Done at the top-right corner to save your location-based reminder.Add New Reminders Using Siri
If you’re in a hurry or in a situation where you can’t type a reminder, you can use Siri to create a new reminder in the Apple Reminders app. Since both Siri and Reminders are developed by Apple, they’re tightly integrated and you can use one to create items in another.
Fire up Siri as you normally would.
Ask her Remind me to and then add whatever you want to be reminded about. For example, you can ask her Remind me to buy milk at 8 AM tomorrow and it’ll create a reminder for 8 AM tomorrow in the app.
You can use variations of the natural language to create specific reminders.Change The Default Reminders List
If you don’t specify a specific list to add your new reminders to, they’ll be added to a default list by the app. You can change the default list if you want and all your unassigned future tasks will be added to that list.
Launch the Settings app on your device.
Find and tap on the Reminders option.
Tap on the Default List option.
Select a list to be your new default list.

After playing Sea of Thieves for a couple of days, It’s pretty interesting to learn things that can shape how you play the game. I had played with 4 crew, 2 crew, and even solo to understand how things are managed. In this post, I am sharing my bit of experience that should help you as well.Sea of Thieves Tips and Tricks
Before you set sail, Stock up! If you have read out the guide to getting started with Sea of Thieves, you already know where I am pointing you to. Planks, Bananas, and Canon Balls are three important resources you will need every time. Every Player has the capacity to carry a few of them, and so every time you start, first move around the outpost to pick whatever number is possible for you. Eventually, you will have to make it a habit to keep collecting them.
Keep collecting these resources, especially bananas, from every island you visit.
On the ship, you will have barrels. Go to them, and you can store if they are not full.
Make sure to keep planks, and bananas always with you. This is very handy when your ship is hit or you get badly hurt in the battle.How to Sail the Ship!
There are three major parts of the ship. The Sail, Anchor and the Compass. When it comes to bigger ships, you have three sails, and for smaller ones, you have just one. So, it is easy to understand the difficulty of managing them, and you will need at least one two people managing those three sails all the time.
When you look at the sky, there are curvy white lines moving around. These are winds, and they give you a clear sense of their direction. Depending on how far you want to go, angle and deploy the length of your sales before pulling up the anchor.
Anchors can be dropped or pulled up. Dropping part is easy, it takes a second, so always make sure whoever is navigating, has one person on the anchor when it’s time. Pulling up the anchor takes more time.
Use the Anchor to take a steep turn. This is my favorite thing to do whenever I feel like taking a steep U-turn or when I want to skip some cannonballs. When your helm is set for the turn, you drop the anchor and feel the torque.
To figure out if the Helm is at the central position, wait for the vibration when you are steering it.
You will have to estimate Ship’s speed based on its size. Smaller ships are faster because the drag doesn’t hit them that much compared to larger ships. However, larger ships sail much faster compared to smaller ones with the wind.
Make sure one person or yourself (when sailing alone) keep a check on the direction by looking at the map table. Especially in storms when the compass on the Helm doesn’t work, the table map is the only way out. You can always use LEFT and RIGHT in that case.
Never anchor your ship in case of a Storm. You will end up getting your ship flooded. Make sure to keep getting water thrown out during these times.Learn how to change & buy weapons in Sea of Thieves
You have two weapons when you start. One is the trusty cutlass, and the second is the flintlock pistol. I only realized later that you could choose different weapons from the “Armory” cabinet. It’s located on the ship on the first level. and can also be found on islands here, and there, but the Ship is probably the best place to do it. It also acts as storage to choose from all the weapons you buy from the Outpost.
There are two more weapons in the armory. A short-range canon, which is just like a shotgun, and a long ranged rifle. While you can swap them, I would suggest having the sword all the time with you and switching to the short-range canon, also called “Blunderbuss. Follow the steps:
Navigate to an Armory cabinet that is on the ship, and press X to open the Armory.
You can navigate between the weapon categories using LB and RB.
Press A to equip a weapon and then select the slot or weapon to replace.Leveling up for Legendary Quests:
Quests are the sole of Sea of Thieves. Everything else is cosmetic and changes. As you complete more voyages, you level up based on the type of quests. There are three types of level-up. The first is for Gold Quests, the second is for Merchant-based quests, and the last one is for Order of Souls. As you level up, you can buy more rewarding quests. So focus on it.
I am guessing Rare, will bring more updates to the game, so till then, concentrate on leveling up, and completing more voyages.Selling Chests Safely:
The chests you collect can be taken by another pirate if he is not in the crew. Many a time, I have seen a few ships around and then attack you to grab all the chest and treasure you collect. You have to be very careful about it. There are two ways of doing this.
First, every time you collect a chest, get back to the outpost quickly and sell it. Make sure there is no other ship parked, if yes, be careful, and use water to get to the gold merchant.
Second, you can keep a couple of quests handy, and if the islands are nearby on the new map, complete them while on the go. This is efficient, but the risks are a little higher. Your experience will come in handy.Battling the Ships:
It happens from time to time – but you have to decide based on your ship size and your skill. Small ships can escape faster and take steep turns. While Bigger ships have more firepower and more crew members. You can always engage for fun; you have nothing to lose except for the chest, choose wisely!Everything else:
You can refill your gun by going back to the Armory box every time you run out of bullets. Guns are the easiest way to take out an enemy, but they are limited as well. So make sure to refill.
If you are accidentally left by your crew mate or you fell off the ship, you will see a creepy-looking mermaid in the seawater. Just go to her, and she will get you back to the ship.
Many don’t realize, but you have access to compass, and spyglass to find your direction and spot an enemy. You will often forget where your ship is, and using a compass helps.
Learn to use Charge attack using the right trigger. It’s useful when you need to take down the captains, and If you ever face an annoying crew mate, Lock him Down. Find this option in the menu. Crew members will have to vote.

There are many hidden tricks and shortcuts that make text editing easier. Here are some tips I think will help you when you are using Microsoft Word.Microsoft Word Tips And Tricks 1. Vertical Selection Of Text
Normally, we select a character, a word, a sentence or a paragraph. All these selections are horizontal selections. Sometimes you may need to select vertically. For example, if your text has numbers in the beginning, you may want to select only the numbers to delete them at one go (see figure).2. Default Line Spacing
The default line spacing in Microsoft Word is 1.15 against 1 in Microsoft Word 2003. Microsoft changed the line spacing to make your text more readable. If you want the default line spacing as 1, follow this procedure:
In the Format list that appears, select Paragraph
Under Spacing, change the line spacing from 1.15 to 1
Check the box against “New documents based on this template.”3. Changing The Default Save Location
By default, MS Word opens Documents folder when you press CTRL+S for the first time. If you think this is irritating you, you can change the default file location to some other place where you normally store your documents.
In the right part of the window, scroll down to the button that says “File Locations”4. Change Default Font
The default font for new documents in MS Word is Calibri. Though the font is good for online viewing, it creates problems when printing. You may be using Times New Roman or Arial for print jobs. One method is to change the font manually each time after you have typed the document. But then, it would involve formatting the document again. Another method is to change the default font.
In the Font dialog box, select the font you wish to use with every document.
Make any other changes you wish such as font size etc5. Move Rows Of Text In Table
Sometimes when you are working on the table, you may want to move one or more rows in the table up or down without having to change the table formatting. One method is copy-pasting but that risks formatting.
Another method is using ALT+SHIFT+UP arrow key to move an entire row up. Similarly, to move the entire row down, use ALT+SHIFT+DN arrow key. Note that you have to select the row before you can move it using the ALT+SHIFT+Arrow keys. This method makes sure the formatting is not disturbed.6. Quickly Change Line Spacing
Sometimes need arises that you have to change line spacing among different paragraphs. Here are the shortcut keys:
Note that you just need to place the cursor on the paragraph that needs to be styled. You need not select the paragraph.7. Quickly Adding Borders to Paragraphs
If you wish to add borders to some paragraphs, you can use the Borders and Shading dialog box. However, if your need is just to add the bottom border to text/paragraph, you can do it by adding three special characters and hitting Enter.
Press – (hyphen) three times and press Enter to draw an underline border of 3/4 points
Press _ (underscore) three times and press Enter to draw an underline border of 1.5 points
Press ~ (tilde) three times and press Enter to draw a zigzag underline border
Press * (asterisk) three times and press Enter to draw a dotted underline border
Press = (equal to) three times and press Enter to draw a double underline border8. Find Special Formatting
You can find text that is specially formatted. For example, you can find highlighted text or text whose font is Times New Roman. You can also search for bold text or italics. There are many more options when you use the Find option.
Press CTRL+F to open the Find pane. In Word it appears to the left side of the window.
You can see plenty of options under Format.9. Merging Formatting When Pasting Across Documents
When you copy anything from another document and paste it in the current document, you will want the copied text to match the formatting of the current document. While you can manually format each time you copy text from other documents to the current one, you can also set the default paste to merge formatting so that the text copied from other sources acquires the formatting of the current document.
In the window that appears, Select Merge Destinations in 1] When Pasting in the same Document and 2] When Pasting between Documents.10. Copy Only Formatting
Sometimes you may want to apply an already existing formatting from one part of your document to another part. You have the Format Painter for the purpose. Using the Format Painter can be irritating when dealing with long documents. Here is another method that is easier to use.
Press CTRL+SHIFT+C instead of CTRL+C. This will copy only the formatting and leave the text.
Move to the destination where the formatting is to be applied. Select the text to which formatting is to be applied. Press CTRL+SHIFT+V to paste the formatting to the selection.

My AirPods won’t pair. – While most of the time the pairing action of opening the case and being set to go is seamless, sometimes the pairing won’t complete. Toggle Bluetooth on and off, and press the button on the back of the AirPods case.
My AirPods aren’t recognizing that they’re in my ears. – Jiggle and tap the AirPods until you hear the confirming tone.
Music is playing through my iPhone speakers, not my AirPods. – Be sure to tap AirPods on the AirPlay menu. Not that it’s complicated, it’s just a heavily overlooked solution.
My AirPods case isn’t charging. – A common problem with iOS devices that live in your pockets; verify that the lighting port is clear of pocket lint.
Siri isn’t activating on double-tap. – Unlock and lock your iPhone to refresh the UI and make sure the taps are fairly prominent. It’s great technology, but that doesn’t mean it’s bug-free. The “double-tap” is registered by accelerometers, so there actually has to be a decent amount of movement of the AirPods for the taps to register.
My AirPods are seemingly quiet, even with the volume maxed out. – The quickest fix I’ve found for this issue is to disconnect from your AirPods on your iPhone’s Bluetooth settings, and tap to pair again.
Music is choppy and calls drop. – Completely forget the AirPods in your Bluetooth settings rather than just disconnect. Close the case and reopen it next to your iPhone to pair again. Follow on-screen prompts, including pressing the button on the back of the AirPods’ case. Once you’re reconnected, you should be good to go. I’ve seen this issue when connecting to a Mac and switching back to my iPhone.Tips and Tricks
Siri Commands – While the double-tap is the only available gesture, which by default activates Siri, Siri can do many tasks you could otherwise perform on an iOS music app. Say, “Press play,” “press pause,” “skip this track,” “add this song to my library,” and more.
Repurpose the double-tap – In your Bluetooth settings tap the info icon next to AirPods for a few options. From here, under “double-tap on AirPods” you can choose Siri, Play/Pause, or off.
Battery Percentage View – Swipe left to view your widgets on your iOS home screen to see AirPods’ battery percentage or simply open the case to view it on the home screen. On Apple Watch, swipe up to view control center, tap on battery percentage, and you can now view your AirPods battery percentage.
Not Your AirPods – If the AirPods case is opened next to an iOS device not under your Apple ID, the screen will display “not your AirPods.” Now, even with that warning, the AirPods can still be repaired. No form of “Activation Lock” exists.Conclusion

Do remember that since this is such a new product, there are bound to be a few bugs – all of which will be worked out in software updates to come. Carrying extra load might not be the idea of fun photography, but if you want to take better photos, you really could use the help of one of the pods to steady the camera. The popularity of the iPhone camera has bred several special clip-on lenses that you can use to create different perspectives of your shots. The most popular types of these lenses are fisheye, wide, and macro.Remote
Sometimes you need to put your camera away, and the shutter button is out of your hand’s reach: for example, when you need to take a selfie. You can do away with the camera timer, but the process will be easier if you have a remote shutter. The volume up button on your earphone can be your wired remote shutter button. Knowing few basic photography techniques won’t suddenly turn you into a pro, but it can improve your shots a lot. Among many, here are several that I think are easy enough to learn and applicable to amateur iPhoneographers.Composition
Amateurs tend to put their photo objects in the center. While there’s nothing wrong with that, your pictures will look better and more natural if you use the rule of thirds and golden ratio to compose your photos. There are many references that you can find on the Internet about them, but here is the gist of it.
To use the rule of thirds, imagine that there are four lines (two down and two across) that divide your screen equally into nine areas. Align your subject(s) with the lines and intersections and you will be amazed at the result.
Your iPhone camera app doesn’t come with the golden ratio feature, but Camera Awesome (free) does.Lights and Shadows
Based on my amateurish iPhoneography experiment, you will get a better image with the light source in front of your subject and no nearby wall behind to show cast shadow. Also, natural daylight will always yield better results than non-natural light sources.
But that doesn’t mean that you can’t bend the rules. Experiment a lot to try to create different effects. Strong backlight covered by the object can create a great silhouette effect. You can also play with the shadow created by strong light.Focus
It’s evident that out-of-focus photographs will never be the ones that you’re proud of, but you can use out-of-focus foreground and background to create the sense of depth. While it’s common knowledge that you can tap on an object on the iPhone screen to focus on it, not many of us know that you can lock the focus by doing a tap and hold.

Vim is undoubtedly a very powerful text editor. It offers a plethora of features which means that studying and remembering every Vim functionality isn’t practically possible. But what we can do at least is keep learning easier ways of doing things so that our experience with the editor keeps on getting better with time.
Note: If you are completely new to Vim, you can first go through our getting started guide. For those who’ve just started using the editor, I’m sure our Vim keyboard shortcuts cheatsheet will be extremely useful to you. And if you’re already an experienced user, you might also want to find out some tips and tricks for experienced users.
Please note that all the tips mentioned in this article have been mostly explained using easy-to-understand coding situations, as they come in really handy while software development. But that does not mean normal users (who aren’t coders and use Vim for general text editing) can’t use them in their work.1. Set file specific variables
There may be times when – in a particular file – you would want any tab character that you type to get replaced by spaces. Or you may want a source code file to use two spaces for indentation even if the editor’s default indentation is set to four spaces.
Basically we’re talking about file-specific changes here. There’s a feature that Vim provides which allows you to change certain settings only for a particular file. That feature is called “Modeline.”
For example, to make sure that each tab you type gets replaced by spaces, all you have to do is to add the following modeline in the first or last few lines of the file in question:
And to change the indentation from default (4) to 2, use the following modeline in the source file:
Here are some important points that you need to keep in mind when dealing with modelines:
Modelines should only be added in the first or last five lines of the file.
The feature is off by default when editing as root.

As you start writing more and more complex code or start working on large source files, you deal with several variable names. Sometimes it’s not easy to remember all the names, so whenever you have to write a variable name you usually copy it from where it’s already used.
Thankfully, with Vim you can just write some initial letters of the variable. Without leaving the Insert mode, press “Ctrl + n” or “Ctrl + p” to get a list of matching keywords. While “Ctrl + n” is used to insert the next matching word, “Ctrl + p” gives you a list of previous matching words.
Here’s this feature in action.
As is clear from the screenshot above, the list that pops up also contains words from other source files. For more information on this feature, head here.3. Searching
Suppose you are debugging your code, and as part of that you need to quickly see all the occurrences of a variable in a file. A commonly used way to do this is to come out of the Insert mode, write /[var-name], press Enter, and then go back and forth using the “n” and “p” keys.
There’s no problem with the aforementioned approach, per se, but there’s a slightly more easier and quicker way to do this kind of search. For that, first you have to make sure that you are out of Insert mode and that the cursor is under the word/variable you’re trying to search, which isn’t time consuming at all. And next, all you have to do is press “Shift + *.”
Do this repeatedly, and the editor will quickly take you to all the places where the word/variable is used in the file.Conclusion
