Is your iPhone, iPad, or Mac constantly connecting to a known Wi-Fi network that you don’t want it to connect to? Sure, you can easily forget that network and put an end to this. But what if you wish your device to remember the Wi-Fi network (so you don’t have to enter its password again) but just doesn’t automatically connect to it?
In this tutorial, we will learn how to set your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac to prefer one Wi-Fi network (the faster, better one) over another (the slower one).Multiple known Wi-Fi networks (or 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz wireless bands)
Recently, I got a new internet connection and a dual-band router that offers both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. As a result, when I go to my iPhone or Mac’s Wi-Fi settings, I see two Wi-Fi networks – Ankur T (2.4 GHz) and Ankur T_5G (5 GHz).
2.4 GHz Wi-Fi uses longer waves which offers an extended range and better transmission. Thus it will efficiently work even if there are multiple walls and obstructions between the device and the router. However, this band offers slower speeds. Plus, almost all Wi-Fi devices, like smart accessories, appliances, garage doors, etc., support this band, due to which it’s congested and can drop connections.
5 GHz Wi-Fi uses shorter waves that have difficulty transmitting through walls, etc., and offers a smaller range. But, as far as speeds go, it’s far superior to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Plus, not all devices support the 5 GHz band, so it’s less congested and doesn’t drop connections.
In my home, the download and upload speeds offered by the 5 GHz Wi-Fi are at least two times faster than the 2.4 GHz one (image below). Plus, since it’s a small apartment, I don’t have to worry about range and thus want my iPhone and Mac to always connect only to the 5 GHz band and ignore the other.
Earlier, whenever I would come home from outside, the router restarted due to a power outage, or I restarted my devices, they would prefer the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and automatically connect to it. The experience was kind of annoying to manually switch to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi every time.

Similarly, in my previous office, there were five Wi-Fi networks. My Mac would always auto-join the slowest one, and I would have to manually connect to the better network every morning. Small inconvenience, but no one likes doing this daily!
Thankfully, the steps below solved this issue forever!Auto-join a better Wi-Fi network over another iPhone and iPad
Follow these steps to set your iPhone to prefer a better Wi-Fi network and automatically connect to it rather than connecting to a slower network:
1) Open Settings and tap Wi-Fi.
2) Tap the info button (i) next to the slower Wi-Fi network.
3) Turn off Auto-Join.
4) Go back to the previous screen and choose the info button next to the faster Wi-Fi network.
5) Make sure Auto-Join is enabled for this.
From now on, when you enter this area with both known Wi-Fi networks, your iPhone will always automatically join the better Wi-Fi. Goodbye, slow speeds and connection drops!
Anytime that better Wi-Fi is unavailable, you can simply tap the other Wi-Fi network name in Wi-Fi Settings or the Control Center (after pressing the Wi-Fi icon) to join it. You don’t have to type the Wi-Fi password.Apple Watch
Apple Watch Series 6, Series 7, and later can connect to both 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks. However, Apple Watch Series 5 and earlier, and Apple Watch SE can only connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
This is how you can set your Apple Watch to prefer joining one Wi-Fi network over another:
1) Press the Digital Crown and tap Settings.
2) Select Wi-Fi.
3) Choose a Wi-Fi name you don’t want your watch to join automatically and turn off Auto-Join from the next screen.
4) Now, go back and tap the preferred Wi-Fi name and ensure its Auto-Join switch is enabled.
From now on, your Apple Watch will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network you choose in step 4 and ignore joining the other poorer Wi-Fi.Mac
Here’s how to set your Mac to prefer and auto-connect to a faster Wi-Fi network than another slower option:
3) Uncheck the Auto-Join box next to the inferior Wi-Fi network.
4) Make sure the Auto-Join box next to the superior Wi-Fi network is checked.
Tip: On this screen, you can drag the Wi-Fi network you want to give the highest priority to the top of the list. After this, your Mac will give preference to the Wi-Fi network that’s on the top of the list and try to join that. In case it can’t join that network, it will move on to prefer the second available Wi-Fi network and so on.
That’s it. From now on, when you enter this area with both known Wi-Fi networks or power on your Mac, your computer will automatically join the better network. No more hassle of manually connecting to a faster network every time!Wi-Fi auto-join preferences
This is how you can set your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac to prefer one network over the other.
Besides speed, there are other instances where you might have to prefer a network over other. For example, you can control your smart bulb from your iPhone when both are on the same Wi-Fi network. If you have multiple Wi-Fi networks, you can use the above steps to ensure your iPhone always connects to the network that your smart appliances are connected to.
In this tutorial, I demonstrated using two Wi-Fi networks. But if your house, school, dorm, office, coffee place, or another frequently visited area has several networks, follow the same steps to prefer one over the rest. Just keep auto-join enabled for the best, fastest Wi-Fi, and turn off auto-join for the rest.
I should remind you once again that turning off auto-join for a known Wi-Fi doesn’t remove its Wi-Fi password. Your device still remembers the network, and you can manually connect to it in the future without entering the password.

When it comes to connecting your iPhone or iPad to a TV, you can choose to go with an adapter + HDMI cable or wirelessly (called mirroring) with an Apple TV. The most convenient option is connecting wirelessly, but this can be more expensive if you don’t already own an Apple TV (depending on the model). Connecting wirelessly (or mirroring) to your TV with iPhone or iPad is possible via Apple software called AirPlay when you have an Apple TV.
If you don’t already own an Apple TV, the current 4th generation model goes for $150. However, you can pick up a refurbished model for $125 or sometimes you can find the previous generation Apple TV for $60 (which works with AirPlay). You’ll also need an HDMI cable, Amazon’s $6 option is tough to beat. The following images show an iPhone, however the same steps apply for iPad.
Make sure your Apple TV and iPhone or iPad are on the same wireless network
Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to pull up Control Center
Tap AirPlay Mirroring
Tap Apple TV
Whatever you pull up on your iPhone or iPad will be mirrored to your TV. Use your device in landscape mode if possible to fill up your TV screen.
You’ll notice the status bar turn blue at the top of your iPhone or iPad with the AirPlay symbol (rectangle with triangle) on the right side when you are connected to your TV.

If you’d prefer to connect your device with a wired setup, you’ll need an adapter and an HDMI cable. First, to connect to your iPhone or iPad you’ll need Apple’s Lightning Digital AV Adapter for about $50 (this connects to the Lightning port and provides a female HDMI port). You can buy third-party options for this for about $20, but they aren’t fully functional for mirroring everything, so unless it meets your specific needs better, Apple’s official adapter is usually best.
Note: If you have an older iPhone or iPad with a 30-pin connector (iPhone 4s and earlier, iPad 3rd gen and earlier) you’ll need this adapter instead.
If you go for Apple’s adapter, an HDMI cable is not included, so you’ll be closer to $60 by the time you throw in an affordable cable.

Connect an HDMI cable to the adapter and plug the other end in your TV
If the connection doesn’t seem to be working, check your TV input (match it to what physical input you are using)
Unless using an adapter and HDMI cable fits your needs especially well, looking for a used or 3rd generation Apple TV is a good way to get the convenience of wireless AirPlay mirroring at about the same cost of investing in a wired setup.

You can do much more with the Apple Notes app than many people think. Of course, it is a terrific note-taking tool, but you can also create lists and outlines using styles and headings. To help you take your next note to a new level, here’s how to change the font style in Notes on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
How to change font style in Notes on iPhone and iPad
You can style your font with titles, headings, and lists, as well as format it with options like bold and italic in Notes on iPhone and iPad. Additionally, you can use the Quick Styles gesture to make fast changes.
Format titles, headings, subheadings, and body text
Launch the Notes app on your iPhone → open an existing note (or create a new one).
Select the text you want to adjust or make sure that your cursor is on the same line.
Tap the Paragraph Styles (Aa) button in the toolbar at the bottom, which is above your keyboard.
Choose from Title, Heading, or Subheading. You’ll see this style only for the text on that line. When you press Return, you’ll go back to the default Body text.
For the body text, you can select Body or Monospaced. Also, like on macOS, this style then remains as you continue to type your note and press Return.
To apply bold, italic, underline, or strikethrough, make sure to select the text first, then pick one of these options in the Format window.
To change existing text, select it. Otherwise, you can simply start a new list and add your items as you go.
Tap the Paragraph Styles button in the toolbar → Select the Bulleted, Dashed, or Numbered list button on the bottom left of the Format window.
Use the X to close the Format window and type your list items by tapping Return after each one.
Change the font format with Quick Styles
One lesser-known way to change font formats in Notes on your mobile device is using Quick Styles. You’ll receive the same options like titles, headings, body text, and lists, but you can apply them quicker.
Select the text you want to change.
Then long-press (tap and hold) the Paragraph Styles (Aa) icon in the toolbar.
You’ll immediately see that style applied to your text.
Change the default font style for new notes
While you cannot change the default font size for new notes on iPhone and iPad, you can pick a different Paragraph Style, like on Mac.
Open the Settings app → Choose Notes.
Move to the Viewing section and select New Notes Start With.
Pick Title, Heading, Subheading, or Body.
Because you have more options for font formatting in Notes on macOS than you do on iOS and iPadOS, let’s get into it.
How to change the font style in Notes on Mac
From titles and headings to body text to lists, you can make several changes to the font in Notes on Mac. Plus, you have a few extras that can help you format text exactly as you please.
Format titles, headings, and subheadings
You can format existing text or set up the style before you type your text, whichever works best for you.
If you already have the text, select it by dragging your cursor through it.
After you apply one of these formats and press Return, you’ll go back to the default Body font unless you manually change it.
Format body text and lists
You can pick Body or Monospaced for the font style in the main part of your note. Unlike titles, headings, and subheadings, your note continues to use this format as you press Return throughout your note unless you change it.
You can also format your note with a Bulleted, Dashed, or Numbered list by picking one of those styles. The default font for lists is the Body style.
When you choose a list style, enter the list item, and press Return, you’ll see another dot, dash, or number ready for your next item.
To end a list and stop the list formatting, press Return twice.
Apply bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough
Along with the above styles, you can make your text pop by applying bold, italic, underline, or strikethrough.
Select the text and do one of the following to format it:
Change the default style and font size for new notes
The default system fonts for the Apple platform are San Francisco (SF) and New York (NY). And while you may find these fonts easy to read, which is Apple’s intent, you may simply prefer something else.
As of this writing, you can’t change the default font style in Apple Notes. However, you can change the default size as well as the Paragraph Style for starting new notes.
Open the Notes app on your Mac.
Select Notes → Settings in the menu bar.
Use the Default text size slider near the bottom to adjust the font size.
With every new note you create moving forward, you’ll see your selected paragraph style and font size by default. If you want to change that style, just use the steps above.
Change the font style and color in a single note
While you cannot change the default font style and color, you can pick a different one for text in individual notes. This lets you use a particular style or color for an entire note or just certain text.
Select the text you want to format differently. For all text in a note, use the keyboard shortcut Command (⌘)+ A.

If, however, you don’t have easy access to a cable provider login, you’re not completely out of luck. Many of the streaming TV platforms, including DirecTV Now, Sling, and others, offer free trials that give you access to the World Series.
Sling TV, for instance, is touting itself as the “best way to catch all the Fall Classic action.” You’ll need the company’s Sling Blue package, which offers a 7-day free trial and access to FOX. Sign up for a Sling TV’s free 7-day trial here. Just remember to cancel if you don’t wish to be charged. The plan will renew at $25 per month after the trial.
