Suggested March 2024 Huawei Honor 8X And Honor 8X Max: All You Need To Know

After several weeks of rumors and leaks, Huawei Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max are now official. The two were announced at an event in China on September 5th and are here to succeed the highly impressive Honor 7X.

Like other Huawei Honor phones released in 2023, you are getting the usual stuff such as a notched display screen, dual cameras, and plenty of AI to go with, all at affordable prices. Let’s take a closer look at the specs you are getting on the Honor 8X and 8X Max.

Honor 8X

6.5-inch 19.5:9 FHD+ LCD screen

Kirin 710 chipset

4GB or 6GB RAM

64GB or 128GB storage

Dual 20MP + 2MP main camera

16MP front camera

3750mAh battery

Android 8.1 Oreo

Honor 8X Max

7.12-inch 18.7:9 FHD+ LCD screen

Snapdragon 636 chipset

4GB or 6GB RAM

64GB or 128GB storage

Dual 16MP + 2MP main camera

8MP front camera

5000mAh battery

Android 8.1 Oreo

As noted earlier, the Honor 8X is the direct successor to last year’s Honor 7X. And indeed there are lots of upgrades on the table, right from the design language and all the way to the specs and features. With the Kirin 710 chipset, the 8X becomes the first Honor device to rock this chipset and third Huawei device after the Nova 3i and Mate 20 Lite. This chipset comes with not just performance improvements and power efficiency, but also lots of AI capabilities that we’ve seen in devices powered by the outgoing flagship chipset, Kirin 970.

Despite its massive 6.5-inch notched display screen, the Honor 8X is just 160.4mm tall. The phone also comes with features such as Bluetooth 4.2, microUSB, 3.5mm audio jack, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4 and 5GHz), GPS, GLONASS and so on.

While some of these features have been retained on the Honor 8X Max, the name alone tells us that the device is bigger in size, featuring a tablet-sized 7.12-inch display screen with a notch, but on the inside, it has a Snapdragon 636 chipset instead of the Kirin 710. Other than the display size, the other highlight of the Honor 8X Max is the 5000mAh battery unit that requires only 2 hours to fully charge using the out-of-the-box fast charger.

You are also getting things like Bluetooth 4.2, microUSB, 3.5mm audio jack, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and lots of AI for the cameras and general functionality.

Price and availability

The global availability of the Honor 8X, including the U.S. where Honor’s parent company, Huawei, is being hunted by the government, has been confirmed by the company beginning in October 2023. Those in China started buying the phone on September 11th priced at CNY 1399 (about $205 or INR 14,700) for the base model of 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, CNY 1599 (about $235) for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant, and CNY 1899 (about $280) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option. You can have it in Black, Blue, Red or Purple, although it’s unlikely that all color options will be available globally.

In Europe, the 8X price will begin at €279 while those in the UK will part with £230. If you are in India, the Honor 8X starts selling on October 24th priced at INR 14,999. U.S. pricing is still unknown, but the phone’s availability is confirmed. The outgoing Honor 7X was priced at $199, so we expect something similar for the 8X.

In China, you can have the base model of the Honor 8X Max with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage at CNY 1499 (about $220 or INR 15,800) and the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant at CNY 1799 (about $265 or INR 18,900). To get your hands on the premium 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant that also comes with a superior chipset in Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, you’ll have to wait until October 2023, which is when pricing details will be made public. The phone comes in Black, Blue and Red colors.

Unlike the standard Honor 8X, the status of the 8X Max’s global availability is unclear, but we do hope those who won’t be buying the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will have an alternative with an equally massive 7.1-inch display screen from across the globe.

Best Cases For The Huawei Honor 10

Back when Huawei planned to step out of the Chinese market to spread their reach globally, they needed a brand name that was easily recognizable. This is where the Honor series was born, starting off as a way to introduce cheap and affordable devices that offered more firepower in terms of performance than the regular flock.

Fast forward a few years and now even the Honor brand is broken down into affordable mid-range devices such as the Honor 7X, and premium flagship material like the Honor 10.

While still easily qualifying as one of the cheapest flagship-worthy devices out there, Honor 10 stands apart not just by the quality of its hardware and software, but its physical appearance too. The multi-layer back panel of the Honor 10 is awe-inspiring, but it is glass after all and thus susceptible to breaking if dropped.

To protect your investment and make sure that the beautiful piece of technology stays intact, here are some of the best Huawei Honor 10 cases you should try out.

1. Official Honor 10 Smart View Flip Case

Considering that the Honor 10 is the pride and joy of the brand this year, it seems obvious that the company would push out a few accessories of their own too. Huawei must be well-aware of the fact that a dual-glass design needs ample of protection, which is why they’ve introduced the Smart View Flip Case.

Built with faux leather and precisely for the Honor 10, it fits perfectly and feels rich to hold, but the real blockbuster feature is the front panel of the flip cover, which is designed with a special Smart View window that gives you a sneak peek at all the important notifications, time, date, and other details without even flipping open the case.

→ Buy Official Honor 10 Smart View Flip Case

2. Orzly Honor 10 FlexiCase

A brand that has popularized mobile protection by itself, Orzly is unsurprisingly one of the first ones to bring its FlexiCase protector to the Honor 10. There’s nothing quite special about the design of the Orzly FlexiCase, but it is the little details, such as the raised lip for the front screen and the camera bump protection are what make it a handy layer of protection over your Honor 10.

But if you don’t want to hinder the look of your device, you can even go for the Transparent version for a see-through look, while still keeping your phone safe from dings and scratches.

→ Buy Orzly Honor 10 FlexiCase

3. Spigen Rugged Armor

Looks are great and the Honor 10 certainly has them, but what good does your phone do with a shattered glass on the front and the back? Spigen gets this, which is why they’ve created the Rugged Armor case which brings the signature carbon fiber accents and the protection of premium quality TPU all around the chassis that looks good at the same time too.

Apart from the tactile buttons that feel good to press even with the layer of protection over it, you even get specially designed grip and anti-scratch surface with the Spigen Rugged Armor to make sure that it lasts a lifetime.

→ Buy Spigen Rugged Armor

4. Olixar Leather-Style Wallet Case

While sleek looking TPU cases have their own beauty to it, it might make your precious Honor 10 look like just another run of the mill mobile device. For those who like the finer things in life and want the same for their mobile phone, Olixar has crafted the Leather-Style Wallet Case that looks and feels rich as well.

The phone doubles up not just as a wallet to store a couple of cards and some hard cash, but as a foldable stand as well, while the magnetic clasp ensures that the front flip doesn’t come loose by itself, thus keeping the front and the back well-protected.

→ Buy Olixar Leather-Style Wallet Case

5. Anccer Ultra-Thin Case

As tempting as it may be to flaunt around your Honor 10 and the shimmering glass back around to the world, you know for a fact that it’s just an accident waiting to happen. But the problem with most cases it that they add too much bulk to the phone, making it a menace to carry around, which is why Anccer’s Ultra-Thin Case makes it to this list.

Available in a variety of colors (Smooth Black, Gravel Green, Smooth Rose Gold and many more), the case wraps around the entire frame, along with a specialized bump to keep the dual-camera lens protected even from the scariest of falls.

→ Buy Anccer Ultra-Thin Case

6. T-Zero Bumper Protective Case

Just like smartphones themselves, cases are also broken down into different categories based on their design style and the protection they offer, and you usually have to compromise one for the other.

But then there are cases like this Bumper Protective Case from T-Zero which not only offer all-around protection but adds a bit of class with a faux leather back that is soft to the touch and easy on the eyes too. Available in Gray, Indigo, Black, and Red color variants, the inner design of the case also helps with heat dissipation and improves airflow.

→ Buy T-Zero Bumper Protective Case

7. Ferlinso Elegant Leather Case

With the larger displays and more pixels that they push each year, our smartphones are getting larger as well, so it isn’t a surprise that some are replacing their wallets with phone cases. If the typical round of cases and covers are way too mainstream for you, the Ferlinso Honor 10 case is sure to seem like a fresh breath of air.

Packed with multi-layer PU leather material and RFID blocking technology, you get three slots to store your cards and cash, along with some gorgeous feminine colors in Rose Gold and Red, along with Brown and Black as well.

→ Buy Ferlinso Elegant Leather Case

8. Olixar Sentinel Case and Glass Screen Protector

While making it back once more on the list is Olixar, with an all-rounder protector case that offers accents of a modern-day smartphone. Packed with carbon fiber details on the top and bottom of the rear panel with a brushed metal finish for you to feel and enjoy, the best addition that you get with the Olixar Sentinel Case is the added security of a tempered glass screen protector.

So even if your phone somehow manages to take the impact on the screen even with the rugged case installed, the glass screen protector will take the brunt of the force for it.

→ Buy Olixar Sentinel Case and Glass Screen Protector

Do you think you’re brave enough to flaunt around your gorgeous Honor 10 with no protective case installed? We recommend that you save the heroics and get yourself one of the best Huawei Honor 10 cases right now.

Nokia 2V: All You Need To Know

The world bore witness to its ascent and eventual global domination in the mobile world all through the 1990s and 2000s. Several of is products, such as Nokia 6600 and Nokia 3310 were rockstars in their own right. Powered by Symbian OS, Nokia phones came to be known for their hard-as-a-rock build quality.

When the next revolution came in the form of touchscreen phones and Android OS, Nokia was swept away in the storm. Following a series of sellouts, shutdowns, and acquisitions, Nokia was administered CPR and brought back to life by its owner HMD Global, with Android as its operating system, beginning from 2024.

Since then, Nokia has seen decent success and has been building up its reputation steadily. With its latest offering, the Nokia 2V, the brand promises to deliver on its newfound adulation.

Nokia 2V Specs

5.5-inch 16:9 HD+ LCD display

Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor

8GB expandable storage, up to 128GB

8 MP rear camera

5 MP front camera

4000mAh battery

Android 8.1 Oreo Go, upgradable to Android Pie

Colors: Blue, Silver

Officially named the Nokia 2.1, Verizon Wireless rechristened it as the Nokia 2V, which is why the phone is recognized more by the former name than the latter.

Pricing and Availability

Nokia 2V is sold all over the U.S. in Verizon stores and on their official website priced at $69.99.

→ Buy Nokia 2V at Verizon

What you should know about the Nokia 2V

Here is a rundown of some of the features you should know about the Nokia 2V. The main attributes of the device discussed below highlight why it id good, and why it isn’t.

Larger Battery

For such an incredibly reasonable price, the Nokia 2V holds a hefty 4000mAh battery. Coupled with Android Go, an operating system designed to minimize battery expenditure, the Nokia 2V can do a marathon run of 2 days on a single charge. The phone can also be charged pretty quickly thanks to the support for 5V/2A that pumps a maximum of 10W, the most a non-fast charging phone can allow.

Better Performance

As noted, the Nokia 2V runs on Android 8.1 Oreo Go edition. The phone has been diligently crafted to cut costs on the frills and trills that come in every other phone but are not of much use to anyone, yet made zero compromises on the essentials. Being an Android Go phone entails that there is no lag, no speedy battery drain, even after app updates.

Even better is that HMD Global will be rolling out the update to Android 9 Pie Go edition before the end of Q1 2023.

Rudimentary Design

From an aesthetic perspective, Nokia 2V does not score high with us. Its metallic casing feels a little tacky. It comes in 2 basic colors, navy blue and silver, when there are far more attractive and bold colors selling like hot cakes – rose gold, for instance.

With a mere 1GB of RAM, Nokia 2V sorely disappoints. Nokia may be hoping to get away with this based on the real-time performance of the phone on the Android Go operating system, but even by those standards, 1GB of RAM feels like heading back to ancient times, right?

Nevertheless, the Nokia 2V is still a great phone for anyone in the market for a backup phone that hardly disappoints or even one for kids.

Should you buy the Nokia 2V?

Well, considering all of the above, the good battery it packs in and a decent performance Nokia’s software provides, we have to say that the 2V is a solid option.

If you are in a market for a very basic smartphone at Verizon, then Nokia 2V sure ticks all the must-have boxes.

Another option you have is Moto E5 Plus, which as its plus and down points compared to the Nokia 2V, but for their price, both are good features, and you shall buy whichever you like the most. For this price, these two are the best of the lot.

Is Zoom Still Down? All You Need To Know

Zoom is one of the most popular video conferencing apps in 2023 since the pandemic started. It offers you the ability to connect with up to 100 people on a free account which is unmatched by any competitor on the market. You also get the ability to add virtual backgrounds to your video feed — an option first introduced by Zoom among all the popular video calling apps we have today.

Due to the huge number of users, Zoom often encounters server issues which can cause interruption of services. If you have been unable to use Zoom lately, then it is likely that the service is down. Let’s take a look at the current status of Zoom.

Is Zoom still down?

No, Zoom was facing technical difficulties on 24th August 2023,  but their software team has now fixed the issues. Zoom servers are functioning normally currently including the Zoom Chat, Conference Room, Web client, Phone client, and desktop client.

If you are still facing connectivity errors during your meetings then we recommend you check your connection. If you are able to access the internet but not attend meetings in Zoom then check your firewall. If your firewall is blocking Zoom then you will need to unblock it to use Zoom properly.

How can I check the status of Zoom?

Zoom has a support page that is regularly updated with all the operational clients offered by Zoom. If any of the services features/variants are down then this page will intimate you. You can keep a track of the status page in case you are facing issues to see if Zoom is currently down and unavailable. Visit the link below to check the status of Zoom.

► Check Live Zoom Status Here

Unable to use Zoom? Try these Fixes

If the Zoom status page shows that the service is currently operational but you are still unable to connect to Zoom servers then here are a few general fixes that you can try to fix the problem. If not fix the problem, they will surely help you identify what is causing the issue. Let’s take a quick look at them.

Check your network connection

The first thing you should do is to check your network connection. It is likely that your internet is currently not available which is why you are unable to access Zoom.

Try a different network

If your network is working properly then we recommend you try connecting to a different network. Different network configurations and router-based firewalls can sometimes block Zoom. If Zoom works on a different network then it is likely that the previous one was blocking your Zoom connection.

Check your firewall

If your networks are working fine then it is time to check your device’s firewall. See if your firewall is blocking the connection to Zoom and unblock Zoom if that is the case. If you use a VPN then try whitelisting Zoom to see if that fixes the issue for you. If this fixes the issue, then you can later try to get Zoom working on a VPN through a router configuration instead.

Uninstall and Reinstall Zoom

If nothing seems to work, try to reinstall Zoom. This should fix any bugs that might be preventing you from accessing the Zoom servers. If you are on a mobile device, then you can also try clearing the app data as that might fix the issue for you as well.

Use a different browser if using the WebClient

If you are using a desktop browser to access the Zoom WebClient then maybe try a different browser. New updates for your browser might have broken the functionality of Zoom’s web client. Another browser will help you connect to Zoom while you wait for a compatibility fix for your other browser from Zoom.

Log out and log in again

If nothing seems to work for you then go to your Zoom account settings and log out of all connected devices and browsers. Now log back in again to your desired Zoom client. If a faulty login was the cause of your issue, this should fix Zoom for you. This will help you if you have recently changed your Zoom accounts settings like username, membership plan, password, and more.

Lastly, if you are unable to connect to the Zoom servers and nothing seems to be working for you then you can try contacting the Zoom support team. They offer prompt help and solutions for almost every issue faced by the user. If an underlying bug is the cause of your connectivity error then the support team will be able to inform the developers and reproduce the error which will help the development team release the appropriate fix at the earliest.

Motorola Moto Z4 Force: All You Need To Know

Latest news

June 01, 2024: Following the launch of the Moto Z4, questions have been asked of Motorola with respect to the Moto Z4 Force. And apparently, the company, through the official Motorola U.S. Twitter account, says there won’t be a Moto Z4 Force, or any other Moto Z devices for that matter, this year.

Hi Raffi. We will not be announcing additional moto z devices this year.

— motorolaus (@MotorolaUS) May 30, 2023

It’s usually hard to believe social media managers of these tech companies regarding such huge company plans, but for now, it’s all we got. The original post continues below.

Motorola isn’t doing quite well in the premium smartphone segment, perhaps the reason it never bothered to refresh the Moto Z2 Force from 2023 with a new Moto Z3 Force when it unveiled the Moto Z3 and Z3 Play last year. However, reports this year suggest that we have the Moto Z4 Force in the works, probably at the expense of the Moto Z4 Play.

It had consistently been rumored that the Moto Z4 Play will be the device to be unveiled alongside the standard Moto Z4, but recent reports claim a certain Moto Z4 Force is also in the works. It has also been claimed that this year, Motorola could skip the Play variant altogether.

At this point, it’s hard to tell what Moto’s plans are for the next-gen Moto Z series, but based on rumors, leaks, and speculations, here’s what we know so far about the alleged Moto Z4 Force.

Moto Z4 Force specifications [rumored]

6.4-inch QHD+ OLED display

Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor

128GB expandable storage

Tri-lens main camera: 48MP (f/1.6) + 13MP (f/1.8) + Telephoto lens (f/2.0)

25MP front camera

3230mAh battery

Android 9 Pie

Extras: Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C, In-display fingerprint scanner, TurboCharge rapid charging, etc.

Same design language as the standard model

Most of the leaks we’ve seen so far are for the standard Moto Z4 (or Moto Z4 Play for that matter). While we still have no idea how the Moto Z4 Force will look like, it has been claimed that the device could borrow the design language of the standard model, but not entirely.

For instance, the display screen size could be the same and so could be the placement of the fingerprint scanner, but Z4 Force may miss out on the 3.5mm audio jack. Also, the fact that the Z4 Force is expected to come with a smaller battery unit suggests it will be thinner than the standard Z4.

Apparently, the Moto Z4 Force will also get a tri-lens camera as opposed to the dual-lens shooter expected on the Z4, but for the most part, everything else about the design remains the same.

As usual, the version of Android 9 Pie to power the Z4 Force out of the box will be near stock, although Moto should include a few useful tweaks of its own, among them Moto Actions, Moto Display, and so on.

5G Moto Mod

Motorola is still keeping modularity alive with the Moto Z4 series and given that the Moto Z3 can support 5G with the help of the 5G Moto Mod, the Z4 Force should also follow suit.

Verizon begins its 5G journey in mid-May 2023 with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G. The carrier is also the exclusive seller of the Moto Z3 in the U.S.

Moto Z4 Force price and availability

As pointed out, Motorola isn’t having a good time in the premium smartphone business. The company has in recent times been forced to focus more on the midrange and budget segments and it seems to be doing great to a point of wanting to push the standard Moto Z4 as a midrange device and not a premium phone.

Even better is that reports coming in point to an interesting price tag for the Moto Z4 Force believed to be around $650. This would make it one of the most affordable Snapdragon 855 smartphone and given Moto’s reputation, many would easily fall for this, especially if sold through multiple U.S. carriers.

Speaking of, we don’t have any specifics about the availability of the device, but given the previous Moto Z3 handset came out in August, it’s possible the Moto Z4 and Z4 Force will arrive in August 2023.

Thoughts on the Moto Z4 Force?
