Airplay Mirroring is a fantastic feature of iOS present on the iPhone and iPad. It lets you mirror your iOS screen’s device, and basically everything that you do on it, to an Apple TV or a Mac computer. This turns out to be a incredibly useful feature while doing presentations and demos, creating screencasts or videos, or if you just want to showcase your iPad/iPhone photos on a bigger screen.

And the best past: Airplay Mirroring is incredibly easy to use as long as you have the right setup and software. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s needed and how to use Airplay Mirroring on the iPhone and iPad.

Requirements

1. An iPhone 4S/ iPad 2 or newer, running iOS 5 or any later version of iOS.

2. If you want to mirror to Apple TV: a 2nd gen or 3rd gen Apple TV running software version 5 or later.

3.If you want to mirror to a Mac: OS X Mountain Lion (or later) , a supported Mac, and an app to support mirroring. The list of supported Macs is:

iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)

Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)

MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)

MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)

Two main apps that allow you to mirror your iPhone/iPad screen to a Mac are Reflector  and Air Server . Both of these apps offer free trials, are available for $14.99 for a single user license, and have other licensing packages for multiple users. Both these apps also work on Windows PCs. I tried Reflector for iOS 6 and Air Server for iOS 7, and both seem to be really good.

4. A WiFi network. All devices taking part in the AirPlay Mirroring must be on the same local WiFi network.

Installing Your App

Installing these apps is very easy. Once you purchase (or try) these apps, a file will automatically download onto your PC/Mac. On Macs, the installation is very easy. All you have to do is drag the app into your Mac’s Applications folder, and you’re done. Once you open the app, it will ask you whether you want to try or buy the app. If you choose to try the app, Reflector has a limitation. It will automatically shut down after 10 minutes and will then need to be restarted. Also, after I had used Reflector 2 times, the app started telling me that my trial had expired. Try Air Server, that’s better.

On Windows, installing Reflector is nearly identical, with the only difference being you will need to allow Firewall access for the app.

How To Turn On AirPlay Mirroring On iOS 5 & 6

1. Open up the Multitasking Bar on your iOS device. This can be done by double-tapping the Home button. If you are on a iPad, you can open the multitasking bar by using a swipe up gesture from the bottom bezel, provided you have enabled multitasking gestures in Settings.

2. Now that you can see the multitasking bar, swipe on the recently used apps list from the left to the right. This will need to be done once on an iPad and twice on a iPhone. Swipe until you see the Airplay Mirroring icon.

3. Tap on the Airplay Mirroring icon. This will bring up a popover dialog showing you various devices that are available to mirror to on your WiFi network. Note that you will need to have Reflector or Air Server open on your PC/Mac for the it to be available to mirror to.

4. Tap to select either the Apple TV or the Mac and tap to toggle the Mirroring button below the device name to On.

How To Turn Airplay Mirroring On in iOS 7

1. Open up the Control Centre on your iOS 7 device. This can be done by swiping up from the bottom of the screen on the iPhone as well as the iPad.

3. Select the device you would like to mirror your iOS device’s screen to.

That’s it. This really is a superb feature that’s so easy to use.

How To Stream The 2023 World Series On Iphone, Ipad, Mac, And Apple Tv

The MLB World Series officially begins tonight, with the Boston Red Sox set to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. Game 1 is taking place at Fenway Park in Boston, but luckily you’ll be able to tune in from anywhere. Read on for details on how to stream the World Series from your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.

Game 1 is set to start at 8PM ET/5PM PT, with Fox handling the broadcast this year. As usual with Fox, they make it rather difficult to stream without some sort of cable solution – but here are some ideas.

Stream the World Series on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV

The easiest way to stream the World Series is through the Fox Sports Go application, which is available for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. Unfortunately to do this you’ll need a valid cable log-in, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be yours and could instead be that of a friend or family member.

Download the Fox Sports Go app from the App Store for free.

If you’re looking to stream the World Series from your Mac, you can do so via the Fox Sports website, but again you’ll need a cable login to do so.

If, however, you don’t have easy access to a cable provider login, you’re not completely out of luck. Many of the streaming TV platforms, including DirecTV Now, Sling, and others, offer free trials that give you access to the World Series.

Sling TV, for instance, is touting itself as the “best way to catch all the Fall Classic action.” You’ll need the company’s Sling Blue package, which offers a 7-day free trial and access to FOX. Sign up for a Sling TV’s free 7-day trial here. Just remember to cancel if you don’t wish to be charged. The plan will renew at $25 per month after the trial.

DirecTV Now, YouTube TV, PlayStation Vue, FuboTV, and Hulu with Live TV will also allow you to stream the World Series, and offer trial periods. Here are those details:

In addition to allowing you to stream the World Series via their dedicated applications, these services can also serve as cable provider logins if you’d prefer to stream via the Fox Sports Go app.

World Series 2023 schedule

Wondering if a 7-day trial will let you stream the World Series in its entirety? Well, as long as it’s not a full seven game series, you should be good to go. Here’s the full schedule:

Tuesday, Oct. 23

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Boston Red Sox on FOX Game 1 – 8:09 p.m. ET

Wednesday, Oct. 24

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Boston Red Sox on FOX Game 2 – 8:09 p.m. ET

Boston Red Sox @ Los Angeles Dodgers on FOX Game 3 – 8:09 p.m. ET

Saturday, Oct. 27

Boston Red Sox @ Los Angeles Dodgers on FOX Game 4 – 8:09 p.m. ET

Sunday, Oct. 28

How To Stop Apps On Your Iphone, Ipad Or Apple Tv From Tracking You

The App Tracking Transparency privacy feature in iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5 and tvOS 14.5 requires iPhone, iPad and Apple TV apps to obtain explicit consent from you before tracking you.

App Tracking Transparency: Now vs. before

Apple has been arguing that App Tracking Transparency is about giving people choice.

Apps that want to track your activity across other apps and websites are now required to put up a new system permissions dialog, not dissimilar from those you see when an app seeks permission to get your current geographical location or access your Photos library.

According to Apple’s description of the feature:

Before iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5, apps were able to leverage your IDFA identifier to track your activity across apps and websites from different developers for more accurate ad targeting. Such unsolicited tracking is an invasion of user privacy so Apple sought to do something about it.

With the App Tracking Transparency initiative now in effect, developers can no longer resort to IDFA cross-app tracking without getting explicit user permission first. In other words, tracking went from an opt-out feature before iOS 14.5 to being an opt-in on iOS 14.5.

Any apps found to track users without consent will be removed from the App Store altogether, the Cupertino technology giant warns in a post on the Apple Developer website.

How to stop an iPhone app from tracking you

The first time you open an app after upgrading to iOS 14.5 or iPadOS 14.5, you’ll be greeted with Apple’s new privacy prompt seeking your permission to track you. From there, you can very easily choose to either not be tracked by this app or to permit tracking.

At any point in time, you can change that setting for that specific app by following these directions:

Open Settings on your iPhone, or iPad.

Choose Privacy from the root list.

Turn tracking on or off for an app displayed in the list of apps.

What happens when you give tracking permission

Not all apps track your activity invasively for ad targeting, some do it to improve features like content recommendations. If you decide to permit an app to track you, doing so will allow information about you or your device collected through the app to be combined with information that third parties already have.

It is not considered tracking when the app developer:

Combines information about you or your device on your device, without sending data off of your device in a way that identifies you.

Shares information about you or your device with data brokers solely for the purpose of fraud detection/prevention or security purposes.

When the data broker with which the app developer shares information about you or your device is a consumer reporting agency and the information is shared for purposes of reporting on your credit activity or to obtain information on your creditworthiness in order to determine your eligibility for credit.

If you’d rather not see those prompts at all, you can disable tracking altogether.

How to stop iOS apps from tracking you altogether

To revoke tracking permission or stop tracking altogether for all the apps installed on your iPhone and iPad, use the updated privacy settings in iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5.

Open Settings on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

Choose Privacy from the root list.

Slide the switch next to Allow Apps to Request to Track to the OFF position.

This will stop all apps installed on this device from tracking your activity across other companies’ apps and websites.

When you disable “Allow Apps to Request to Track,” any new apps installed on your device that attempt to ask for your permission to track you across other apps and websites will be blocked from asking and automatically informed that you have requested not to be tracked.

How to stop app tracking on Apple TV

To stop a single Appel TV app from tracking your activity across other apps and websites, open the Settings app on your Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K with tvOS 14.5 or later. Now choose Privacy → Tracking, then select the app in the list below the heading “Tracking.”

To stop app tracking completely in tvOS 14.5 or newer, open the Settings app on your Apple TV, then select Privacy → Tracking and disable “Allow Apps to Request to Track.”

How To Disable Icloud Photo Library On Iphone, Mac, And Apple Tv

Maybe you no longer want to store your entire photo library to iCloud or some other cloud services have caught your attention. Whatever could be the reason, you have decided to turn off iCloud Photo Library. This complete guide can take you through ensuring you are able to not just disable the photo syncing but also prevent the stored images from being deleted.

Apple offers you the desired flexibility to manage your synced photos. Therefore, if you ever want to turn off iCloud syncing of your photos, you can get it done without any pain.

Quick navigation:

How to Disable iCloud Photo Library Only On an Individual Device

You can choose to turn off iCloud Photo Library on a single device or disable it across the devices. If you want to use the cloud service but wish to exclude a device from it, you have the option to get it done. On the other hand, if you want to put a full stop on this feature, you can download all of your original photos and videos and also disable it.

On iPhone and iPad

Step #1. Launch the Settings app on your iOS device.

Step #2. Now, tap on Apple ID banner → iCloud → Photos.

Step #3. Next, turn off the switch next to the iCloud Photo Library.

Alternately, Settings app → Photos → turn off the switch next to iCloud Photo Library.

Now, you may see two options:

Remove from iPhone: If you choose this option, the photos that are yet to be fully downloaded will be removed from this iPhone. However, these images will still be available on other devices which are using the iCloud Photo Library

Download Photos & Videos: Allows you to download all of your images. I would recommend you to select Download Photos & Videos and wait until they have been downloaded. But if you don’t need them, go with the remove option

Note: On your device running iOS 10.2 or earlier, open Settings → iCloud → Photos and turn off the switch next to iCloud Photo Library.

In iOS 12 and macOS Mojave, iCloud Library is named as iCloud Photos.

On Mac

Step #1. Launch System Preferences on your Mac.

On Apple TV 4th-gen or Apple TV 4K

Step #1. Launch the Settings app on your Apple TV.

Step #3. Next, disable the iCloud Photo Library.

If you no longer want to use the cloud service, you can turn it off across your devices.

How to Turn Off iCloud Photo Library on All Devices

On your iOS device

Step #1. Open Settings app on your iOS device → Apple ID banner  → iCloud → Manage Storage.

Step #2. Now, Tap on Photos and then select Disable & Delete.

On your iPhone running iOS 10.2 or earlier, launch Settings → iCloud → Storage → Manage Storage → iCloud Photo Library, then choose Disable and Delete.

On your Mac

Step #1. Launch System Preferences on your Mac → iCloud.

Step #3. Next, Select Photo Library and then choose Disable and delete.

Keep in mind that your photos will be stored in your account for 30 days. After that, they will be deleted.

To download your photos and videos on your iOS device, open Settings app → Apple ID banner → iCloud → Photos and select Download and Keep Originals

On your Mac, launch Photos app select Photos → Preferences, then check the box next to Download Originals to this Mac

That’s all there is to it!

Wrapping up…

iCloud is undoubtedly the most secure cloud service in the world. It keeps your data protected through top-grade encryption. May I know the reason why you no longer use it? And if you have found any other service worth giving a try, do tell us its name and the features that have attracted you.

Apple Reportedly Planning Massive Q3 Rollout For Iwatch, Ipad, Iphone, And Apple Tv Updates

KGI Research analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released a timeline indicating that Apple is planning a massive rollout for multiple new products in Q3 2014. According to the Kuo, the only thing we can expect to see in the first half of the year is a small iMac update. Starting at the end of the third quarter and continuing into the beginning of the fourth, however, Apple will update most of its product lineup: iPad Air and mini, the Apple TV, and the MacBook family.

Two new products reportedly planned for this timeframe are the iWatch, which Kuo says will be available in two different sizes, and the long-rumored 4.7-inch iPhone. The 5.5-inch iPhone that was reportedly delayed due to manufacturing issues with the display is said to be coming near the end of Q4, making it the last release for this year.

An interesting note on the iPhone 6 design also appears in the KGI report:

Power button location changed for first time. Our understanding is that iPhone 6’s power button might be moved from the top to the side. We think this change is meant to facilitate one-hand operation and might indicate new application that require more frequent use of the power button.

Moving the power button from the top of the phone to the side would certainly make sense if the new phone is going to be much taller than the iPhone 5.

The note also predicts that the iWatch will be available in several different styles (in two sizes, as mentioned above), with an emphasis on design and fashion:

Fashion is the name of the game; most expensive model likely priced at several thousand US dollars. Referring to the rules of the fashion market, we predict the iWatch casing and band will come in various materials. The most expensive model of the iWatch line will carry a price tag of several thousand US dollars. Assuming the iWatch proves to be a success, we expect Apple’s key competitors in 5-10 years will be the current fashion brands, not the existing tech companies.

Interestingly, Kuo suggests that the iPhone 6 will sport an NFC chip—an idea that was quite popular several years ago but in recent update cycles has fallen by the wayside in favor of Touch ID and other enhacements.

Apple to offer all-new design 4.7” and 5.5” iPhone 6. Although the 5.5” model will have higher resolution (1,920×1,080/401PPI) than the 4.7” (1,334×750/326PPI), due to same proportion in terms of length and width, it is good for APP compatibility. Specifications common to both models will include A8 processor, LPDDR3 1GB, LTPS panel, in-cell touch, Touch ID (fingerprint identification), 10-20% narrower bezel, 6.5-7.0mm thickness, NFC chip with security element and metal casing. [Italics emphasis added]

Other iPhone 6 predictions state that only the 64 GB version of the 5.5-inch model will include a sapphire Touch ID cover due to supply issues.

The larger iPhone will be positioned as a “phablet” device rather than a “smartphone” and will include a much larger battery. According to the KGI prediction, the larger iPhone’s battery capacity could be as much as 50-70% higher than the 4.7-inch model, though the battery life would be similar due to the extra power required for the larger display.

The camera in the iPhone 6 is also said to remain at 8 MP but will get a longer exposure time to improve quality:

iPhone 6 rear camera still 8MP and f2.2 aperture same as iPhone 5S, but OIS will increase exposure time. iPhone 6’s rear camera won’t have pixel and aperture upgrade, but the adoption of OIS will increase exposure time, which can improve image quality. We think this change will indeed produce better photos than just increasing pixel number.

The report notes that Apple is believed to be working on a 12.9-inch iPad to fill out the rest of the lineup. This device won’t be announced this year, but is said to be something Apple is considering. A new user interface is also rumored to accomdate easier input on the larger screen:

We believe Apple is working on a 12.9” iPad to generate new growth momentum. Apple will want to boost shipments and profits by offering a better entertainment and productivity experience with a 12.9” iPad. But we think this product is unlikely to come out this year. With the 12.9” iPad, we think Apple will come up with a new user interface that’s more innovative and intuitive, so that input will be as efficient as a device with keyboard.

KGI is usually pretty reliable on the product details in reports like this, though the timing is sometimes less accurate.
