Suggested January 2024 Msi Monitor Not Turning On Or Displaying Anything

Is your MSI monitor not turning on or showing anything except for a blank black screen? Several users have reported that their MSI monitor just doesn’t turn on even after setting it up correctly. Some users have reported that their monitor displays nothing except a blank black screen.

How do I turn on my MSI monitor?

To set up and turn on your MSI monitor, switch off your computer and connect your monitor to your computer via HDMI/DisplayPort cable. After that, connect the AC power adapter & power cord, and then connect the AC adapter to the monitor power jack. Now, attach your computer’s power cord to the electrical outlet and press the power button on your monitor. Finally, select the correct input source and switch on your computer.

Why is my MSI screen black?

If your MSI monitor displays nothing but a black screen, there are chances that there is a loose cable connection between your computer and the monitor or the video cable is damaged. Besides that, it might also be the case that the wrong input source is configured for your monitor, which is why it is not displaying anything. Other reasons for the same are incorrect display settings of your computer, outdated drivers, outdated or corrupted BIOS settings, or if your graphics card is not inserted firmly into your motherboard.

MSI monitor not turning on or displaying anything

If your MSI monitor is not turning on or displays a blank black screen, ensure that you have switched on the monitor. You can then use the below methods to fix this issue:

Make sure all cables are connected properly.

Choose the correct input source for your monitor.

Factory reset your MSI monitor.

Change your display resolution.

Update your display and device drivers.

Check the display settings on your primary monitor (if applicable).

Make sure your BIOS is up-to-date.

Reseat your graphics card.

Reset BIOS.

1] Make sure all cables are connected properly

A loose or improper cable connection could very well facilitate this issue. So, the first thing you need to make sure of is that your monitor and the computer are well connected and that there is no loose connection. You can turn off your PC, remove its power cord, and then disconnect the video cable from the monitor. After that, properly reconnect the video cable to monitor and attach other cables, and turn on your computer to check if the issue is resolved.

In case your MSI monitor still won’t turn on or display anything, you can use some other suitable fix to resolve the problem.

2] Choose the correct input source for your monitor

To choose the right input source for your MSI monitor, tap on the red button present on the back of your monitor. And then, go to the Input Source section and select the correct input source. You can check your monitor installation guide to know the exact steps to set the input source for your monitor.

If you still get the same problem, move on to the next solution.

3] Factory reset your MSI monitor

If the above fixes didn’t work, you can reset your MSI monitor to its factory default. In case the problem is caused due to corrupted monitor settings, this method should fix the issue. Here’s how you can do that:

First, press the Red button present at the back of your MSI monitor.

Now, navigate to the Settings tab present below the menu window.

Next, choose the Reset option and then select the Yes option.

Your MSI monitor will now be reset to its original settings. Check whether your monitor is working now or not.

4] Change your display resolution

In case your computer’s display resolution is set to a higher resolution than the maximum resolution your MSI monitor can handle, you will experience this issue. Hence, you need to adjust your display resolution according to the specification of your MSI monitor.

To start with, check the model number of your monitor. It is written on the back of your monitor. After that, get the user manual of your monitor from MSI’s official support website. Now, check the maximum resolution that is supported by your MSI monitor.

You can now reconnect your MSI monitor and see if it turns on and works correctly.

See: Fix Input Signal Out of Range, Change settings Monitor error.

5] Update your display and device drivers

This problem is likely to occur if your display and other device drivers are outdated. To get your hardware to work correctly on your computer, you must have the latest version of your device drivers. Hence, if the scenario is applicable, update your device drivers, especially graphics/display drivers.

Once done, turn off your computer and connect your MSI monitor back to your PC. Switch on your PC and monitor and hopefully, the problem will now be resolved.

6] Check the display settings on your primary monitor (if applicable)

If you are using the MSI monitor as the secondary display, you need to check whether or not the MSI monitor is detected on your computer. For that, you can use the primary display monitor. Here are the steps to do that:

First, press the Win+I hotkey to open the Settings app.

Check if your MSI monitor is detected or not.

If the MSI monitor is not detected, ensure that your monitor is not damaged and is in proper working condition. Connect it to a different monitor and see if it is working fine or not. You can also reinstall your graphics driver to fix the issue.

7] Make sure your BIOS is up-to-date

Another reason why your MSI monitor is not turning on or showing anything is due to outdated BIOS. Hence, if the scenario is applicable, update your BIOS by connecting to a different monitor and see if the issue is fixed.

8] Reseat your graphics card

Your MSI monitor might not be turning on or displaying a blank screen because your GPU card is not correctly seated into its slot in the motherboard. An incorrect or loose graphics card connection is likely to trigger this problem. So, make sure your GPU card is seated correctly. If not, reseat it and then check if the problem is gone.

To do that, you can take help from a professional or you can also do it by yourself if you are used to working with the computer case. Here’s how:

First, turn off your PC and disconnect all the attached devices and cables. Now, open your computer case and locate the slot for your graphics card.

After that, make sure your GPU card is correctly and securely inserted into its slot. In case it is not, take your graphics card out and reseat it firmly.

Next, connect your monitor cable and other cables to your computer, and then tap and hold the Power button for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.

You can now plug in your computer and turn it on to check if the problem is fixed.

9] Reset BIOS

If none of the above solutions worked for you, clear the CMOS and reset your BIOS to its original default settings.

In case the problem remains the same, consider getting your monitor checked by technicians and repairing it. Or, you may also require to replace your MSI monitor if it is too old or damaged.

Turning The Tables On Headhunters

What client organizations have you worked with recently? This is simple: You can judge a recruitment firm by the company it keeps.

Do you specialize in IT placement? There are plenty of top recruiters that don’t. However, some experts think specialization is a must. “They can’t be a one-stop shop today unless they’re huge,” says John Putzier, president of HR consultancy FirStep.

—Steve Ulfelder

“One overlooked benefit of recruiter call is the reality check. Find out where you stand in the marketplace. Are your peers at other companies getting bonuses, sabbaticals, stock? Ask the headhunter.

Everybody’s got a headhunter story.

Frank Dreher used to work for a big New Jersey defense contractor (since merged to death). “I was sniffing around,” says the veteran IT pro, who’s now an electrical engineer at Quad Systems Corp. in Willow Grove, Pa., “when I was approached by this fellow. I shot off my resumi, and he sent it out to some firms.”

A few days passed. Dreher’s manager called him in for a friendly chit-chat. Asked how are things going, are you happy, what projects would you like to work on, etc. “I got to pick a really interesting new project, and my subsequent paychecks had a little more meat.”

Punchline, which you’ve probably guessed: The headhunter had sent Dreher’s resume to his employer. “I told him he did me a favor, and that I didn’t need a new job anymore.”

And then there was the guy who got an interview at a startup through a headhunter. The startup loved him, but he didn’t think the company had a future, so he passed. The incensed headhunter called the president of the guy’s company. Whispered that the guy was interviewing around. So the guy got canned and had no idea why. “It was only when we settled on a severance package,” says the guy–who also asked to be anonymous–“that the president tripped up and let it be known that the headhunter” had dimed him out.

Yup, everybody’s got a headhunter story. And very few of them flatter headhunters. Which is odd, because when you get down to it, recruiters are your ally. Their job is to get you a job. In most cases, they don’t get paid unless they do so. But many IT professionals view recruiters as parasites or irritants. It’s worth your while to stop slamming down the phone when a technical recruiter calls, learn more about how they work–and figure out how to get the most out of them.

Tricks of the trade

Say you get a cold call from a headhunter. Maybe you’re in a great mood. Maybe you’re feeling itchy. For whatever reason, you’re willing to listen. Moreover, you’re flattered. Admit it: It’s nice to be recruited.

But that good feeling doesn’t last long. The recruiter describes a juicy opening and then crushes your ego by saying, “I wonder if you have any co-workers who might be interested in this position?” Co-workers? What are you, chopped liver?

Well, puff your ego back up: It’s really you the recruiter wants. “They’re waiting for you to say, ‘Hey, I might be interested in that job myself,’” says John Putzier, president of FirStep Inc., a human resources consultancy in Prospect, Pa.

The misdirection play is part of the delicate, often silly, negotiation dance. Here’s the thing to remember: If you express interest in the position, your value may drop. You’re no longer a “passive job-seeker,” in the recruiter’s lingo.

So if a recruiter describes a job and you’re interested, you can maximize your value by playing hard to get. “Don’t say, ‘Thank God you called! I hate my job!’” Putzier says. Tell the recruiter you may know somebody; you’ll ask around and call back. Be sure to get a salary range. If you do call back, tell the headhunter you’d like to hear more about the position yourself–but you’re only interested in the very high end of that salary range, of course.

What’s in it for you

So how do you squeeze the most horsepower out of your first contact with a recruiter?

First, if you’re looking–or thinking about looking–you should know what you’re looking for, says Dan Hines, a technical search manager at recruiting firm Pencom Systems Inc. in Reston, Va. Do you want more money? A chance to work with a specific technology, or in a certain geographic area? More responsibility? “If you can convey that to a recruiter, it’ll help,” Hines says. “Have a solid understanding of what it would take for [you] to move on.”

A story about Cortana is a story about ups and downs. It started strong, others caught up, and now it’s still a force to be reckoned with, but not as popular or praised as it was back in the days. The main reason is a lackluster support (especially for the Windows Mobile platform) and an inclination towards bugs. One of those bugs is a critical stall of Cortana in Windows 10 which occurs in different variations. Basically, Cortana ”Ask me anything” feature doesn’t work as intended.

How to resolve Cortana ‘Ask me anything” issue in Windows 10

The first step to take when something goes wrong with any of the system native apps (including Cortana) is to check for updates. If everything worked seamlessly and you suddenly encountered issues, it’s reasonable to suspect that the recent updates are the main culprit behind the problem. Accordingly, we can also expect that the future updates will sort it out. At least, folks from Redmond are claiming so.

As you already know, Windows updates are, like it or not, automatically distributed, but it will cost you nothing to, from time to time, check for them manually. You can do that by following the instructions below:

Press Windows key + I to open the Settings app.

Choose Update & security.

Open the Windows Update from the left pane.

Install the updates and restart your PC.

Solution 2 – Run Start Menu Troubleshooter

Even though the Creators Update unified the troubleshooting tools under one, so to say, flag, Windows still lacks a proper troubleshooting tool for issues in the Cortana department. Luckily, a diligent folk from Redmond, Oregon provided Windows users with the downloadable troubleshooting tool for the job. The Start Menu Troubleshooter’s main task is to check for all of the Start/Search bar related issues and, hopefully, resolve them.

That, of course, includes Cortana and smart assistant’s features. If Cortana misbehaves,  you’re unable to access the search results, or something third is the problem, make sure to give this tool a go.

Follow these instructions in order to utilize the Start Menu Troubleshooting tool:

Download this nifty tool from the official site, here.

Run the Start Menu Troubleshooter and follow the instructions closely.

The tool will check for all Start-related issues and resolve them accordingly.

If even this isn’t enough to get the Cortana in the working mood, make sure to check the additional steps.

Solution 3 – Reset Cortana

Expert tip:

Resetting Cortana should remove the stall and you should be able to use it just like you did before. This requires the usage of PowerShell, so follow the steps below closely and we’ll reset it in no time:

Press Windows + X to open the Power User menu.

Choose PowerShell (Admin) from the list.

In the command line, copy-paste the following values and press Enter:

de -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml”}

This command will restart Cortana and, after you start it and reconfigure it again, it should work without any issues.

Solution 4 – Add different outbound rule for Cortana in Windows Firewall

Some users had a hard time with repeated searches. Namely, they were, for no apparent reason, unable to perform an actual search two times in a row. The first time everything is fine – the second, well, Cortana presents 0 (zero) results.

Luckily, users themselves provided the temporary workaround and it considers certain Windows Firewall tweaks. Namely, some users managed to get rid of the aforementioned search issue by changing the outbound rule for Cortana in Windows Firewall.

Follow the instructions below to and you’ll, hopefully, fix the issue at hand:

In the Windows Search bar, type control, and open Control Panel.

Open Windows Firewall.

Choose Advanced Settings from the left pane.

Expand the Outbound rules option.

Locate Microsoft Windows Cortana or just Cortana on the list.

In the General tab, select Block this connection and confirm changes.

Restart your PC and look for changes.

Solution 5 – Assign a new account to Cortana

Finally, if none of the previous steps proved as a valid solution for defiant Cortana issues, we can present you the last one. Of course, some would say that Windows recovery options or even the reinstallation are viable solutions, but we recommend those steps only and only if you can’t imagine your daily workflow without the Cortana assistance.

As you already know, Cortana stores a bunch of your personal information and preferences in order to speed up the searching process and provide a more relaxed, friendly-like workflow. All those personal files are connected to your Outlook account you provided during the initial setup. So, what you’ll need to do in order to apply this step is to replace your current account for a new one. If something created the stir within the gathered data, this should reset it to default values so you can start from a scratch. That’s a long shot, but it just might resolve the Cortana issue that bothers you.

Press Windows key + S to open the Search bar.

In the upper left side, select Notebook.

Choose About Me.

Now, use any other address and sign in again.

With that, we run out of options. But, nonetheless, we’re positive that some of the offered solutions will relieve you of the trouble. At least, in a ‘workaround’ sense, until Microsoft improves Cortana resilience to bugs in the future updates.

Still experiencing troubles? Fix them with this tool:

Some driver-related issues can be solved faster by using a tailored driver solution. If you’re still having problems with your drivers, simply install OutByte Driver Updater and get it up and running immediately. Thus, let it update all drivers and fix other PC issues in no time!

7 Ways To Fix Autocorrect Not Working On Iphone Or Ipad

When messaging anyone on your iPhone, the best way to type out the words is by utilizing the Auto-Correction and predictive text features. Auto-Correction uses the dictionary on your iPhone to check for spellings you type and corrects them if anything goes wrong.

But what if it doesn’t work as intended or stops working entirely? You need not worry about it; I’ll show you a few ways you can fix autocorrect when it stops working on your iPhone.

Whatever the reason, the first solution to fix the auto-correct issue is to restart your iPhone. In case you need some assistance, here’s our guide to restarting your iPhone. If this doesn’t fix your issues, follow these troubleshooting tips.

1. Enable Auto-Correction from iPhone’s settings

There’s also a possibility that you might have turned it off when your iPhone autocorrected your texts often. The best way to start the troubleshooting process is by disabling and enabling the autocorrect feature from your iPhone settings. Here’s how to do it on your iPhone.

Open Settings on your iPhone.

Select General, and then Keyboard.

Turn off the toggle next to Auto-Correction and then turn it on again.

Enable Check Spelling and Predictive options in Keyboard settings

Using a dictionary, spell check corrects misspelled words on your iPhone. On the other hand, predictive text recommends words based on your daily typing patterns. You’ll have to type a few words, and predictive text will use AI to suggest a few words that can complete the sentence. If it’s turned off, here’s how you can turn it back on.

Go to Settings on your iPhone.

Select General → Keyboard options.

Turn on the toggles next to the Check Spelling and Predictive options.

2. Add or remove Text Replacement shortcuts on iPhone

Text replacement shortcuts allow you to expand any random word with the word, phrase, or sentence you set. There’s a chance you might be seeing random text popping up when you type something.

Head over to Settings on your iPhone.

Tap General, and then Keyboard.

Select the Text Replacement option.

Swipe left and hit “delete” on the text you want to delete.

Similarly, you can add a text replacement shortcut to ease your typing when you keep typing a word repeatedly. Select the “+” button on the top right of the Text Replacement settings, add a phrase you want to expand, and then the shortcut. Now, whenever you type the shortcut, it’ll get replaced by the phrase you have set.

3. Add a new keyboard for another supported language

Apple doesn’t support all languages when it comes to using Auto-Correction. So you might not get Auto-Correction if you use a language besides the one from Apple’s official list of supported languages.

For instance, if you use a language like Korean or Tibetan, you’re out of luck; if you use Telugu or Gujarati, then Auto-Correction will work on your iPhone. Nevertheless, here’s how you can switch to a supported language on your iPhone.

Open Settings and go to General.

Select Keyboard → Keyboards.

Tap the Add New Keyboard… option.

Choose a language that supports autocorrect.

4. Reset Keyboard Dictionary on iPhone

Over time, iPhone learns a lot about your typing habits and thus enabling users to type faster using the predictive text feature. However, it might sometimes even remember incorrect spellings you wouldn’t want to use. The best way to eliminate those words is by resetting your iPhone’s keyboard dictionary. Follow these steps to know how you can do that on your iPhone.

Go to your iPhone’s Settings → General.

Scroll down and select Transfer or Reset iPhone.

Select Reset, and then Reset Keyboard Dictionary. Enter your passcode if prompted.

Tap Reset Dictionary to confirm it.

There are chances that the Auto-Correction feature might not function properly on your iPhone or iPad. If you still haven’t updated your iPhone or iPad to the latest iOS version, it’s best to update since it might fix bugs like these. You can do this by going to Settings → General → Software Update and see if there’s a new update for your device. If there’s one, select the Download and Install button.

6. Use a third-party keyboard app

If your issue didn’t fix after this, it’s time to look for third-party keyboard options like Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard or Gboard for your iPhone. If you’re confused about which keyboard to choose, you can check out our list of the best keyboards for your iPhone and iPad.

7. Factory reset your iPhone or iPad

If nothing in this list works for you, the last resort is to reset your iPhone. Check out our guide to resetting your iPhone and iPad to do it. It’ll reset all your iPhone settings, including Auto-Correction.

Wrapping up…

We hope these tips fix Auto-Correction issues on your iPhone or iPad. If it still functions abnormally on your iPhone, you should take it to your nearest Apple service center. If your iPhone is under warranty or Apple Care+, they’ll fix it for free; otherwise, they’ll charge you a small fee.
