Suggested January 2024 Guide To Explorer Notes In Ark: Survival Evolved

You may stumble across Explorer Notes as you travel around the various maps in ARK. At first, they may just seem like neat little pieces of information about the world you’re in, the creatures in it, and the stories of those who came before you.

However, they can benefit you and help you reach your goals in the world sooner if you use them to boost your own experience.

What are Explorer Notes in ARK?

Explorer notes are readable notes that pop up when you near a specific location on a particular map. A few different kinds give you various information, but only a particular subset are called notes. Understanding each type of note you can find will help you know how to separate the Notes from the other types.

Creature Dossiers

Creature Dossiers are informative passages about each individual type of creature on a map. You cannot find a dossier for a creature that doesn’t spawn on a particular map – you must be on one where it spawns naturally. Even bringing a tame in via the transport system won’t make a dossier appear.

Creature Dossiers can give you some clues about approaching and using a particular creature. However, they aren’t always completely accurate. Sometimes the dossier might include something that isn’t a part of the game.

For example, the Death Worm Dossier from Scorched Earth includes a few different pieces of information.

For players who are new to ARK or don’t like to use creature information from the Internet, the Creature Dossiers are a valuable source of data that they can use to stay alive.

However, not all creatures have a dossier that you can get your hands on. Three of them do not drop one at this time and may not until the game gets an update to enable them. They are:

The Deinonychus from Valguero

The Tropeognathus from Crystal Isles

The Griffin from Ragnarok

The Creature Dossiers are written by Helena, a scientist from Australia who lived in the modern world. At the story’s beginning, she’s already been on the ARK for years. She works her way through the world, learns why the ARK exists, and then moves on to the next one.

Boss Dossiers

Boss Dossiers are similar to Creature Dossiers. They give information about a boss that you’ve fought and defeated. While it might seem more prudent to read these types of notes before you take on a brutal fight, it’s impossible. You can only access them once the boss is dead.

They are more for fun information than any type of help in the game.

Records

Records are the notes written by Sir Edmund Rockwell, a chemist who lived in London during the 1800s. They talk about his experiences in ARK and some of the recipes he created.

For example, the first Record is Rockwell Record Number One. It explains that you’ve found the journal of Sir Rockwell, a scholar, gentleman, and explorer. He says that he may be dead and if not, perhaps you stole the note. He suggests that you hang your head in shame or return it to him.

Rockwell’s Records tell his story in the same way that Notes tell the stories of others. Like Helena, he is one of the survivors whose writings you will encounter on many maps. He’s mainly interested in creating recipes for a variety of purposes. Some of them are actual recipes that the survivors can craft and use.

Journals

Journals are Notes written by Emilia, Boris, Rusty, Sky, and Trent. They’re graduate students who write about their experiences in Abberation.

Logs

Logs are records kept by Diana, Santiago, and some others. They include information about their experiences on the ARKS.

Notes

Notes can be written by several authors, including Helena. Some of the other authors include:

Mei Yin is an ancient Chinese warrior. She starts a group on The Island and tames a variety of animals. They are significant to her and drive her story.

Gaius Marcellus Nerva is a Centurion. He wants to work toward claiming everything around him for the glory of Rome. His hunger for power drives his choices.

Unknown Author is cited in certain notes, but it’s unclear who it is.

John Dahkeya was a reformed criminal from the Wild West.

HLN-A narrates discoveries for survivors who equip the Mini-HLNA skin.

The more ARKs you play on, the more notes from different authors you will find. To play the entire story of the ARK and learn about it from the Notes, you start on the Island and move through the maps in chronological order.

One of the most fun things about the Explorer Notes is understanding how the world works better. For example, in Note Two on The Island, Helena explains that the world doesn’t have an axial tilt, which means there are no seasons. That helps explain the different biomes from her perspective.

The Notes also help explain certain things that don’t make sense. For example, while writing the Mammoth Dossier, Helena explains that she sees a Tyrannosaurus attacking them even though they wouldn’t usually be in the tundra.

As you read through the notes, you track each survivor’s progress through the world and see how they dealt with being transported to and left on the ARK. You can also see some interactions between characters. For example, Helena explains that Rockwell gave her an Argetavis and that she wants to get floral samples for him.

How to Use Explorer Notes

Explorer Notes have benefits beyond informing you about creatures and telling you about the story of the ARK you’re on. They also offer players an XP boost for a limited time after they’re read.

However, there are a few caveats and some things you can do to get the best possible effect from the notes.

First, the effect of the notes is to give your character a double XP boost for 600 seconds. This means that everything you do will provide you with double the normal XP for the next ten minutes.

Next, the double XP bonus stacks. If you read a few notes in a row, you can extend the bonus for a longer time. Many people who decide to take on large creatures will first fly to a few notes and read them. In that way, they maximize some of the highest XP gains in the game.

You can also give a mounted creature double XP. You must be riding it when the XP takes hold to receive the bonus.

If you die or fast travel anywhere, the XP bonus disappears. This includes every XP bonus you currently have active.

Many players also use the Explorer Notes to grind through levels. They activate a note and then craft high XP items or large numbers of other items. If you’re trying to gain new engrams quickly, this is one route that can help you do so.

How To Combat & Recover From Negative Seo Attack: The Survival Guide

The email starts off with “This is an extortion email” and goes on to say if you do not pay a certain amount of money, the sender will hit your website with tactics they call negative SEO.

Now what?

Yes, negative SEO exists and can impact your site’s performance on Google. Scraped content from your website, spammy links, and unnatural anchor text are all evidence that your site might have been a victim of negative SEO. While it is difficult to avoid an attack, especially for larger sites, it is not impossible to stay protected.

What Exactly is Negative SEO?

Negative SEO is when someone uses unethical, black hat techniques to harm a website’s rankings in the search results. Basically, they do everything Google says not to do in order to make it look you are violating Google policies. Although negative SEO can take different forms, here are some common ways your site can be attacked:

Building bad links to your site using unrelated keywords

Hacking your website to add malicious code

Creating fake social profiles of your company

Why Can Negative SEO be Risky?

Google can’t always tell the difference between a site being hit with negative SEO and an actual spammer, which is why you should always keep an eye on your websites links and traffic. Start-ups or new websites are generally not a target (but they can be); it is usually bigger websites that become the prey.

Google has started to address this issue and is now providing solutions through the Google Webmaster Tools and the Disavow tool. This is another reason why people tend to avoid taking a risk.

There’s either good SEO or bad SEO. Negative SEO is an intentional act of spamming a website or over-optimizing it to lower its rankings in SERPs or get it penalized by Google (in worst-case scenarios).

Types of Negative SEO

Unfortunately, negative SEO works incredibly well and has the potential to harm your site in many different ways. Let’s dig deeper into the world of negative SEO before you get hit by Google’s ban hammer.

Here are the types of negative SEO your business can encounter:

Bad Links

Your competitor can build bad links to your website by paying off a few dollars to adult sites, gambling sites, or a banned website. Creating a link farm is the easiest way to get you hit with a Google penalty. This is done by creating a group of websites that hyperlink to each other to increase the number of incoming links.

If a competitor does this aggressively enough, Google may ban your site. Some aggressive negative SEOs will only target to take down a specific page on the website by building low-quality links to a subpage.

Unnatural Anchor Text

Unnatural anchor text is a link using anchor text that is not related to the page on which it exists or is linked to. It is a common negative SEO technique that can harm your ranking and get you penalized. Thus, it is vital to ensure all the anchor text linking to your website uses relevant keywords.

Domain Redirects

A 301 redirect passes 90-99 percent of the link juice or ranking power to the redirected page. When used for negative SEO, the competitor can:

301 redirect unrelated/banned domains to your site

301 redirect gambling/SEO/pharma/adult domains to your site

Virus and Malware

Implantation of malware can result in site intrusion. If a malicious code is entered into the HTML source code of your website by a hacker, Google could quickly de-list your site. You would probably find out the code was inserted after receiving an alert email in your Webmaster Tools account or if somebody saw a notice on Google upon searching for your website.

A virus or Trojan Horse can lower a website’s trust rating. As a result, your website is likely to be reported as unreliable. WordPress hacks and SQL Injection are two common tactics used in negative SEO. Moreover, your site can also be infected with a display message like “This site may harm your computer”.

Playing Profile Games Maximizing Problems

Yet other tactics that can be used to attack your website with negative SEO including:

Linking the website to pages that do not exist

Creating multiple duplicate content (which will get Google’s immediate attention)

How Can You Find Out if your Website is a Victim of Negative SEO?

Finding out whether or not your site has been affected by negative SEO can be difficult. Here are some tips to spot any negative SEO attacks on your site:

Sudden Fall in Search Traffic

If you haven’t gone against the Google Webmaster guidelines but there’s a massive drop in search traffic, you might be a victim of negative SEO. This is why it is important to pay attention to traffic coming to your website. This can be done by using a variety of tools like Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, Searchmetrics, SEMrush, etc.

Google Analytics

Go to Google Analytics and open your website

Google Webmaster Tools

Login to your Google Webmaster Tools account.

You will get a graph reflecting your website’s traffic. Go through this data to find out if traffic to your website has fallen recently.

For a quick review, try these tools:

Searchmetrics

Go to Searchmetrics’ Essentials page

Look for the Start your analysis now button on the right side and enter your website URL

The dashboard will show you a graph of your website’s SEO visibility and paid visibility and the traffic coming to your website.

SEMrush

Go to SEMrush

Type in your website URL

Different graphs and charts on the dashboard will show the changes in traffic and an overview of the website.

Conduct a Backlink Audit

Spammers can build low quality links to your site. Conducting a backlink audit is the most important step you can take to see if your website is a victim of negative SEO. Use tools like Google Webmaster Tools, Ahrefs, and Open Site Explorer to see if someone is building spammy links to your site.

Google Webmaster Tools

You can use Google Webmaster Tools to download your site’s latest links.

Go to Google Webmaster Tools

This will give you an overview of all your inbound links.

Under “How your data is linked” section, you can find pages that are linked to most often within your website.

Export both of these reports to check for low quality websites linking to your site and anchor text that is too long.

Ahrefs

Go to chúng tôi and enter your full domain into the search bar.

This will show you a report with all the link information and a lot of data to analyze.

Look out for links that appear on a domain not indexed by Google, websites with malware warnings, link farms, or links from a page with zero Google PageRank.

Majestic SEO

This is another great tool for backlink profile analysis. On the homepage of Majestic SEO, type your site name into the search bar and make sure to check Use Fresh Index.

This will give you a list of your top backlinks with URL flow metrics, domain flow metrics, and link type.

Open Site Explorer

Check for Unnatural IPs

If your site and target markets are located entirely in a particular country, foreign IPs or TLDs should not be pointing to your site. Check for these foreign IPs and pay attention if there are multiple links from the same IP irrespective of the domain.

SEMrush can be used to check IPs. This can be done by:

Enter the domain of your website on the homepage

Select Referring IPs from the drop down

Check for Duplicate Content

Also check for duplicate copies of your content across the web. Copyscape is a great tool you can use to check for duplicity of your content. All you have to do is enter your site’s URL and the tool will scan the content to see if it has been copied elsewhere on the web.

How to Combat Negative SEO

If you were too late to take preventive measures against negative SEO and it has already caused a severe harm, it’s time to run a full-fledged rescue operation!

Data Organization: Organize all the link data you have collected from Google Webmaster Tools, Ahrefs, Majestic SEO, and Open Site Explorer then copy/paste the data from each link source into relevant sheets. Make sure you remove the duplicates from the sheet by going to the Data tab and selecting “Remove Duplicates”, so you have only one URL link.

Identifying Bad Links: When there’s a relatively huge list of backlinks, it gets time-consuming to go through each one of them for the bad links identification purpose. Use tools like URL Profiler, CognitiveSEO, and Backlinks Monitor, to identify bad links and unnatural anchor text.

Disavow the Bad Links: After you have identified and made the list of the links to be removed, submit the data into the Disavow Tool. The Disavow Tool will label a link with a tag so that Google algorithm does not credit it to your site in a positive or negative way, but keep in mind there are mixed reports on the efficacy of the tool.

You can use the Disavow tool to disavow individual links or the whole domain. I recommend using the tool as the last resort. Here’s a complete guide on Identifying Bad Links and Pruning Them Using Google’s Disavow Tool.

Contact the Webmasters: The key point to understand is that disavowing a link won’t help you come out clean. You need to contact the domain webmasters and ask them to remove these links. Getting the contact details of all these bad links might take you several days. This is where tools such as URL Profiler and Rmoov come handy:

URL Profiler

Email addresses

Whois Emails

Whois Information

The tool will take some time to fetch contact details for you.

You can try the tool free for 30 days before going for the paid version.

Rmoov

Rmoov is one of the best tools to help find webmasters’ contact information quickly. In addition to providing contact details, the tool can also send automated link removal requests to webmasters on your behalf. The email can be customized and SMTP password can be shared to send bulk link removal emails on your behalf

You can try the Basic version of the tool, which is available for free, to check the effectiveness of the tool. However, there are limitations on number of campaigns and URLs processed. The basic version allows you to search only 250 URLs. Register for the paid version for more URLs.

Some webmasters might immediately remove the links, if you are lucky, while others may try to charge you money. If they are trying to charge you to remove the links, simply mark down the site and attach the correspondence details to the reconsideration request you will be sending to Google.

How to Prevent Negative SEO

Prevention is always better than cure. Here are several measures you can take to prevent negative SEO.

Set up Google Webmaster Tools Email Alert

This should be your very first step to combat negative SEO. By setting up the alerts, you will receive an email from Google if:

Your website is attacked by malware

There’s a server connectivity problem

You have received a manual penalty from Google

Google Alerts

Google Alerts will help you keep an eye on what others are saying about your website. You will be notified immediately of any review or mention of your website on Google.

Enter the URL of your website

Choose All Results from the drop down on How Many

Enter your email to create alert

Keep Track of your Social Media Mentions

Spammers might also adopt techniques like creating fake social media profiles of your account. Report them immediately as spam.

You can use chúng tôi to find out if someone is using your brand name on social media. Whenever someone mentions your company’s name on social media, you will be notified.

Conclusion

If you receive an email threatening harm to your site with negative SEO tactics if you do not pay up, it is important to stay calm and report the email to Google. Extortion emails are cropping in the industry a lot lately, so make sure you take measures to stay safe.

You should also ensure your site is verified in Google Webmaster Tools and check your links regularly in the above mentioned tools. If you suspect your site has been targeted by negative SEO, follow the steps mentioned above. Negative SEO is a serious issue and should be handled carefully. Just stay a little extra vigilant and make sure you stay protected.

How To Use Tabs In File Explorer In Windows 11

The first feature drop for Windows 11 2023 Update Version 22H2 is available now with Cumulative Update (KB5019509). This optional non-security update brings new features which include a Taskbar Overflow menu, Tabbed File Explorer, Suggested Actions, and more. And, in this post, we will talk about how to use Tabs in File Explorer in Windows 11.

Among all these new features, Tabbed File Explorer was a long-awaited feature that users were expecting to get with Windows 11 2023 Update Version 22H2. Now, this feature has finally come with this first feature drop. You can open multiple tabs, scroll the tab list, close tabs, and do more with the new Tabbed File Explorer.

How to use Tabs in File Explorer in Windows 11

In order to use Tabs in File Explorer in Windows 11, first check for updates to get this Cumulative Update (OS Build 22621.675) to enable and get new features, including Tabbed File Explorer. After this, when you will open the File Explorer, it will open with the default Home tab. Now you can add new tabs, switch between the opened tabs, close tabs, and more. Let’s have a look at all the options.

Add new tabs to File Explorer

Switch between File Explorer tabs

Re-arrange opened tabs in File Explorer

Scroll the tab list in File Explorer

Copy files and folders between tabs in File Explorer

Close tabs in File Explorer.

1] Add new tabs to File Explorer

Just like we can open tabs in a web browser, File Explorer also lets you open or add new tabs. So, instead of opening multiple File Explorer windows, you can use tabs to open different folders, drives, etc., to ease your work. For this, you can:

Use Ctrl+T hotkey

Related: Add or Remove Libraries from File Explorer Navigation Pane in Windows 11/10

2] Switch between File Explorer tabs

You can always use your mouse cursor to switch between File Explorer tabs. Along with that, you can:

Use Ctrl+TabNumber to switch from one tab to another tab. For example, if you want to switch to tab number 5, use the Ctrl+5 keyboard shortcut. Tabs don’t have numbers on them, so you need to check the tab position yourself

Use the Ctrl+Tab hotkey to switch between tabs in a sequential order

Press the Ctrl+Shift+Tab hotkey to switch between tabs from right to left (backward).

Along with that, you can also use the left and right arrow keys and then press the Enter key to access a tab.

3] Re-arrange opened tabs in File Explorer

You may need to move or re-arrange opened tabs in File Explorer when you have opened too many tabs in File Explorer. To do this, press and hold a tab using the left mouse button, drag it to the required place, and drop it there to re-arrange or change its position.

4] Scroll the tab list in File Explorer

If you can’t see a tab in the tab list when dozens of tabs are opened, then use the Scroll tab list forward icon and Scroll tab list backward icon to scroll tabs. These icons will appear automatically when there are too many tabs in the tab list. You can also use the mouse wheel to scroll tabs and then you can access a tab, re-arrange a tab, etc.

5] Copy files and folders between tabs in File Explorer in Windows 11

This is a handy option using which you can copy multiple files and/or folders from one tab to another tab in File Explorer. For this, first, select a file or folder or multiple files present in the first tab. After that, press and hold the left mouse button to drag the selected files. Move the mouse cursor (don’t release the mouse button yet) to the other tab and that tab will become the active tab, continue moving the mouse cursor to a folder and release the mouse button. This will copy the files from the first tab to the second tab.

6] Close tabs in File Explorer

There are multiple ways to close a single tab or multiple tabs in File Explorer. These are:

Press the Ctrl+W hotkey to close the active tab or current tab

Use the mouse wheel or middle mouse button. You need to double-tab the mouse wheel/button to close a tab

Close other tabs, except the active tab

Close tab option. If you will use this option on a background tab, then it will close that particular tab. Otherwise, it will close the current tab

Close tabs to the right. File Explorer tabs that are present on the right part of the active tab will be closed.

Indeed, this Tabbed File Explorer feature is pretty useful. But there are some actions that can’t be performed yet (maybe we can have them in the future).

For example, the tabs feature in File Explorer doesn’t support selecting multiple tabs. We can do that in a browser. All we need to do is press and hold the Ctrl key and then we can select tabs using the left mouse button, but the same is not the case with File Explorer tabs. Also, we can’t move a tab or multiple tabs from one File Explorer window to another using drag-n-drop or another way. However, the feature has come with some really good options and it is surely beneficial to users.

I hope this helps.

PS: If for some reason you want to disable Tabs in File Explorer, you can do so.

Does Windows 11 File Explorer have tabs?

Yes, Windows 11 now support the tabs feature. This feature has come with Cumulative Update (KB5019509), the first feature drop for Windows 11 2023 Update 22H2. Once you get this feature, you can open multiple tabs in a single window of File Explorer, switch between tabs, scroll tab list, and more.

How do I arrange tabs in Windows 11?

If you want to arrange tabs opened in a File Explorer window of Windows 11, then simply drag a tab and drop it in the place of another tab and repeat this process. It doesn’t let you arrange multiple tabs at once. But, you can close multiple tabs, switch from one tab to another, scroll tabs in File Explorer, etc. Read this post that contains detailed information for using tabs in File Explorer in Windows 11.

Five Ways Data Science Has Evolved

According to Figure Eight’s Annual Data Science Report, 89% of data scientists love their activity, up from 67% in 2023. 49% of data scientists get reached in any event once every week for a new job. Data Scientists are essentially more inclined by almost 75% to trust that AI will be great on the planet when compared with 39% of morals experts. A ton has changed since the organization’s unique Data Science Report in 2023. Machine learning ventures are increasing and an ever-increasing number of data is required to drive them. Data Science and machine learning employments are LinkedIn’s more quickly developing occupations. Also, the web is making 2.5 quintillion bytes of information every day to power every last bit of it. Until a couple of years back, just a bunch of us had known about

Data science is more applied than any time in recent memory Difficulties Involved while dealing with Noisy Datasets Knowledge of applied science wins

Understanding the inside operations of the black box has turned out to be less imperative, except if you are the maker of the black box. Less data scientists with genuinely deep learning of statistical strategies are kept in the lab making the secret elements that ideally get coordinated within tools. This is to some degree baffling for long time data experts with thorough statistical foundation and understanding, however, this way might be important to genuinely scale modeling endeavors with the volume of information, business questions, and complexities we currently should reply.

Transition from Data-Poor to Data-Rich

As organizations progress from data poor enterprises to data-rich, wide experience and an intensive foundation in both data science and pure sciences will be required. With institutes hurrying to overcome any issues and adjusting educational programs to current industry request, the supply gap will steadily diminish. However, as individuals in their late 20s, 30s and even 40s hope to turn towards a profession in data science, they ought to essentially expand on critical, applied learning and get genuine hands-on understanding. One can’t turn into a data analyst with only one analytics track or online accreditation, one needs to augment a solid applied statistics program. Hands-on experience can go far in clearing the most troublesome ideas of data science.

Data Science is both art and science Data science and statistics are interconnected

As the field develops, the job of data scientists will evolve. One of the definitions being bandied around is that data scientists are experts in statistics. In any case, it may not be the situation with the current part which has floated from the engineering field. We have frequently heard that data science can’t be more than statistics. Sean Owen, Director of Data Science at Cloudera noticed that statistics and numerical processing have been associated for a considerable length of time, and as in every aspect of computing, we generally ache for approaches to analyse somewhat more data. As indicated by John Tukey’s paper The Future of Data Analysis, statistics must wind up worried about the dealing with and processing of data, its size, and perception. In any case, today many individuals from different background, even economics, guarantee to be data scientists. Truth be told, the research additionally spread out a couple of characterized occurrences where a portion of the data science-related tasks could turn out to be totally automated, robotized selection and tuning. The tasks that will end up being the center range of abilities later on are, highlight building and model approval, comprehension of the area, machine learning.

Make Windows 10 File Explorer Look Like Windows 7 File Explorer

Back in Windows 8 Microsoft modified the look and feel of the File Explorer with new icons, new features, ribbon menu, etc. In fact, they even changed the name from Windows Explorer to File Explorer, which makes a lot of sense. Obviously, there are some who don’t like the new File Explorer style. If you really like the Windows 7 style File Explorer or just hate the ribbon menu in the new File Explorer, you can easily modify the look and feel of the File Explorer to mimic the Windows 7 style. Here is how you can do that.

Make File Explorer Look Like Windows 7 File Explorer

Note: we are going to use a third-party software to modify the file explorer. Before making any changes, make sure that you back up your system. This helps you to revert back if anything bad happens.

In the Options window select the option “This PC” from the drop-down menu next to “Open File Explorer to.”

Once you are done with thi go ahead and download OldNewExplorer. Extract the contents onto your desktop and execute the file “OldNewExplorerCfg.exe.”

After opening the OldNewExplorer, select both checkboxes under the “Behaviour” category. The first option brings back the Windows 7-style drive grouping so that you no longer see your external or USB drives next to your hard drives, rather they will appear in a separate section.

The second option uses the Libraries, just like in Windows 7, and removes the “Folders” section from the File Explorer.

Under the Appearance section, select all the checkboxes. These options will alter the File Explorer to match the Windows 7 style. You can also select the appearance style and status bar style using the drop-down menu next to them. However, it is recommended that you leave it with the defaults.

This action installs and modifies all the necessary registry entries. Once this is done, you will have your Windows 7-style File Explorer. If you want to you can also remove the Quick Access menu from the left sidebar.

Just like in Windows 7 you will have your classic navigation menu at the top of the window.

How To Change Font Style In Notes App On Iphone, Ipad, And Mac

You can do much more with the Apple Notes app than many people think. Of course, it is a terrific note-taking tool, but you can also create lists and outlines using styles and headings. To help you take your next note to a new level, here’s how to change the font style in Notes on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

How to change font style in Notes on iPhone and iPad

You can style your font with titles, headings, and lists, as well as format it with options like bold and italic in Notes on iPhone and iPad. Additionally, you can use the Quick Styles gesture to make fast changes.

Format titles, headings, subheadings, and body text

Launch the Notes app on your iPhone → open an existing note (or create a new one).

Select the text you want to adjust or make sure that your cursor is on the same line.

Tap the Paragraph Styles (Aa) button in the toolbar at the bottom, which is above your keyboard.

Choose from Title, Heading, or Subheading. You’ll see this style only for the text on that line. When you press Return, you’ll go back to the default Body text.

For the body text, you can select Body or Monospaced. Also, like on macOS, this style then remains as you continue to type your note and press Return.

To apply bold, italic, underline, or strikethrough, make sure to select the text first, then pick one of these options in the Format window.

Format lists

To change existing text, select it. Otherwise, you can simply start a new list and add your items as you go.

Tap the Paragraph Styles button in the toolbar → Select the Bulleted, Dashed, or Numbered list button on the bottom left of the Format window.

Use the X to close the Format window and type your list items by tapping Return after each one.

Change the font format with Quick Styles

One lesser-known way to change font formats in Notes on your mobile device is using Quick Styles. You’ll receive the same options like titles, headings, body text, and lists, but you can apply them quicker.

Select the text you want to change.

Then long-press (tap and hold) the Paragraph Styles (Aa) icon in the toolbar.

You’ll immediately see that style applied to your text.

Change the default font style for new notes

While you cannot change the default font size for new notes on iPhone and iPad, you can pick a different Paragraph Style, like on Mac.

Open the Settings app → Choose Notes.

Move to the Viewing section and select New Notes Start With.

Pick Title, Heading, Subheading, or Body.

Because you have more options for font formatting in Notes on macOS than you do on iOS and iPadOS, let’s get into it.

How to change the font style in Notes on Mac

From titles and headings to body text to lists, you can make several changes to the font in Notes on Mac. Plus, you have a few extras that can help you format text exactly as you please.

Format titles, headings, and subheadings

You can format existing text or set up the style before you type your text, whichever works best for you.

If you already have the text, select it by dragging your cursor through it.

After you apply one of these formats and press Return, you’ll go back to the default Body font unless you manually change it.

Format body text and lists

You can pick Body or Monospaced for the font style in the main part of your note. Unlike titles, headings, and subheadings, your note continues to use this format as you press Return throughout your note unless you change it.

You can also format your note with a Bulleted, Dashed, or Numbered list by picking one of those styles. The default font for lists is the Body style.

When you choose a list style, enter the list item, and press Return, you’ll see another dot, dash, or number ready for your next item.

To end a list and stop the list formatting, press Return twice.

Apply bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough

Along with the above styles, you can make your text pop by applying bold, italic, underline, or strikethrough.

Select the text and do one of the following to format it:

Change the default style and font size for new notes

The default system fonts for the Apple platform are San Francisco (SF) and New York (NY). And while you may find these fonts easy to read, which is Apple’s intent, you may simply prefer something else.

As of this writing, you can’t change the default font style in Apple Notes. However, you can change the default size as well as the Paragraph Style for starting new notes.

Open the Notes app on your Mac.

Select Notes → Settings in the menu bar.

Use the Default text size slider near the bottom to adjust the font size.

With every new note you create moving forward, you’ll see your selected paragraph style and font size by default. If you want to change that style, just use the steps above.

Change the font style and color in a single note

While you cannot change the default font style and color, you can pick a different one for text in individual notes. This lets you use a particular style or color for an entire note or just certain text.

Select the text you want to format differently. For all text in a note, use the keyboard shortcut Command (⌘)+ A.

Create better notes with fonts and styles!

With a few simple changes, you can format the font in the Notes app to make it stand out, easier to read, or more attractive. Each style or format takes little time but can make a big difference when reading or sharing your notes.
