How to download the correct firmware file

This is an important part!

Be sure to check and find the correct model no. of your Galaxy A7. Then, based on your device’s model no., look for the appropriate firmware build from above.

Now that you know the model no., download the latest firmware from above for that model no. exactly.

Next, install the firmware on your Galaxy A7 by following the guide linked right below.

How to install a firmware

First, read our disclaimer, then take backup and then follow the guide below to install the firmware.

Disclaimer: Installing an official firmware through Odin doesn’t void your device’s warranty, but it remains an unofficial process and thus you need to be cautious of it. In any case, you only are responsible for your device. We won’t be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components.

Backup, backup, backup! Create an appropriate backup of contacts, pictures, videos, songs and other important files stored on your device before proceeding with the steps below, so that in case something goes wrong you’ll have a backup of all your important files. Sometimes, firmware installation may delete everything on your device! Like, when you change the CSC of your device, knowingly or not.

Step-by-step Firmware Installation Guide

Let’s see how to install the firmware on your Galaxy A7. Make sure you have more than 30% battery on your device.

Step 1. Make sure you have downloaded the correct firmware file on your PC. See above for how to download correct firmware file for your Galaxy A7 and download links.

Step 3. Also, download Odin PC software (latest version).

Step 5. Extract the Odin file. You should get the Odin exe file (other files could be hidden, hence not visible).

Step 6. Disconnect your Galaxy A7 from PC if it is connected.

Step 7. Boot into download mode:

Power off your device. Wait for 6-7 seconds after screen goes off.

Press and hold the three buttons Volume down + Home + Power together until you see the Warning screen.

Press Volume Up to continue to download mode.

Step 9. Connect your device now using the USB cable. Odin should recognize your device. It’s a must. When it recognizes, you will see Added!! message appearing in the Log box in the bottom left, and the first box under ID:COM will also show a no. and turn its background blue. Look at the pic below.

You cannot proceed until you get the Added!! message, which confirms that Odin has recognized your device.

If you don’t get Added!! message, you need to install/re-install drivers again, and use the original cable that came with the device. Mostly, drivers are the problem (look at step 2 above).

You can try different USB ports on your PC too.

Load the firmware files(s) on your device. This depends on how many files you got in step 4 above upon extracting the firmware .zip file.

Case 1: If you got a single .tar/.tar.md5 file, then load this into AP tab of your Odin software. Then go to next step.

Case 2: If you got more than one .tar/.tar.md5 file, then you must be having files starting with AP, CSC, Home_CSC, BL, CP, etc. stuff. In this case, choose the files as follows. Select the firmware files as follows.

About CSC file: Using the HOME_CSC file won’t reset your device, and data on the phone shouldn’t be deleted. However, when we select regular CSC file, and it results in CSC on the device being different than that in CSC file, your phone will be formatted automatically. You can even choose to ignore loading the CSC file, that may do alright too. But if it doesn’t work out, repeat the whole process and select CSC file this time around.

Info: When you load files, Odin checks the md5 of firmware file, which takes time. So, simply wait until that’s done and the firmware file is loaded. Don’t worry if Odin gets unresponsive for a while, it’s normal. Binary size will also show up in Odin.

Go back to Log tab now, as it will show the progress of firmware installation when you hit the start button in next step.

Wait till installation is finished, after which your device will reboot automatically. You’ll get PASS message as shown below upon successful installation from Odin.

Some errors you may run into, and with respective solution.

If Odin gets stuck at setup connection, then you need to do this all again. Disconnect your device, close Odin, boot device into download mode again, open Odin, and then select the file and flash it again as said above.

If you get FAIL in the top left box, then also you need to flash the file again as stated just above.

That’s it. Let the device restart automatically.

Firmware Benefits

You can use the firmware for a variety of purposes, which includes:

Fix your Galaxy A7 if it’s giving you force closes errors and restarts randomly.

Unbrick your Galaxy A7 if it’s bootlooping and stuck at logo when restarting.

Go Back to Stock on your Galaxy A7 — helps when looking to sell the device, or fix installing OTA updates if broken.

Restore Galaxy A7 to factory state.

Upgrade your Galaxy A7 to newer Android version.

Downgrade your Galaxy A7 to lower build no. at same Android version.

Unroot your Galaxy A7.

Remove custom recovery like TWRP and CWM, if installed, on your Galaxy A7.

Reboot to recovery mode. For this, press and hold Volume down and Power buttons together until you see anything on the screen.

Once it is finished, select ‘Reboot system now’ option to restart the OnePlus 6 and boot to Open Beta 1 update that gets you stable Android Pie update from OnePlus.

Done!

The above section of this article was all about the official updates for the OnePlus 6 from the OEM. Here, we will talk about the custom ROMs based on Android 9 that have been compiled from AOSP and are compatible with the OnePlus 6.

Because the Android Pie update is now available from the OnePlus 6 themselves, it doesn’t make much sense to install an unofficial update via AOSP ROM, especially given the ROM’s development stage. However, with time, the Android 9 ROMs would get better, and may extra features and customization that would make them a better choice for the enthusiasts.

How to install

Before you go on to install the ROM based on Android 9 for your OnePlus 6, be sure to read the

known issues

with the current version of the ROM at the development page linked here. If that’s okay with you, then go on to install the ROM using the guide right below.

→ Find all latest OnePlus 6 updates here. [Firmware here]

Make sure you have the latest TWRP recovery installed. Find the guide to install TWRP on OnePlus 6 here.

Download the latest Android 9 ROM and Gapps files from above. (The ROM comes in .XZ format, while Gapps comes in .ZIP format.)

Extract the ROM file in .ZX format to get the larger ROM file (system GSI) in .IMG format. (You can use a free software like 7-zip for this on your PC.)

Take the appropriate backup of your device as this will need a factory reset, which would delete everything on the device.

→ Be sure to transfer the extracted .IMG file of the ROM, not the downloaded file.

Reboot into recovery mode to access TWRP. For this:

Power off the device.

Press and hold power and volume down buttons together for a few seconds until you see the OnePlus logo on the screen. You will see the TWRP soon.

[Careful!] Perform a factory reset. In TWRP, tap the Wipe button, and then perform the swipe action to confirm the factory reset.

On TWRP main screen, tap on Mount, and then make sure System is selected.

Install the Android 9 Pie ROM on your OnePlus 6.

Go back to home screen of TWRP.

Tap on the Install button.

Tap on the Install image button.

Now select the System Image file you transferred earlier.

Select System Image option.

Now Swipe at the bottom to confirm the installation.

Install the Gapps file. Go the home screen of TWRP, and then tap on Install, select the Gapps file you transferred above, and then confirm the installation by swiping at the bottom of the screen.

Tap on Reboot system button after installing the Gapps file to restart the device.

That’s all. Your OnePlus 6 will boot with the unofficial Android 9 Pie update now.

Which ROM do you have installed on your OnePlus 6?

Xxdlg4 – The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Firmware For Galaxy S3 I9300

Samsung is yet to update its current flagship device, Galaxy S3, to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) with its official software Kies but there is a new test firmware already available online, named i9300XXDLG4, or simply XXDLG4. It’s only for international Galaxy S3, model number i9300, and not for any other Galaxy S3 variant, including one at Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, etc.

Those who are interested in trying this leaked test Samsung firmware, can do so by flashing it using Odin software. Just be sure to be on Samsung firmware, and NOT on any custom rom like Cyanogenmod 10, before trying this.

We have a got a complete guide for you ready below, so better follow it word-to-word to upgrade Galaxy S3 to Jelly Bean with the XXDLG4 firmware, based on Android 4.1.

But before we see the installation guide, let’s get to know this build a more. First up, this is a very test build — I know it’s boring to know that it’s test build again and again, but that’s that — and thus, it contains its fair share of bugs. But if you’re an android enthusiast who has been keeping Galaxy S3 Cyanogenmod 10 Rom, you already know who to live with bugs, which I think are anytime less than a custom firmware.

The guys at SamMobile are to thank for this leak, and they also report that there were some problems experienced by them: all contents of internal sdcard getting deleted, problem in installation of some apps, etc. While this could turn out to be a problem with a particular device, and not a general one, it’s still safe to say that if you want to remain perfectly safe, do not try this firmware, and rather wait for Samsung to release the Jelly Bean update to your region via Kies, which should be in one month or so now.

Now, let’s see the installation instructions, after which we will see what’s new in this firmware apart from Android 4.1 and some screenshots too. But before all this, some warnings and compatibility notes.

Compatibility

This guide to install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean firmware is compatible only and only with the international Galaxy S3, model number i9300. It’s not compatible with the US variants or any other device. Check your device’s model number in: Settings » About phone.

Warning!

The methods and procedures discussed here are considered risky and you should not attempt anything if you don’t know completely what it is. If any damage occurs to your device, we won’t be held liable.

How to Install XXDLG4 Samsung Galaxy S3 Firmware Based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Follow the guide below to the letter to upgrade your Galaxy S3 to Android 4.1 with the leaked experimental firmware, XXDLG4. If you are on custom rom, pay even more attention. And know that you will lose warranty if you apply this. Once again, it is risky firmware to install, so who are new to this, may well wait for official release, expected in a month or so.

Some more things about the i9300XXDLG4 firmware: it;s got no CSC file, no Modem file, and is just a big bunch of PDA file, containing Android 4.1. Not a worry, though. And yes, the build date of the firmware, it’s 31 July 2012 — if you are thinking about a new more official more working firmware already because it’s been 16 days since this firmware’s build date, you are not alone.

UPDATE: I can confirm it wiped my internal sdcard as suspected which it wasn’t exactly supposed to do, so, do take full backup of all contents of your internal sdcard. Take backup of all files on your phone’s sdcard, including, camera pics and videos, screenshots, songs, videos, movies, etc. all of them.

Install XXBLG6 Samsung firmware first. It is mandatory if you are on custom rom, and recommended anyway. (Actually, if you are sure you are Samsung firmware, and not on any custom rom of any sort, you can skip this step.) So, once you have installed the XXBLG6 firmware, go to next step.

Link: . Filename: I9300XXDLG4_NO_CSC_NO_MODEM.zip. Size: 638.7 MB.

Extract the I9300XXDLG4_NO_CSC_NO_MODEM.zip file on the computer to this file — CODE_I9300XXDLG4_11164_REV00_eng_mid_noship.tar.md5 — that you have to select in Odin in step 12 below to flash it on Galaxy S3 using Odin. More on this later.

Extract the contents of the Odin3_v3.04.zip file to a folder on your computer.

Now, turn off your Galaxy S3 and wait for some 5-6 seconds after screen goes off to allow it to shut down completely.

Then, put the phone into download mode. To do so, press and hold these keys together: Volume Down + Home + Power till the screen turns on. Then press Volume Up to enter download mode. You can flash a firmware only from download mode.

If you don’t get this message, make sure you installed drivers correctly (using Kies or directly) as given in step 1. If it still doesn’t work, try changing to another USB port on the computer and also use the USB ports on the back if you have a desktop PC.

Your Odin’s screen should look like this after step 13:

Upon successful flashing on XXDLG4, your Odin’s screen would look like this:

So, perform these steps for doing a Factory Reset:

Boot into 3e recovery mode — just press and hold Home + Volume Up + Power keys together till you see the Samsung logo, and then let them go of keys to boot into recovery. Once you are in recovery mode, use volume keys to move the selection up and down and home/power key to select the option.

Go to Wipe data/Factory Reset and select it. Select Yes on next screen.

Now, go to Wipe Cache and select it. Confirm Yes on next screen.

Then, select reboot system now to reboot the phone, which will now restart/boot properly.

So, in case the Galaxy S3 hangs up while restarting in step 14, step 15 should get it to work. It should be booting up perfectly now. And you must be having Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based XXDLG4 firmware on your Galaxy S3 now. Let us know what do you think about it.

Ok, more screenshots:

XXDLG4 Changelog

Google Now is here (almost the Jelly bean Update defining feature, right? So, kinda obvious.)

New Notification bar. Take a screenshot by holding Home key and Power keys together for 1 second and then pull the notification bar to see it in expanded form

New widget (and feature perhaps): Invert mode. There is a widget called Negative colors which puts your phone into invert mode, with opposite colors showing up everywhere. Bummer, doesn’t take screenshots in negative colors even when you have it enabled. What gives?

New feature “Dormant Mode”

To access Google Now, tap on Google Search widget, or hold home key for recent apps, or one more great thing: simply double tap home key, the mic will open up, speak into it (the double tap didn’t work for me when I spoke into it)

New Recent Apps screen, when you hold the Home key. Allow you to go to Google Now too, and the task manager as earlier

Some new LWPs (Live Wallpapers)

Jpki1 Arabic Firmware For Galaxy S2

A new firmware for Galaxy S2, jpki1, just got released and while it’s not alone — there is another firmware called zcki2 — it’s still a good thing for those living in Arab nations since this one is specifically for them. So, hopefully you’ll have Arabic fonts, Arabic keyboard, Arabic languages, etc. already quite pre-installed in jpki1. If you’re installing this ROM for Arabic fonts, keyboard, etc let us know too whether it has them or not.

Even though S2’s predecessor phone, Galaxy S, has got an Android 2.3.5 based firmware leaked for it, the S2 is yet to get its share of Android 2.3.5 love. Yes, this means that jpki1 is based off Android 2.3.4, which isn’t a bad thing anyway, because hell lot of expensive android phones are still in line to taste the v2.3.4 of android OS. So, hats off to Samsung for outing the latest android builds sooner to its users.

[error]This guide is applicable only for Samsung’s Galaxy S2 (S II) international version (i9100). Check your phone’s version in Settings – About Phone. The model number has to be “GT-i9100” for this firmware to be compatible with your phone. If it’s not GT-i9100, simply don’t try this ROM on your android handset — don’t even think about it if you care about your android device.[/error]

Warning:

Warranty may be void of your device if you follow the procedures given on this page. You only are responsible for your device. We wont be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components.

Pre-Installation thoughts:

Drivers! — it’s important you’ve the proper drivers installed. Download links below:

If you have Samsung’s PC software Kies installed, un-install it first because it may interrupt the flashing process. If you’ve installed it for sake of drivers which otherwise weren’t working, make sure you exit the Kies completely before beginning the procedure below.

How To Install jpki1 on Galaxy S2 i9100 (for experienced users)

Well, it’s pretty easy if you’ve already had fun flashing using Odin a decent number of times. Download jpki1 (password: chúng tôi and install it using Odin 1.85 included in the firmware package itself. Put the *CODE* file in PDA tab, *Modem* file in Phone tab and *multi CSC* file in CSC tab. There is no .pit file here, so PIT Tab in odin will be blank and keep Re-Partition button un-ticked too. Hit Start!

If you didn’t get what was said above, don’t worry one bit, a guide for you is just below.

Step-By-Step Guide to Install jpki1

If this is your first time, you may want to see a video of out how a firmware is flashed using Odin software on a Windows PC. Well, the video given below is all you need. It shows installing the KG1 firmware on S2 and the procedure is very similar for KG6. If you like, you can watch the video first to see how it’s done and then do the actual flashing following the guide given below which is more than enough on its own too.

[youtube video_id=”lhiPl4HGNuo” width=”600″ height=”400″ /]

Extract the downloaded file ‘I9100JPKI1.rar’ to get these 4 files:

APBOOT_I9100JPKI1_CL566704_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5

CODE_I9100JPKI1_CL566704_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5

GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC-OJPKI1.tar.md5

MODEM_I9100XXKI1_REV_02_CL1058311.tar.md5

Disconnect your phone if it’s connected to PC.  Switch Off your phone. Wait 5-6 seconds for vibration to confirm complete switch off.

Now, put the Galaxy S2 in Download Mode — press and hold these keys together: Volume_DOWN+Home+Power. This is required to install the jpki1 using Odin PC Software.

Open Odin (from step 3) — Odin3 chúng tôi Admin privileges would be required!

Connect your phone to PC now. You should get the message “Added! !” under the Odin’s message box in the bottom left. If you don’t get this message, than probably there is a problem with drivers. Make sure you’ve the drivers installed — if not, use the link(s) given above in the pre-installation thoughts heading above. If you still don’t get ‘Added’ message, try another USB port, or restart PC. You can also try installing the Kies software as a last resort, this should fix it.

Select these files in Odin at respective tabs:

Important! Make sure these 2 checkboxes are ticked: Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time. Since we’re NOT using any .pit file, Re-Partition checkbox needs to be UN-TICKED!

Double check everything said in step 8 and 9 above.

Now, hit the START button to begin the flashing process. When it finishes, your phone will automatically reboot — and you can unplug the cable then. Plus, you’ll get a PASS (with green background) message in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. If it’s red and with FAIL written over it, the process flashing process wasn’t successful. Try again, and take care to complete the whole process without any break whatsoever.

(Optional, of course) If you found this guide useful, share it with others too on webpages, forums, your Facebook/twitter/Google+ pages, etc. That would be helping us grow too!
