By default, Facebook allows visitors to your profile to view your entire list of friends, but you can easily hide your Facebook Friends list from them. While Facebook wants to help people find mutual acquaintances, especially those who recently signed up to Facebook, you may prefer to keep your Friends list private. This tutorial shows you how to hide your Facebook Friends list from your online buddies and others.

How to Hide Your Facebook Friends List on PC

You can change your Facebook privacy settings for your friends list via the desktop or mobile app. Follow the instructions below if using Facebook in your browser on a computer.

Via Settings

Head over to Facebook and log in to your account.

Select “Privacy” from the menu on the left.

Use the “Who can see your friends list?” drop-down to specify who has access to this information.

Choose from the following options:

Public – everyone has access to your Friends list.

Friends – your list will be accessible to your Friends only. It cannot be accessed by other Facebook users.

Friends except – do you want to share your Facebook Friends list with everyone except a select few users? In this scenario, it may be easier to specify who shouldn’t have access to your Friends list.

Specific friends – if you only want to share your list with certain people, select “Specific friends” and enter the names of the lucky few.

Only me – This hides your Friends list from everyone – even those on your Friends list!

Custom – if you have very specific requirements, this is the most flexible option. You can use “Custom” to enter the names of anyone who should and shouldn’t have access to your Friends list. You can also use “Custom” to restrict or grant access to entire groups, including “Friends of Friends.”

If you don’t want to go through Settings, there’s an alternative path via your Facebook profile that allows you how to hide your Friends list.

Go to your Facebook profile.

Select “Edit Privacy.”

A pop-up window will appear, showing you your current privacy settings. Hit the button next to “Friends List.”

This will bring up the list of options that we discussed above. Select the desired option.

If Facebook is installed on your phone, you may prefer to modify these privacy settings via the iOS or Android mobile application.

Unlike on PC, you can only fiddle with these options via Settings and not directly from your profile.

Launch the Facebook mobile app on your mobile.

Tap on your profile picture in the upper-right corner if you’re on Android. On iOS, you’ll need to look in the lower right-corner for the profile picture.

Tap on “Profile settings” next to your profile picture at the top.

On the next screen, select “Privacy.”

Scroll down until you find the “How people find and contact you” section and tap on “Who can see your friend list” to modify the audience.

To bring up all of the list options, tap “See all” at the bottom, then select your desired option.

If you want to ensure the settings changes went into effect, follow the steps below.

On PC, go back to “Settings” as shown above.

Go to “Privacy” in the menu on the left.

Select “Profile and tagging” from the options that appear.

If you set your Friends list audience to “Only Me” or “Friends” (or any of the other privacy options mentioned), your list shouldn’t be visible in Public view (as you can see in the example below.)

Select “Profile & tagging” from the Privacy section.

Tap on “Review what other people see on your profile” at the bottom to check what visitors on your profile will be able to see. Your Friends list should be missing from your profile.

To ensure no one can see who your friends are on Facebook, we recommend opting for “Only me” when it comes to setting your Friends list audience. You may have noticed that when visiting a friend’s profile, sometimes you can see a “Mutual friends” list. Depending on their respective privacy settings, this option may not be available. If both parties have “Only me” enabled when it comes to Friends list audience, you won’t see anything when you visit their profile and vice versa.

Keep in mind that people may be able to see you’re friends with someone if the other person hasn’t set their Friends list to private. If they left it on “Public,” for example, you would show up in their Friends list.

How To Hide Facebook Photos From Friends Or Public

Do you have a lot of old Facebook photos?

If you do, you might be looking to hide them from your friends or the public.

However, hiding all of your Facebook photos or hiding them in bulk is difficult.

The typical way of doing it is by hiding them one by one.

You can do this by changing the privacy of your individual photos to “Only me”.

This means that your Facebook photos can only be seen by yourself.

However, if you have a lot of photos, the process will take forever.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to hide Facebook photos, how to hide all photos or photos that you’re tagged in.

Here’s how to hide Facebook photos from your friends or the public:

Open the Facebook app and go to your profile.

Navigate to the photo that you want to hide.

Tap on the three dots on top of the photo.

Tap on “Edit Privacy”.

Select “Only me”.

Tap on “Done”.

After you’ve edited the photo’s privacy to “Only me”, only you can see it.

Your friends or the public will not be able to see the photo.

Keep in mind that this method only works well if you’re only looking to hide a few photos.

If you’re looking to hide a lot of photos, this method is not effective.

This is because you need to edit the privacy of each photo to “Only me”.

If you have hundreds of photos, this method will take forever.

If you want to hide a lot of photos, you can refer to the second section instead.

Open the Facebook app and go to your profile.

Scroll down your profile and tap on “Photos”.

Select the “Albums” tab.

Select the album that you want to hide.

Tap on the three dots.

Tap on “Edit album”.

Select “Friends” (or the privacy setting that you’re currently using).

Select “Only me”.

Tap on “Done”.

By hiding an album, all of the photos inside it will be hidden as well.

This means that if you have a lot of photos in the same album on your Facebook profile, all of them will be hidden.

Only you can see the photos—your friends and the public will not be able to see them.

That said, hiding an album is the best way to hide all of your Facebook photos.

If you set the privacy setting to “Only me” for all of your albums, the majority of photos on your Facebook profile will be hidden.

To hide the rest of the photos on your profile, you can refer to the third section.

Open the Facebook app and tap on the “Menu” icon on the bottom navigation bar.

Scroll down and tap on “Settings & Privacy”.

Select “Settings”.

Select “Profile and tagging”.

Tap on “Who can see posts that you’re tagged in on your profile” under “Tagging”.

Select “Only me”.

After you’ve selected “Only me”, only you will be able to see the posts that you’re tagged in on your profile.

Normally, if someone tags you in a post, the post will be shown on your profile.

By default, your friends will be able to see it.

However, you can change the privacy setting of who will be able to see the posts that you’re tagged in to “Only me”.

This will hide all of the posts that you’re tagged in on your profile from your friends and the public.

Combining this with hiding your albums and individual posts, your Facebook profile will be more or less private.

Hiding Facebook posts is a great way to prevent stalkers.

That said, the best way to prevent stalkers is to set all of your privacy settings to “Only me”.

This includes the settings from “Your Activity” and “How People Find and Contact You”.

That way, the public won’t be able to see most of your profile.

Unfortunately, unlike Instagram, there is no single option to set your Facebook account to private.

Live from BU, It’s Pals & Friends Sketch comedy show latest on BUTV10’s lineup

The past few years have been something of a golden age for television sketch comedy. The long-running NBC juggernaut Saturday Night Live aside, smaller sketch-based shows like Key & Peele, Whitest Kids U’ Know, Inside Amy Schumer, and Portlandia have all found audiences drawn to the genre.

Now, BUTV10 is following suit with its newest comedy series, Pals & Friends. While the station has long produced comedy shows, including sitcoms Welcome Back Brotter and Co-Ed: The Next Generation and the morning news show parody The Morning After, Pals & Friends is unique in that it is BUTV10’s only sketch comedy show. Produced, written, edited, and performed entirely by students, it debuted late last month. Episode two airs tonight at 8 p.m.

Dale Mason (COM’15), Annie Melden (COM’16), and Jillian Richardson (COM’15) began developing the show in February 2014. Since then, nearly 50 people have been involved, either as cast members, crew members, writers, or a combination of the three. Many of the show’s writers and cast members are comedy veterans, having worked previously with various comedy groups on campus, including the Callbacks, Liquid Fun, Sons of Liberty, and Slow Children at Play.

Pals & Friends’ executive producer Mason says that collaboration among comedians of such different backgrounds helps to produce energetic and entertaining sketches that appeal to fans of all comedic genres. “Each cast member brings their own set of skills to the table, and that makes it a really fun and interesting acting experience,” he says. “I think that comedy in general is a family. These groups on campus aren’t fighting each other for who is best; they all want to learn and have a good time. Comedy is about making that community, being friendly, and helping each other achieve goals.”

In fact, the name of the show was inspired by the bonds that developed among the staff. “We started with a lot of friends who were interested in working on or being on the show,” Mason says. “The people we brought into the production quickly became family and now pals and friends truly defines the group we work with.”

The first season of Pals & Friends is almost entirely dedicated to parodying television. The pilot features a mock newscast, complete with two incompetent, bickering anchors, a recently jilted man-on-the-street reporter interviewing couples about their relationships, and an investigative reporter exploring the consequences of holding up the line at a local fast food restaurant.

Tonight’s episode is a send-up of PBS, with parodies of familiar public television series like Zoom, Zaboomafoo, and The Joy of Painting. The third episode, slated to air next Monday, April 27, spoofs reality television and contains a sketch titled “America’s Next Top Hand Model” and a parody of the popular History Channel series Pawn Stars, which was shot on location in Market Square Exchange and Emporium, an actual pawnshop in Lynn, Mass.

Producer, writer, and cast member Jack Wall (COM’15) says that while it’s expected that the show’s focus will expand next year, this season’s emphasis on television adds something new to the well-saturated sketch comedy genre. “I personally have never seen a sketch show dedicated to parodying the medium that it’s presented on,” he says. “I think taking the angle of making fun of television is, in a way, our niche.”

Each 10-minute episode can take nearly two months to produce, says Mason, because of the difficulty in coordinating the schedules of such a large group. Despite the long hours, working on Pals & Friends has been an invaluable professional experience for the writers, cast, and crew. “One of the things that I love most about BU is that the school lets you work on a television show with sets and equipment that are on par with those professionals would use,” Richardson says. “Writing a high-quality sketch that’s put on film and is part of an established TV show is pretty much every college comedian’s dream. We all get credits that we can put on our resume, and clips that we can put in reels. Essentially, we get to say, look, I made something, and it looks nice. And it was shown on TV!”

When it comes to the group’s audience, Wall says he hopes the show makes BU students laugh and momentarily forget the daily stresses of college life. “I’ve always thought comedy is a way of taking a break from how dramatic and heavy and unnecessarily dark life can sometimes seem as a college student,” he says. “I just hope that it’s a nice break for some people.”

Let’s explore how to do this using a trick in the Android OS as well as an app that can help.

First of all, to do this trick, we need a file explorer app. Your favorite app should do the job, but before we get started, prod around the settings of the app and double-check if you have an option to “show hidden files” or “show system files.”

To prevent users from accidentally deleting or renaming these files, Android uses a special feature where any file beginning with a period is hidden from view. Then, every system-important folder has a period appended to the start to hide it from the user.

When you rename a file or folder this way, this triggers the hiding feature used for system files. As such, Android believes it’s something that should be hidden, so it hides the file away.

If you want, you can go even further and use a third-party app to hide your photos and videos. Hide Something allows you to select the media files that you want to hide, then stash them away in a hidden section. You can still see the items via the app, but they’re hidden from the file system. Set a password for the app, and you’re good to go!

If you think someone will get suspicious of the app sitting around, you can get the premium version to hide it. The premium version disguises Hide Something so it looks like an innocent calculator app, which unlocks the real thing if you enter a passcode.

Indian software developers are compared to those in the US, UK, Germany, and the rest of the world.

Historically, Indian coders have made a small fraction of what their peers in wealthy nations have made. Much is written about how the developers in such nations fear—or do not fear—losing out on lucrative employment opportunities to low-cost outsourcing to nations like India. India had the second-highest number of respondents in the 2023 Stack Overflow poll, which included a question on respondents’ salaries. Compared to other countries and the globe as a whole, India has a higher proportion of students majoring in computer science. 93% of Indian respondents are between the ages of 18 and 34, compared to 73% globally and much lower in the other top three responding nations. According to a calculation, more than 78% of developers in India have been coding professionally for 0–5 years, compared to 48% in the US, 46% in the UK, 55% in Germany, and 57% in the entire world. Only 40% of developers in India would hold higher management accountable for unethical code, compared to nearly 60% of developers in all the other groups. Compared to developers in the other groups, a significantly higher percentage of Indian developers would hold the developer who came up with the idea for the unethical code or authored it accountable. Most Indian programmers are willing to produce code that they deem to be unethical. Only 63% of the respondents from India agreed that they should take into account the ethical implications of the codes they write.
