Suggested January 2024 Job Ad Confirms Apple Testing Health/Fitness Wearables
A new job ad discovered on Apple’s website Thursday has pretty much confirmed that the firm is working on and testing some kind of a health and fitness related wearable device. It’s the first semi-official confirmation of the rumored iWatch project if I ever saw one. I’m not sure if this is an unintentional slip up and why Apple would want to make this particular call for job applicants public.
Regardless, it’s now clear that Tim Cook & Co. have been staffing up with a lot of wearable experts from medical, fitness and biosensing fields. The job description mentions expertise in such health activities as cardiovascular fitness and energy expenditure, including “calories burned, metabolic rate, aerobic fitness level measurement/tracking” and more…
Mark Gurman, writing for 9to5Mac:
Apple has published a job listing on its website seeking physiologists and engineers to run tests related to health and fitness data.
This job will require the employees to “design and run user studies related to cardiovascular fitness & energy expenditure, including calories burned, metabolic rate, aerobic fitness level measurement/tracking and other key physiological measurements”.
The job listing makes mention of the following qualifications:
Good understanding of physiological monitoring equipment, measurement techniques and interpretation of results
Experience with indirect calorimetry to measure energy expenditure for a range of activities and environments
Ability to design tests isolating the impact of various factors (activities, environments, individual subject differences, etc.) on the physiological effects being measured
Experience with exercise testing – how to conduct, interpreting results, determining when to halt testing, etc.
Creative problem solver
Strong data analysis & tools experience (Excel, graphical analysis tools, etc.)
In-depth knowledge of key fitness indicators
Effective documentation skills
Detail & execution oriented, meticulous, highly organized
Driven to follow-through and carry projects through to completion
Ideal candidates have knowledge about the physiological effects of exercise and will know how to prevent inaccurate readings of heart rates and other data. Apple underscores the candidates will need to apply relevant knowledge to the “design of products and their testing/validation through user studies”.
Conveniently, the same author recently claimed that top Apple execs are meeting with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to discuss unspecified medical applications. Prior to being sold in the United States, health related devices must receive FDA approval. The iWatch is believed to be laden with a host of biometric sensors.
Over the past few weeks, it’s been discovered that Apple added a number of A-players to its hardware and software iWatch team, including sleep researchers, medical device experts and biosensing engineers.
The iWatch is said to read and analyze a user’s blood and glucose levels, monitor health-critical data such as heart rates and breathing, and more. These health and fitness tracking features will reportedly work in conjunction with a new application in iOS 8, allegedly called Healthbook.
Recent hirings of world-class wearable experts suggest to me that the iWatch hardware and software is still being worked on. If that’s the case, the device may not be ready for introduction this year at all.
By the way, does anyone believe this gig is a 40 hour a week job, as the ad indicates?

Apple has always emphasized health features in each iOS update. The company’s latest iOS 17 update is no different. The default Health app receives a major update in the newest iOS build. Mental Wellbeing add-on easily stands out among all the announced features. Here’s how you can use Mental Wellbeing on iPhone to reflect your state of mind over time in Apple Health.

5. We liked how the Health app changes the animation and the background to reflect your mood. For example, ‘Very Unpleasant’ shows a light purple background and ‘Pleasant’ changes the background to a yellow theme. It’s a small neat touch from Apple. Tap Next.
6. The Health app asks you to describe the feeling. You can pick from one of the suggested options or tap Show More to view all the options. Tap Next.
7. Select an option that has the biggest impact on you. You also have the option to add additional context. Tap Done.

1. Open Mental Wellbeing in Health (check the steps above). Select an option.
2. Tap Add Data in the top-right corner.
3. Select the schedule when you were exposed to Sun and tap Add.

Aside from Mental Wellbeing, the iOS 17 update is packed with nifty hidden features to try.
The two most recent Apple Watches in the current lineup share a lot of features in common but there are at least eight differences that account for the more expensive Apple Watch Series 7 price. Whether you’re looking for yourself or someone else, read on for Apple Watch SE vs 7 to help you figure out which one to pick.
Below we’ll focus specifically on Apple Watch SE vs 7 but in case you want to see a detailed comparison for Series 7, 6, and SE through Series 3, we’ve got that covered too:
While Apple Watch Series 8 is in the works, it likely won’t arrive until late 2023 alongside the iPhone 14.Apple Watch SE vs 7 Case and display
Two of the first differences between Apple Watch SE and 7 you’ll notice is that Series 7 has a slightly larger case at 45 and 41mm paired with a noticeably larger display.
The Series 7 display is 17% bigger than the SE and over 50% larger than the Series 3 display.

Another difference, Apple Watch SE doesn’t have an always-on display while the Series 7 does (first arrived with Series 5).
All Apple Watch bands fit both the Apple Watch SE and Series 7.Processor and storage
Interestingly, Apple uses the same 64-bit dual-core processor in the Series 7 that launched in the Series 6. It’s called the “S7” but the processor is the same as the S6.
That means Apple Watch SE only has a processor one year older than Series 7. While the SE will be plenty fast and responsive for most users, Apple says the Series 7 is “up to 20% faster” with the newest processor.
Both the Apple Watch SE and 7 feature 32GB of built-in storage.

Battery life is rated the same for Apple Watch SE and 7 at 18 hours.
However, one small detail is that Apple Watch 7 has up to 33% faster charging. Practically speaking, that’s powering up 0-80% in 45 minutes instead of around 60 for the other models.
When using Apple Watch Series 7 for sleep tracking, you also get 8 hours worth of use from an 8-minute charge.

Here’s a look at the core features you’re getting with Apple Watch SE vs 7. The two main capabilities you’re not getting are the ECG and Blood Oxygen apps.

Apple Watch SE is only available in aluminum space gray, silver, and gold finishes. Apple Watch Series 7 comes in those plus stainless steel (graphite, silver, gold) and titanium (space black and silver).
That also means Apple Watch SE only comes with Ion-X glass for the display but for Series 7 with stainless steel or titanium models, you get sapphire crystal displays that are somewhat more scratch resistant.Apple Watch SE vs 7 price
Apple Watch Series 7 comes with a starting price of $399 (often goes for less). Meanwhile, Apple Watch SE starts from $279 but is usually available for less.Apple Watch SE vs 7 conclusion
Apple Watch SE offers most of the great features of Apple Watch Series 7 at around $120 less.
If you’re okay without the larger always-on display plus the ECG and Blood Pressure apps, and fine sticking with an aluminum finish, Apple Watch SE is probably the best choice.
However, if you want the biggest screen, all of the health features, faster charging, plus options for steel or titanium finishes, you’ll need to go for the Series 7.

Testing is the most important stage in the process of delivery of any software product, as it not only validates the quality of the product but also provides an opportunity to the developer to improve it further.
Unit testing and integration testing are both software testing techniques, but they are quite different from each other in their scope and they focus on different parts of the software.
Read this article to learn more about unit testing and integration testing and how they are different from each other. What is Unit Testing?
Unit testing is a type of testing technique in which a single module is tested at a time. It is also known as white box testing. Unit testing checks if a small piece of code in the application is doing what it is supposed to do. In unit testing, a single module is going to be tested at a time, hence the focus of the tester is on the internal design of the application as well.
Unit testing is performed as the first stage of testing and it is generally performed by developers of the application. Parallel testing is not supported in unit testing because a single module is tested at a time in unit testing.
As a single module is tested at a time, so defects get easily identified and are locked as per module. Unit testing generally does not depend on the size of project, so it can be performed in both small and large sized projects. What is Integration Testing?
Integration testing is a type of testing in which multiple modules are tested to verify if different pieces of the modules are working together as expected. Thus, integration testing helps to validate the collection and interface modules of the product.
Integration testing is generally performed after performing the unit testing, because this testing requires the knowledge of interlinked modules and their interactions. Importance is given to the functionalities in the system interface among individual modules.
Integration testing covers only the functional testing of the product. It is often performed by test engineers and developers.Difference between Unit Testing and Integration Testing
The following are the important differences between Unit Testing and Integration Testing −
Unit testing is the testing where primarily single module is tested or it checks if the small piece of code is doing what it is supposed to do.
Integration testing is the testing where multiple modules are tested to verify that if different pieces of the modules are working together as per expectation or not.
A single module is going to be tested at a time, so the focus of the tester is on internal design of the application as well.
Multiple modules get integrated and are tested as a single module so tester focus more on integrated functionality rather on internal design of the application.
Unit testing is performed at the first stage of testing as it is performed first of all other testing processes.
Integration testing is performed after all modules get integrated are done with unit tested i.e. Integration testing is done after unit testing and before System testing.
Unit testing is also known as white box testing.
Integration testing is known as black box testing.
As unit testing as mentioned in above points performed at first stage of testing so generally performed by developers.
Integration testing is done after all modules get integrated and thus performed by Testers.
In unit testing, the detection of defects is comparatively easy as single module interaction at a time.
While in case of Integration testing, detection of defects is comparatively difficult as compare to Unit testing. Conclusion
The most significant difference that you should note here is that, in unit testing, only a single module is checked at a time; whereas in integration testing, multiple modules are tested simultaneously.
The same applies to the online world, if your ad is not attractive don’t expect your ad to be a big hit and do wonders for your website. But lets not lose hope, I’m going to outline below how you can create a killer PPC ad, and what factors to consider in setting up successful ad.Let’s start with the basics Why choose PPC over other marketing
As your site starts to rank well you can start to reduce the amount you’re spending on your PPC campaign and invest that in other marketing methods online and offline.
Another situation when you may consider to use a PPC is when you want to launch a new product or a new service, but you also want to test the service and see what response users are giving to it. You could create a landing page on your site, to which you can divert your ad traffic to, which you can monitor the results and test. This doesn’t just apply to launching new services, you can use the same method if you’re looking to expand into other countries or you want to target more visitors from certain areas. You can set your Google Adwords campaign to show in certain countries only, or even to test different language, to give you an idea of what to expect, it’s a good way of testing the waters. How to create the Killer Ad
There are some basic factors to consider in setting up the perfect PPC ad so that you benefit from your campaign.
Sometimes it’s better to work backwards, looking at your site and the call of actions you have on your site and how your site is performing and converting visitors. If you don’t have any call of action on your site, or your site is not very appealing, then you need to adress to this first, before launching your campaign. Otherwise it’s going to be money split down the drain. Having in mind what you want your visitors to do will help you in setting up call of actions on your site for your visitors.
Based on this you might want to create a landing page for your ad, which will have a clear bold message and direct your visitors to what you want them to do next, either buying your product or services, contacting you, or even subscribing to your newsletters, whatever your goal may be, there has to be one, to make your campaign worth while.
Research – This may sound obvious, but it’s forgotten many of the times, for example things like whom you will be targeting, and see who your ideal audience will be. To do a quick research you can ask your self some basic questions:
Who will be using the product or service
Is the service or product for all age groups and locations
How will they benefit form using my services or products
If you’re promoting a certain product, you can also mention the price of your product in your ad title, something along these lines Holidays from £200. A title like this will stick out from your competitors and also if someone is searching for a cheap holiday, it will be appealing towards them.
The keyword selection process works hand in hand with your market research phase above, as you would know by this stage whom you’re looking to target, what your potential buyers tend to generally look for online, so based on this you can select your keywords accordingly.
Titles: Test different titles with your ad, see which title is getting you more results, is it the Title with a call to action, or is it the title which displays your price or offer?
Description: Again similar to your title, change the description of each ad, try different phrases, and words. Sometimes the common words which you might think will work well does not necessary get the same response as you expected. Take some time to think out of the box and come up with couple of variation.
Landing Page: Besides altering the ad contents and settings, you can also try sending your visitors to different landing pages and see which one converts best for your business. Your ad may be perfect, but the landing page may need changing or altering to give your campaign that final finish. Take some time to test various landing pages.
Locations: Try testing different locations of your ad, sometimes you might get the response you’re looking for in other areas. Hence trying different locations will give you a better idea of which areas to focus on and which locations need more work.
PPC can be beneficial and bring in good results, if it is done correctly and monitored constantly.
