Suggested January 2024 How To Hide A Players Pings In Apex Legends (Hide/Mute Teammate/Player Pings)
If you have recently made the switch to Apex Legends from another Battle Royale title like Fortnite, PUBG or Black Ops 4, you’ve probably encountered players who continually spam the Ping feature. If so, follow along as this article shows you how to stop Ping abuse or spamming in Apex Legends.
How to Merge Two Fortnite Accounts. (Xbox, PS4, and Nintendo Switch)
Apex Legends has officially been out for a week and has become the next viral video game sensation in the ever popular battle royale category. Its player count has already skyrocketed to more than 30 million and it’s easy to see why as Apex Legends is fast-paced, fairly well optimized, and most importantly, free. Of course, there are still plenty of things to work on, including frame rates, and weapon balancing but overall Apex’s gameplay has been quite smooth and super fun.
Obviously with a massive influx of players hitting Apex Legends servers so fast, one would expect a lot of connection chaos and downtime. However, that hasn’t happened… Yet! As the player count continues to climb at an astonishing rate, things may change, though server upgrades are already underway, with more inevitably coming.
Of all the minor issues in Apex Legends so far, one of the most annoying is player abuse and spamming of the in-game Ping system, which allows you to instantly notify your team of significant events, enemies, places, plans, and items. So if you are sick and tired of a teammate spamming Ping endlessly, this guide will show you how to mute them and hide their Pings.

How Do You Hide or Mute Player and Teammate Pings in Apex Legends? (PC, Xbox, PS4)Although the ability to mute player voice chat, text chat, and pings is a standard feature in Apex Legends, it is one that people are having a lot of trouble finding. Thankfully this process is the same across all gaming systems PC, Xbox, and PlayStation and is easy to use, so you won’t have to worry about learning something different for each platform you decide to play on.
To begin, launch Apex Legends as you normally would, then follow the steps you normally do until you get into a game. Once you are in-game (not the lobby), you’ll be able to mute any players Pings. To do this open your inventory (Tab Key or I on PC).
Then change to the Squad tab at the top of the interface.
Another Suggestion While You Have Apex Legends Open.Make sure you check out the following Apex Legends article which will show you how to disable the games default setting that shares usage data and system information with EA. Although this information is very helpful for optimizing the game early on, it is something you are probably going to want to disable as soon as possible.

5 Ways To Hide Desktop Icons In Ubuntu
If hiding the top bar and side panel isn’t enough, and you want everything removed from your Ubuntu desktop, then you’d probably also like to get rid of those pesky icons on its surface. Read on to learn how you can hide desktop icons in Ubuntu.
1. The Extensions Prefs AppThe latest versions of Ubuntu include, by default, an “Extensions” app, allowing you to modify and expand how your desktop works. You can find it among your existing apps.
If it is not installed for some reason, open the terminal and type:
sudo
apt
install
gnome-shell-extension-prefsRun the app after it’s installed.
From this window, you can use the pull-down menu on the top to define the size of your desktop icons and enable or disable the display of the Home folder and Trash icon through two respective switches.
2. Via the TerminalIf you’d rather not use the GUI, it’s easy enough to hide your desktop icons using the terminal. You can hide just the Home and/or Trash icons or hide all desktop icons.
Tip: if you’re having any trouble opening the terminal in Ubuntu, try these troubleshooting steps.
Open a terminal instance and enter the following commands one at a time to hide Trash or Home:
gsettingsset
org.gnome.shell.extensions.desktop-icons show-trashfalse
gsettingsset
org.gnome.shell.extensions.desktop-icons show-homefalse
3. Using ExtensionsEither method works equally well, but if you have any problems hiding desktop icons with the Extensions Pref method, use this method instead.
Open Terminal and run:
sudo
apt
install
dconf-editorYou may need to enter your password to continue. Once installed, open Extensions and turn off “Desktop Icons NG.”
You can also open Terminal and enter:
4. Using Gnome Tweak ToolThis is an incredibly helpful tool for tweaking Ubuntu, so it’s worth installing even if you don’t care about the desktop icons. You can install Gnome Tweak Tool by entering the following in Terminal:
sudo
apt
install
gnome-tweaksYou may also be able to find it in the Software Center by searching for “tweaks.”
Tip: Here’s how to fix your Ubuntu Software Center in case it’s not working.
Once opened, go to the Desktop section and change the settings as desired.
5. Disable Display of Personal FolderIf you have Ubuntu 22.04, you can use Settings to toggle the Personal (or Home) folder to “off.” This won’t hide any other desktop icons, but if that’s all you want to hide, this works well.
Open Settings.
Select “Appearance.”
Toggle “Show Personal folder” to off.
Frequently Asked Questions Why can’t I find Gnome Tweak Tool in the Software Center? You may not have the right repository installed. If it’s not listed in the Software Center, and you get an error when trying to install from the terminal, try the following:
sudo add-apt-repository universe
sudo add-apt-repository multiverse
sudo apt update
This gives Ubuntu access to more repositories so that it can install more software packages.
Can I just hide mounted drives?Yes. If you’d prefer to keep other desktop icons, enter the following in terminal to hide mounted drives:
gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock show-mounts false
What else can the Gnome Tweak Tool (Tweaks) do?Since there are other methods to hiding desktop icons in Ubuntu, you may wonder whether it’s worth installing Gnome Tweak Tool. In addition to changing your desktop, you can customize the entire appearance of Ubuntu, manage extensions, control keyboard and mouse settings, speed up the desktop, change fonts, adjust power settings, configure application windows, and more. This is all from an easy-to-use GUI.
Can a script hide the desktop icons in Ubuntu?Sort of. Instead of removing them from the desktop, you can use a script to put everything into a hidden folder. Something like the following should work:

How To Hide Facebook Photos From Friends Or Public
Do you have a lot of old Facebook photos?
If you do, you might be looking to hide them from your friends or the public.
However, hiding all of your Facebook photos or hiding them in bulk is difficult.
The typical way of doing it is by hiding them one by one.
You can do this by changing the privacy of your individual photos to “Only me”.
This means that your Facebook photos can only be seen by yourself.
However, if you have a lot of photos, the process will take forever.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to hide Facebook photos, how to hide all photos or photos that you’re tagged in.
How to hide Facebook photosHere’s how to hide Facebook photos from your friends or the public:
Open the Facebook app and go to your profile.
Navigate to the photo that you want to hide.
Tap on the three dots on top of the photo.
Tap on “Edit Privacy”.
Select “Only me”.
Tap on “Done”.
After you’ve edited the photo’s privacy to “Only me”, only you can see it.
Your friends or the public will not be able to see the photo.
Keep in mind that this method only works well if you’re only looking to hide a few photos.
If you’re looking to hide a lot of photos, this method is not effective.
This is because you need to edit the privacy of each photo to “Only me”.
If you have hundreds of photos, this method will take forever.
If you want to hide a lot of photos, you can refer to the second section instead.

Via Settings
Head over to Facebook and log in to your account.
Select “Privacy” from the menu on the left.
Use the “Who can see your friends list?” drop-down to specify who has access to this information.
Choose from the following options:
Public – everyone has access to your Friends list.
Friends – your list will be accessible to your Friends only. It cannot be accessed by other Facebook users.
Friends except – do you want to share your Facebook Friends list with everyone except a select few users? In this scenario, it may be easier to specify who shouldn’t have access to your Friends list.
Specific friends – if you only want to share your list with certain people, select “Specific friends” and enter the names of the lucky few.
Only me – This hides your Friends list from everyone – even those on your Friends list!
Custom – if you have very specific requirements, this is the most flexible option. You can use “Custom” to enter the names of anyone who should and shouldn’t have access to your Friends list. You can also use “Custom” to restrict or grant access to entire groups, including “Friends of Friends.”

Good to know: Stories is now a part of Facebook. We show you how to create and customize your first one.
How to Hide Your Facebook Friends List on MobileIf Facebook is installed on your phone, you may prefer to modify these privacy settings via the iOS or Android mobile application.
Unlike on PC, you can only fiddle with these options via Settings and not directly from your profile.
Launch the Facebook mobile app on your mobile.
Tap on your profile picture in the upper-right corner if you’re on Android. On iOS, you’ll need to look in the lower right-corner for the profile picture.
Tap on “Profile settings” next to your profile picture at the top.
On the next screen, select “Privacy.”
Scroll down until you find the “How people find and contact you” section and tap on “Who can see your friend list” to modify the audience.
To bring up all of the list options, tap “See all” at the bottom, then select your desired option.
How to Verify that Your Friends List Is HiddenIf you want to ensure the settings changes went into effect, follow the steps below.
On PC, go back to “Settings” as shown above.
Go to “Privacy” in the menu on the left.
Select “Profile and tagging” from the options that appear.
If you set your Friends list audience to “Only Me” or “Friends” (or any of the other privacy options mentioned), your list shouldn’t be visible in Public view (as you can see in the example below.)
Select “Profile & tagging” from the Privacy section.
Tap on “Review what other people see on your profile” at the bottom to check what visitors on your profile will be able to see. Your Friends list should be missing from your profile.
Wondering if your friend has removed you from their social media circle? Here’s how to find out who unfriended or blocked you on Facebook.
Frequently Asked Questions Is there any way that people can still see who my Facebook friends are?To ensure no one can see who your friends are on Facebook, we recommend opting for “Only me” when it comes to setting your Friends list audience. You may have noticed that when visiting a friend’s profile, sometimes you can see a “Mutual friends” list. Depending on their respective privacy settings, this option may not be available. If both parties have “Only me” enabled when it comes to Friends list audience, you won’t see anything when you visit their profile and vice versa.
Keep in mind that people may be able to see you’re friends with someone if the other person hasn’t set their Friends list to private. If they left it on “Public,” for example, you would show up in their Friends list.

How To Hide Files And Folders On Your Android Device
Let’s explore how to do this using a trick in the Android OS as well as an app that can help.
How to Hide a File or Folder in AndroidFirst of all, to do this trick, we need a file explorer app. Your favorite app should do the job, but before we get started, prod around the settings of the app and double-check if you have an option to “show hidden files” or “show system files.”
While not essential, it makes it easier to modify and access these hidden files and folders. For the sake of this tutorial, we’ll be using FileExplorer. Not only can it show hidden files, but it’s generally a good tool all around!
Once you finalize the naming, the file or folder may suddenly vanish. Don’t worry, it’s still around – you just hid it! If you want to see it again, go into the file explorer’s settings and enable the option to make hidden/system files visible again.
Why Does this Work? The reason things vanish when you add a period to the start is down to how Android (and Linux) handles files. You may not have seen them before, but within your Android phone are lots of system files that are necessary to keep everything running.
To prevent users from accidentally deleting or renaming these files, Android uses a special feature where any file beginning with a period is hidden from view. Then, every system-important folder has a period appended to the start to hide it from the user.
When you rename a file or folder this way, this triggers the hiding feature used for system files. As such, Android believes it’s something that should be hidden, so it hides the file away.
Using an App to Hide Photos and VideosIf you want, you can go even further and use a third-party app to hide your photos and videos. Hide Something allows you to select the media files that you want to hide, then stash them away in a hidden section. You can still see the items via the app, but they’re hidden from the file system. Set a password for the app, and you’re good to go!
If you think someone will get suspicious of the app sitting around, you can get the premium version to hide it. The premium version disguises Hide Something so it looks like an innocent calculator app, which unlocks the real thing if you enter a passcode.
If you are really concerned about your privacy, you should also check out these privacy-focused browsers for your Android phone, and learn how to share your phone with others without compromising your privacy.

Penguinproxy Is A P2P Network That Can Hide Your Ip Address
Penguin Proxy is a Peer to Peer (P2P) network that can hide your IP address when connecting to any website. As of creating this post, the makers of PenguinProxy have built apps compatible with Windows 10, Linux, and macOS respectively. Also, it is available as browser extensions too. This Penguin Proxy review checks the proxy apps instead of just the browser extensions and documents our experience with the Penguin Proxy VPN.
PenguinProxy reviewThe Penguin Proxy browser extensions can only secure your browsers’ communication with any website you are visiting. To use it:
Download the installer and run the exe
Simply install the browser extension to your browser
As of now, browser extensions are available to Chrome and Firefox only. An app is better if you are using a different browser or if you frequently switch between/among browsers.
The P2P (peer to peer) model helps you only with changing the proxy’s IP address. The makers of Penguin Proxy claim they do not even store logs of what you do while using the proxy.
Is it a VPN or Proxy?
It is, in fact, a Proxy software with a bit of VPN. It does not encrypt the data to and from your computer. It depends on the HTTPS connection of web pages. You already know the difference between HTTP and HTTPS. The latter is securer compared to HTTP. In other words, instead of encrypting the data packets itself, the proxy uses the raw data encrypted by HTTPS EVERYWHERE facility that comes with almost all browsers.
I wouldn’t call it a Virtual Private Network at this stage. It is, according to my experience, a simple proxy with all the benefits of a VPN.
How Penguin Proxy works
The working part of the Penguin Proxy is borrowed from The Onion Router (TOR). While people use TOR, the data packets from their computers go from one peer computer to another in a way that the website (HTTP/S) and other protocols cannot get your real IP address already.
The proxy works somewhat like Windows Update using P2P computers to provide operating system updates (unless you turned it off). With Penguin too, you have to download a piece of software to your computer. The makers of Proxy Penguin call it client software.
The same piece of software is used on all computers that use Penguin Proxy. It means that the data packets of other users on the Penguin network can use your computer to receive and forward data packets just as TOR does. In the case of TOR, the route is too long so that the Internet Service Providers and whoever wants to tap into your computer do not receive your IP address. Same way, the computers on Penguin Proxy are related to each other for ‘helping in upholding your privacy’.
That part also turns into – “Your computer Internet data usage may go up because your computer is accepting the data packets of other users and forwarding them to another node (computer)’.
Pros and Cons of Penguin Proxy
The positive features of Penguin Proxy are:
Low system resource usage
Third party encryption (as of January 19, 2023, it employs HTTPS EVERYWHERE)
Fast but at some cost (see cons)
May increase your Internet charges
As far as the negative factors are concerned:
HTTPS EVERYWHERE – Should incorporate its own encryption
Nor a VPN really – Websites can tell that you are using a proxy or VPN; when I visited What is My IP Address website, while my IP was changed to US, the results retained “VPN detected” label (See image above)
Should you use it? If you need to watch region-restricted websites, PenguinProxy is good. But it doesn’t support any protocol other than HTTP/HTTPS. That means you cannot use for things as important as war reporting. Other apps that use more than just HTTP/S protocol, will give away your IP address when used outside of the browser. You can download it here.
