8.5K

Snapchat has a ton of innovative features such as lenses, filters, bitmojis, games, etc. that make the app fun to use. I recently discovered you can Shazam on Snapchat to identify both songs playing around you and inside Snapchat too. Snapchat has integrated Shazam. However, there’s no easy way to identify songs playing in the background of others’ Snapchat stories or in other words, in-app. After some tinkering around, I found a way to both discover songs playing on Snapchat and around you. Let’s begin.

1. How to Shazam a Song on Snapchat

Snapchat has a native arrangement with Shazam to discover songs within the app. It is meant to quickly discover songs playing in the background when you’re out and about having fun at a party or club. You can identify the song and put the sticker in your story to let people know of the song being played in your Story.

To identify the song in Snapchat, simply open the Shazam app, press and hold the empty screen to activate Shazam.

Shazam will take a few seconds to fetch the song and show up as a card that you can put on your Snapchat Stories. This method works on both Android and iOS versions of the Snapchat app.

2. How to Find a Song Playing on Snapchat Using Shazam on Snapchat

Discovering songs playing in your surroundings is easy. But, how to find a song playing inside a Snapchat Story in your friend’s profile? Well, there are ways to get around that but Android and iPhone have separate methods for the same.

Use Shazam in Snapchat to Find Songs On iPhone

Thanks to Apple’s Shazam acquisition, the music recognition is now baked in the iOS itself. iOS 14 offers a native way to identify songs using Shazam. The feature works amazingly well and regardless of the app you’re playing music on.

First, you’d need to enable Shazam from the Control Center in the Settings app. Open Settings and scroll down to Control Center. Enable Shazam from the list of options by tapping the plus button next to “Music Recognition”.

Now simply open the Story in Snapchat that has the song you wish to identify using Shazam. Open the Control Center on your iPhone and tap the Shazam button. It would listen to the audio in the Snapchat story and present the results in the notification shade.

You can then simply tap the notification to open the song in Apple Music or Spotify.

Use Shazam in Snapchat to Find Songs On Android

The method to identify songs on Android isn’t as convenient as it is on the iPhone. However, Shazam can still identify songs from any app. You need to install the Shazam app on your Android smartphone to make it work.

After installing Shazam, you’d find the option “Shazam from Pop-Up” on the home page. If you don’t see it there, you can go ahead and find it in Settings.

It would prompt you to allow permissions to draw over apps. This permission would allow Shazam to create a small button that sits on top of every app and you can shazam any song just by tapping the button. Enable Shazam from Pop-Up in the Settings.

After that, you’d see a Shazam button floating on the screen. You can press this button to activate the mic and identify a song.

Simply open a Snapchat story that has the music you wish to identify and tap the Shazam button to start the process. You’d get an instant result as a chat bubble and add it to your playlist through the Shazam app.

How Do You Shazam on Snapchat

These are all the ways to find and identify songs on Snapchat. The inbuilt method is decent and works most of the time on both Android and iOS. However, the music recognition process to find songs from other apps is a bit finicky on Android. Shazam on Android uses the actual mic to pick up the audio from the speaker which results in poor recognition. This is not the case with iPhone as iOS listens to the audio spit out by an app via software and gives more accurate results. What do you think? Do you use Shazam to find music in Snapchat stories too? Come and start a conversation with me on Twitter.

How To Find Hidden Files And Folders On Windows

When you open a folder in Windows File Explorer, you expect to see the full contents — all the files, all the sub-folders. That isn’t necessarily true, however. If the folder you’re looking in contains hidden files or folders, Windows won’t show them unless you’ve enabled hidden file view in File Explorer.

If you want to know how to find hidden folders on Windows 10 and any hidden files contained within, you’ll need to use some of the methods we’ve listed below. This includes using secret search tools in File Explorer and Windows PowerShell to locate them, as well as using third-party alternatives like FreeCommander.

Table of Contents

How to Find Find Hidden Files and Folders on Windows 10 Using File Explorer

In the new File Explorer window, open the folder (or drive) that you’re looking to search. Using the search bar in the top right, type attributes:H and select the enter key to begin the search. This searches for all files and folders within that folder that have the hidden file attribute applied to them in the Properties menu.

If you want to customize the search further, you can add a file or folder name (or partial name) to the search. To do this, type the file or folder name before or after the attributes:H parameter in the search bar (eg. file attributes:H). If you want to search for partial match, you can use a wildcard (eg. fil* attributes:H) to do so.

Searching for Hidden Files and Folders Using Windows Powershell

While the File Explorer method above offers the easiest way to find hidden files and folders on Windows 10, it isn’t necessarily the quickest. If you want to quickly search through your PC for any files you’ve missed, a good alternative is to use the Windows PowerShell to do so.

You can also use the newer Windows Terminal, but PowerShell remains the default option for Windows 10 users. The commands below are PowerShell specific and won’t work with the older Command Line.

In the new PowerShell window, move to the folder or drive you wish to search. For instance, typing cd C: will move you to the root (first) folder on the main system drive, allowing you to search the entire drive.

Typing cd C:Program Files means that the search you perform will only work through any files and sub-folders contained in the Program Files folder. Once you’ve moved folders, type ls -Force to view a list of files and folders contained within (including any hidden files or folders).

This will search for all hidden files and sub-folders in your current folder position and list them in the PowerShell window.

If you’d prefer to list a folder directory to begin the search, add -Path location to your command after Get-ChildItem, replacing location with a suitable file path.

If PowerShell locates a large number of hidden files and folders, the PowerShell terminal output will scroll through the entries rapidly, making it difficult to analyze. To make this easier, you can save the output of the Get-ChildItem command to a text file, allowing you to search through and review at your leisure.

If you’ve created a log file, you can view the contents in the PowerShell window directly by typing cat chúng tôi (replacing chúng tôi with the correct file path and file name). You can also open the file as normal using File Explorer and Notepad.

Locating Hidden Files and Folders Using Third-Party Apps

The best methods for finding hidden files and folders on Windows are to use File Explorer or Windows PowerShell as explained above. If these methods are too slow or don’t offer the complex search criteria that you need, you can use third-party apps to search your PC for hidden files as an alternative.

While various tools exist that support this, one good option is to use the freeware FreeCommander tool. This File Explorer replacement includes a powerful search tool that allows you to locate hidden files and folders on your PC.

In the Search files/folders window, enter the search criteria for file or folder names in the File name box, located in the Location tab. You can use full file names or find partial matches using a wildcard (eg. file or fil*).

Select the Timestamp/Size/Attr tab next and make sure to select the Hidden attribute checkbox so that a tick is visible. Leave all other checkboxes with a solid black check (ensuring that they’re included) or select them twice to uncheck them and remove any files containing those attributes from your search.

Select any other search criteria that you require in all the available search tabs. When you’re ready to begin your search, select Find to begin.

Managing Your Files on Windows 10

Knowing how to find hidden files on Windows 10 is easy — once you know where to look. Whether you use File Explorer, Windows PowerShell, or third-party apps like FileCommander to get the job done, the steps above should help you locate your previously hidden files and folders.

How To Fix Iphone Videos Not Playing On Android Phones

Did you transfer a video file from your iPhone to an Android phone, but it doesn’t play on the Android phone? Sometimes, it also happens that the iPhone video stutters on the Android phone or plays with a significant lag. Other times, when you watch a video on an Android phone that was shot with an iPhone, you only hear the sound but don’t see any video as the media player screen is black.

If you’re facing any of the above problems, let me tell you why this happens and how to fix it.

Why can’t some Android phones play iPhone videos?

Out of the box, your iPhone captures photos and videos in HEIF/HEVC format. Now, all recent Android smartphones support this format. So, if an Android phone doesn’t play an iPhone video, it’s mostly due to the resolution of the video, frame rate (frames per second – fps), and the inability of the Android phone’s native Gallery or File Explorer app causing it to struggle with large video files.

How to know if an iPhone video is 4K or 1080p?

1) Open the iOS Photos app and go to that video.

2) Swipe up on the screen to see the file information:

If it’s a 4K video, you will see 4K – 2160 x 3840.

For 1080p video, you will see 1080p – 1080 x 1920.

And for 720p videos, it will say 720p – 720 x 1280.

3) Besides the resolution, you can also see the frame rate (60 fps, 30 fps, 24 fps, etc.), video file size, and codec (HEVC, H.264).

Make Android phones play videos taken on iPhone

1. Check if the full video file has transferred or not

Since Apple’s AirDrop and Android’s Nearby Share don’t work cross-platform, there is no native way to share video files between iPhone and Android. But you can use other easy methods to move the files, like Android File Transfer, OpenMTP, AirDroid, etc.

Once the video is sent to the Android phone, make sure the full file has been transferred. Sometimes, the video file may be partially transferred, resulting in a corrupt unplayable file.

The easiest way to check this is by seeing the video file details in the Files app, Gallery app, or the File Explorer app of your Android phone and noting the file size. Next, open the Photos app on your iPhone, go to that video, and swipe up to see the file size. If the size on the Android phone and iPhone are the same (ignore the difference if it’s less than ~0.5 MB), that means the full video has been transferred successfully. If not, transfer the file over again.

2. Use VLC player on Android

The iOS Photos app is your default, standard destination for viewing pictures and watching recorded videos on all iPhones. The same isn’t true for Android phones, as different manufacturers set their own gallery or file management apps as the default for photos & videos.

Now, if the iPhone video doesn’t play in the built-in media player or gallery app on your Android phone, get the evergreen VLC Media Player from the Google Play Store.

Once VLC is downloaded, launch it and allow it to access your media files. Now, open the iPhone video here, and in many cases, VLC should be able to play the unplayable video successfully. If not, please move to the remaining solutions.

3. Restart your Android phone

Turn off your Android phone and turn it back on after a minute. Once that’s done, see if it can play iPhone videos.

4. Convert the iPhone video before sending it to Android

Now, we come to the most effective solution that worked for me. It is slightly time-consuming, but I can almost guarantee it will work for you as well.

So, if the videos you took on your iPhone aren’t playing on an Android phone, convert them to a lower resolution, decrease their frame rate, or reduce the file size before transferring them. After that, they will likely play on the Android phone.

Use the Compress Videos & Resize Video app

iDB developed this simple app that is fantastic at compressing your videos, resizing them, changing the frame rate (fps), and reducing the video file size.

Follow these steps to make your iPhone videos playable on an Android phone:

Download the Compress Videos & Resize Video app for free on your iPhone or iPad.

Open the app and Select Videos to Compress. Now, choose the 4K 60 fps video file (or any other video of any resolution) that doesn’t play on the Android phone.

Use the Frame Rate slider to lower it to 30 or 24.

For the best video quality, you can keep the video dimensions to their original numbers. However, if it still doesn’t play, you can lower it.

Finally, tap Compress. The app will convert the video and automatically save it to your iPhone’s Photos app. Optionally, you may delete the original video file.

Now transfer the converted video to your Android phone, and it will play like a charm there.

Use an iOS shortcut

The Compress video app is the easiest way to convert iPhone videos and make them compatible with your Android phone. Besides the app, if you’re comfortable with iOS shortcuts, I have built a simple shortcut that will convert your 4K videos to 1080p and make them playable on Android. Here’s how to use it:

Add Convert Video To 1080p shortcut to your iPhone or iPad.

Tap the shortcut tile and pick a 4K video. The shortcut will convert it to 1080p and save it to the Photos app. (left image below)

You can also open the 4K video inside your iPhone Photos app, tap the share button and choose Convert Video To 1080p from the Share Sheet. The shortcut will work its magic and save the converted file (right image below).

Now, send this converted video to the Android phone to watch it there.

Finally, if you have a Mac, QuickTime can easily convert large 4K video files to 1080p. Check out this guide that shows you five ways to reduce video size on Mac and iOS.

Set your iPhone to record videos in a lower resolution

So, I hope by now you know why some videos taken on your iPhone cannot play on an Android phone.

If you frequently transfer videos from your iPhone to your or family members’ Android phones, I recommend setting your iPhone to record video at 1080p or 4K 24/30 fps. This will make them compatible with almost all Android phones by default, and you won’t have to go through the process of converting videos before they can be watched on Android. Here’s how to do that:

Open iPhone Settings and tap Camera.

Tap Record Video and choose 1080p HD at 60 or 30 fps.

How To Find Your Favorites On Tiktok (Videos, Sounds And Effects)

How to find Favorites on TikTok on iPhone and Android

Launch TikTok and tap the profile icon to go to your profile.

We shall take a look at another tab under Favorites. Tap Sounds to view all the audio clips you have added to favorites on the app. There are no collection folders under any other tabs, though; collections is an exclusive feature to organize your video favorites.

The purpose of the Favorites tabs is to give users easy access to review and use the items. For instance, you can replay any of the videos added to favorites anytime without the fear of them getting automatically reset after a certain period like the list of Liked videos (which is also accessible under the profile).

Another highlight is that Favorites are entirely private — no one else can view what you have hoarded in your collections; similarly, you can not view other users’ favorites. This acts as the necessary wall to give you a sense of privacy.

How to find favorites on TikTok on computer

Sadly, there is no Favorites tab or shortcut button for us to use on the TikTok web. Because it is deliberately excluded from web features to push users to resort to the app for a complete experience, it likely won’t appear at all on the web. Such a bummer for those of us who use our computers more than our mobile phones.

However, if you are the type of user who leaves a like on your favorites videos, then there might be a hack — for the lack of a better word –to view videos freshly liked and added to favorites. Here’s how you do it.

Go to TikTok web on your browser.

Log in to your profile with your credentials. Tap the profile icon on the top right corner to view the options.

Hit View profile to go to your profile.

How to find your favorite videos on TikTok app

To view the videos you have added to favorites, tap the profile icon to view your profile.

The independent collections appear in respective folders, for instance, there is a dedicated Cats folder under my Videos tab to add my favorite cat videos. Such folders are called collections; you may add new and as many collections as you want by hitting Create new collection.

Tap any folder to open it.

Tap the video you wish to watch and that’s it.

You can play and interact with the video just like any other video.

How to find your favorite sounds on TikTok app

There are two ways to view and access the sounds you have added to favorites on TikTok. One is from the Favorites tab on the profile page and the other is on the create page.

Method #1: Find favorite sounds under the Favorites tab on your profile

Launch TikTok and tap the profile icon to go to your profile.

Tap any sound from the list to select it. Hit Use this sound to start creating a new video with it.

There is no option to organize sounds into folders or collections on TikTok.

Method #2: Find your favorite sounds on the Create page on TikTok

Tap the Record button to go to the create page.

Hit Add sound at the top of the camera screen.

The sound appears thus in the marquee post-selection.

How to find your favorite effects on TikTok app

Method #1: Find favorite effects under the Favorites tab on your profile

Launch TikTok and tap the profile icon to go to your profile.

To select any effect, tap the tile.

Method #2: Find your favorites effects on the create page on TikTok

Tap the Record button to go to the create page.

Hit the box titled Effects on the left side of the red recording button.

There it is! All your favorites are thus are under your profile or just a few taps away in the create page, easy to review and use anytime!

How To Find Draft Posts On Facebook

Have you ever spent time creating a Facebook post, decided to wait before posting it, and then couldn’t find the draft you thought you saved? Locating drafts of your posts on Facebook isn’t straightforward, but we’re here to help.

We’ll explain how Facebook drafts work, where to find them, and how to post a saved draft when you’re ready.

Table of Contents

About Facebook Drafts

There is a difference between drafts you save for a Facebook business page and for your personal Facebook profile.

As of this writing, you can only locate all saved drafts for a Facebook page. Once you do, you can edit, publish, or delete a draft. We’ll explain how to do this below.

For your personal Facebook profile, you likely see an option to save a post as a draft if you don’t publish it immediately. However, there is no central location holding onto those drafts like there is for a Facebook page.

With all of this in mind, let’s start with how to find drafts on Facebook for your personal profile.

Find Facebook Drafts for Your Personal Profile

When you create a post and close it before publishing it, you should see an option to save the draft as shown below.

To return to that draft, simply reopen Facebook and select the What’s On Your Mind box in your News Feed where you normally begin composing the post. You will see that “draft” you saved in the box waiting to be shared. To publish it, tap Post.

This works the same way whether you use Facebook on the web or the mobile app, but there are a few caveats with this draft process.

If you save a Facebook draft on one device, it does not sync with the app on your other devices or the web. Below, you can see a saved draft on the web and a different one saved in the Facebook app on iPhone.

The draft you save will only remain until you create a new post. This means if you see the draft and edit or restart it, the original draft you saved is gone for good.

As mentioned earlier, there is no central spot for personal Facebook drafts. If you want to save a draft but publish a different post in the meantime, this isn’t currently possible.

Find Facebook Drafts for a Page on the Web

Drafts that you save for a Facebook page you manage work quite differently. You do have a central location with all of your drafts, no matter how many you have. You can then publish, edit, or remove drafts you’ve saved.

Note: This does not include group pages, only Facebook business pages.

To locate your drafts, head to your Facebook page.

From the main Facebook screen, select

Pages

on the left.

Choose the page if you have more than one.

You’ll then be directed to the Meta Business Suite and should see your page front and center. On the left, expand the Meta Business Suite section and pick

Publishing tools

.

At the top of the subsequent screen, choose

Drafts

. You’ll then see a list of all drafts you’ve saved.

Alternatively, you can go directly to the Meta Business Suite site.

Select your page on the top left if you have more than one.

You may see a section on your page for

Reminders

with a list of your currently saved

Draft posts

. You can select a draft here to work on it. If you don’t see this section, continue with the next step.

Select

Posts & Stories

on the left.

Pick the

Drafts

tab at the top of the next page. You’ll then see your list of saved drafts.

Review and Edit a Draft

To review and make changes to a draft, select it to open it. Make your edits in the text box in the left column. You can view a preview of the post all the way to the right.

When you finish, do one of the following:

Select

Save

to hold onto the changes you make to the draft.

Use the

arrow

next to the Save button and pick

Publish now

or

Schedule post

.

Select

Cancel

to discard your changes.

Publish, Schedule, or Delete a Draft

If you want to quickly publish, schedule, or delete a draft without reviewing it, hover your cursor over the draft in the list and select the three dots. Then, pick one of the options.

Create a New Draft

You can also create a new post and save it as a draft from this spot on the web. Select Create post in the top right corner.

Compose your post on the left side and include a photo or video if you wish. When you finish, select Save as Draft and then pick Save.

Find Facebook Drafts for a Page in the Mobile App

If you prefer to manage your Facebook page drafts on your mobile device, this is doable in the Meta Business Suite app.

Open the app and select the Posts tab. On the top left, tap the Published drop-down box and pick Drafts. You’ll then see a list of all post drafts you’ve saved.

To review and edit a draft, select it. Make your changes and tap Next. You can then pick from Publish now, Schedule for later, or Save as draft. Tap Save.

To quickly publish, schedule, or delete a draft, tap the three dots on the right and pick an option.

To create and save a new draft, tap the plus sign at the bottom and pick Post or select Create at the top. Compose your post and include any other items as you like. Select Save as draft and then tap Save as Draft at the top.

If you don’t have the Meta Business Suite app you can download it for free on Android and iOS to manage your Facebook page as well as schedule posts on your connected Instagram account.

Will You Use Your Facebook Drafts?

While it would be nice for Facebook to save several draft posts for personal accounts, you can at least see, edit, and share your last saved one. For Facebook pages, you can create many drafts and publish or schedule them as you please.
