Who is a Stakeholder, or What is a stakeholder?

Let’s see the types of stakeholders and how the company benefits them

The company helps a location grow; this, in turn, helps the government pay taxes to the government, pays VAT, follows legislation, creates employment opportunities, reports truthfully to the state government, etc.

The company employees earn their bread and butter from the company. The company rates their wages or salaries, gives them job security, and compensates them for their jobs and loyalties, giving the employees respect and a fair communication opportunity.

The company’s customers earn value for their money when they buy the organization’s goods and services; they spend for the quality of the products they want; the company also gives them good service and ethical products. So yes, even customers are part of the stakeholders of the company.

Suppliers are people or smaller companies who provide raw materials to the company. The result of these raw materials is the finished goods that they supply to the customers. The company provides business opportunities to these suppliers, which creates employment for the suppliers and their people.

The company benefits creditors with their credit scores, new contracts, and liquidity.

For a community, a company or an organization provides job opportunities, involvement, protection of the environment, sharing of the company listed or not listed, and truthful communication.

              Trade Unions

The concern of a trade union is providing a qualitative work atmosphere, protection for workers, and job opportunities for people.

The company owners are concerned with the profit-making ratios of the company, the longevity of the company, its market share and position, its succession planning, capital raising, its social goals, and the company’s growth.

The investors put in their money; hence they will only be concerned with the returns they receive on their investments and how much they earn through their investments.

                  Types of stakeholders

Now the above list is divided into two types of stakeholders

                  Primary stakeholders or internal stakeholders

The secondary stakeholders or the external stakeholders

These stakeholders are people who do not directly engage in the economic transaction of the organization; however, they are either affected by the actions of the company, or they can affect the actions of the company, for example, the community, the general public, the media, activist groups, communist and also business support groups.

                    What is Stakeholder Management?

Stakeholders are critical and sensitive to an organization as they directly impact its operations. No company can exist without the support of stakeholders. Developing and controlling relationships with stakeholders is a crucial part of project management, as they play a vital role in the organization’s success. Studies show that businesses often fail due to a lack of involvement from key stakeholders. Improving relationships with stakeholders can enhance their involvement, leading to better business and project outcomes. Stakeholder support and contribution include executive support, sponsorship, emotional maturity, and effective utilization of the organization’s ecosystem, such as infrastructure, procurement, facilities, and legal support.

                    Why Manage Stakeholders?

Efficient stakeholder management is crucial as stakeholders have different roles, allegiances, powers, interests, and importance throughout the company’s life cycle. Managing stakeholders effectively is important as they can block or support your business. Stakeholders’ interest varies, and it’s essential to prioritize and manage them based on their significance to the business. For example, you are into a project in which your boss will be extremely interested. So will your family; however, an outsider not directly related to you will not be as interested. Similarly, in a business, the owner and the employees will be very interested; however, the community and the media will not.

                    Effective Stakeholder Management Steps

With the help of 5 simple steps, we can help you manage stakeholders effectively.

                    Identify and Acknowledge your Stakeholders

The very 1st part of managing your stakeholders is to know them. You need first to know the stakeholders and their concerns, for example, people who can affect your business, like people from all around the organization, and people who can be affected by your business, like the community, the suppliers, etc., as an organization, you will have a huge list of stakeholder hence you have to prioritize every interested stakeholder; however efficiently. Priorities are given below.

Stakeholders with high power and high interested

You need to make sure that you keep this lot of people happy, they must be completely engaged, and you must put in all your efforts to keep them satisfied or content.

Stakeholders with high power and less interest

You need to keep even this lot happy and content, and hence you need to put in a good amount of effort in this lot of people; however, make sure that you limit your efforts somewhere, or else they will be bored or irritated by your messages.

Stakeholders with low power and high interest

To keep these people happy is also important. Keep this lot well informed and keep talking to them to make sure that no issues are cropping up. Besides, this lot can be very useful as they offer helpful details for your business.

Stakeholders with low power and less interest

The Purpose of Management needs to be Defined

Obviously, before you execute a job, you need to know its purpose. A key purpose will help you engage stakeholders effectively as it gives meaning to your management. The purpose you want to achieve with your stakeholder engagement will vary with the sector or the industry and, of course, with your organization. However, the common purposes for a public sector organization will include the following.

                      Development of policies

                      Planning of shared services

                      Planning travel

                      Initiative toward the environment

                      Development and encouragement of curriculum

                      Arranging campaigns for healthcare

                      Risk protection

The purpose of a retail sector organization will include

                      Development of the product

                      Refining the line of product

                      Issuing special offers

                      Working on pricing strategy

                      Planning new retail outlets

Working on the improvement of service levels

Working on the store interiors and its interiors

These purposes can help you use the list of these stakeholders and manage their involvement in the venture in the best possible way. Making them work together, showing how considerate they are, and keeping them informed or satisfied depends on how interested, active, and influential the stakeholders are.

Choose the Right Tool to Communicate with them

Now that you know your stakeholders and how interested they are, and your purpose for their involvement, you must also know how to communicate with them. You need the right tool here. In this digital era, you must choose the right digital tool to communicate with your stakeholders. To engage with each stakeholder group, we recommend you create a map. Create a map with 4 blocks of stakeholders according to their priorities. And on the map, jot down the types of engagement and communication you would want to use to inform or engage the stakeholder. Remember, for every lot, according to their priorities, you will choose the right way to communicate with them. Also, the level of engagement will be different for each group.

Create a Plan of Action and also Activate the Plan

Once the stakeholder analyses are done, you need to focus on the key personnel associated with them; besides knowing the key people, you also need to know their level of interest and importance. This is the best way to interact effectively with the stakeholders, especially in planning proactive communication. In your action plan, you will also identify the obstacles you might face while executing business and communication plans. Your next step will be to serve and eliminate or minimize the cropping up of these obstacles. Identifying problems is not easy; you need to practice it to identify and remove them. These problems can be:

                          Missing knowledge and information

Planning and decision-making with less engagement

                          Not informed to participate

Not available due to other responsibilities

Unavailable due to location and duration

Does not agree with the changes and the proposition

                          Inefficient skills

                          Conflicts with the other stakeholders

External provider with no formal agreement in place

                          Potential doubts of the stakeholder

Based on the stakeholder’s position on the map, you can communicate with them. Now that you know the obstacles you can face, you need to get the right information and solution. You can now activate your plan by

Communicating with them about their matter of interest

Gaining information relevant to the project

Managing the expectations of the stakeholders again according to their priorities.

Involving them in the all-important decision.

Managing the Plan and Monitoring it

Once you set any plan managing it and monitoring it is extremely important. You can assess each stakeholder’s position, check their requirements, and determine if the process needs any action. Check their determination and commitments and if you require adding a management plan. Check on how well the stakeholders are managed. Focus on front and performance management to understand what amendments and adjustments need. Take feedback from stakeholders; it will help you understand the situation and the additions and subtractions you must make. Once all the processes are in place and all the stakeholders have been allotted their jobs and duties, you must continue to monitor the processes, if important, and apply the management process all over again.

                            Banner Button

                            1. Name

Your channel name is the first point of interaction with your audiences. It must give a sense of what kind of content your channel contains. It is displayed on your page, and all your videos show up in YouTube’s search results. Ideally, your channel name should be something that describes the topic and must be unique yet simple. The name should be easy to remember and recall and preferably be reused to create accounts on other social media platforms. Finally, it would help if you avoided innovative capitalization (stick to the simple name), numerals, and special characters.

                            2. Category

Channel category helps filter YouTube channels for relevance. It typically indicates the main objective of the channel. It helps target the right kind of audience with your content. YouTube has a plethora of categories to choose from and to bucket your channel. Some of them include, Autos & Vehicles, Music, Pets & Animals, Sports, Travel & Events, Gaming, People & Blogs, Comedy, Entertainment, News & Politics, How & Style, Education, Science & Technology, Nonprofits & Activism.

                            3. Profile

The profile is where you can add your branding and bring your voice to your page. In the profile, you can add a banner, photo, background cover, etc., to make the channel reflect your own. You can edit the theme and icons and make the profile look more attractive and exciting. This change and profile updates make your YouTube channel look unique and stand-alone.

                            4. Description

A description is where you introduce your channel to your audience to give them a gist of what you are looking to share. The better the description, the better it will target the audience. It falls under the ‘About’ tab of your channel. Though there are templates available online, there is no substitute for describing your channel in your own words. Some things you must remember about the description are:

Write for the audience, not for you. Talk about what is in it for your audience. Your channel may be great but think about how it benefits your viewer.

Be conscious about your branding. Ensure the description aligns with your brand and what it wants to communicate to the audience.

Make the content both informative and exciting to read. The first 120 characters are displayed on search engines, so make sure they are helpful and precise.

Optimize the content. Use popular keywords, see what your audiences are typically looking for and build relevant description content.

Tags are the keywords mentioned in the description that are directly or indirectly related to the context of the uploaded videos. You add the keywords in the video to help the audience find your content. Whenever a viewer searches for the tags you used in your video, the search results will automatically put your video in the suggestion and ultimately increase your views.

                            6. Banner Button

A banner is something that carries a full-fledged graphical introduction to your channel. It may include facts about your theme and channel. Some people also use it for announcements of upcoming events. YouTube here gives the option to redirect your audience directly to your other social media platforms. You can keep the links on the banner so your audience can find you on other platforms.

                            7. Watermark

Plagiarism and illegal content reuse are big problems that need to be addressed as most content goes online. Apart from ensuring your content is authentic, it is also essential to make sure others do not showcase your content as their own. It is where watermarks become vital. YouTube provides the option to watermark all your videos. When you add watermarks, YouTube adds your logo to all your videos. It makes it harder for people to plagiarise your content without giving you credit.

                            8. Thumbnails

Users will not always play your video when appearing on their feed. Your video should look impressive from the outside and be capable of attracting the audience’s focus. You can use the alluring thumbnails to captivate the viewer’s attention. An ideal thumbnail should be good in picture quality and of the perfect size. It should carry the title or some texts that explain your content in a better way. It helps in increasing the taps and watch hours.

If verification is required, a verification code through text message will be sent to your number, or a phone call verification will be conducted for the channel.

Step 3: Customization of the New Channel

After creating your Youtube channel, start customizing it to suit your needs.

                            It displays the Customization tab.

The Customization tab lets you customize your channel using the following three tabs – Layout, Branding, and Basic Info.

This tab has all the setting options related to the appearance of your channel. It has sections such as:

Video Spotlight, where you can find the options for publishing

                            Channel Trailer for non-subscriber

                            Featured videos for returning subscribers

Features Section is where you can choose any ten videos from your recent to feature on the home page.

You can upload or select the video of your choice when you start uploading the videos.

The next tab you have to customize is the Branding tab. This tab gives you the option to choose the colors, styles, and overall design for your channel. Here you have the feature of customizing your Profile, Banner, and Video Watermark.

Setting up Profile: Add the profile to your channel. Create or select a picture that you think goes the best with your channel.

: The minimum size of the image should be 98 x 98px, and the size of the file should not exceed 4MB.

: The acceptable format of the file is JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, and GIF. However, animated GIFs are not as supportable as the profile picture.

To set up your profile, complete the following:

Setting up Banner: The following detail to add to the Channel is the Banner. Create a Banner that carries some selected and significant information about your channel.

: The minimum size of the banner should be 2048 x 1152 px with an aspect ratio of precisely 16:9. The dimension 1235 x 338 px safe area should be kept for details.

: The support formats for the banners are JPG, PNG, and BMP.

To set your profile, complete the following:

After creating the banner, complete the following:

Select your image from your device.

Adjust and crop the image to fit in well.

Note: You can add more details to your banner, like links. Use the Edit Banner option under the Banner section to add the details.

Setting up Watermark: The last branding section is Watermark. A watermark will automatically be added to all the videos on your channel when you publish them. The aspect ratio of the Watermark is already standardized to fit in properly.

Size – The suggested length of the Watermark is 150 x 150 px. The maximum acceptable size of the file is 1MB.

Format – YouTube has recommended uploading the file in PNG or GIF format only. The dual-colored image with no background is preferred as the best here.

When you are ready to upload the Watermark, complete the following:

Select the Watermark from your device.

                            Basic Info

The third and last tab in Customization is the Basic Info tab. As the name suggests, this is the tab where you publish basic information about your channel. It includes the editing and publishing descriptions about the channel, the channel’s name, and outside links.

Step 4: Uploading the First Video

Uploading content is not only about uploading a video. It would be best to keep in mind things like the Title of the video, Thumbnail, Description of the video, Tags, Subtitles, Playlist, and Privacy Settings. It will help grow your channel.

To begin uploading the first video, complete the following:

Select the video you want to upload. It will display a new page, and the process will start.

Add all the necessary details to the video.

Manage Docker Images In Google Chrome With Simple Docker Ui

Docker is an interesting platform. With it you can deploy thousands of containers with pre-configured software for use on servers. What’s even more interesting is that this platform has gotten so huge that it can be used on other platforms outside of Linux.

That is, until now. Introducing Simple Docker UI. It’s a Chrome-based app that allows you to install, manage and tweak docker images.

                            Installing Docker

Before using Simple Docker UI you’ll need to get Docker installed and running on your system. There are some detailed instructions on how to get the Docker system up and running on Ubuntu Linux. Just head over to this guide, and follow it step by step. Soon after, Docker should be running on your system, and you’ll be able to try out the Simple Docker UI app.

Not using Ubuntu? Don’t worry, Docker has it’s own instructions for all operating systems. Just head here, and you’ll have it set up in no time!

                            Getting Simple Docker UI

Simple Docker UI is a Chrome application – meaning, in order for everything to work properly you’ll need to have a valid Google Chrome or Chromium installation on your system. Both are fairly easy to install.

                            Setting Up Simple Docker UI

Though thi is a Chrome app, that doesn’t mean it’ll work right away. First, you’ll need to configure a few things. To start, open a terminal window and do the following:

Once inside the file, paste the configuration below into it.

                            =Docker HTTP Socket

                            the API

Once the configuration is in the file, save it by pressing “Ctrl + O” on your keyboard. Then, exit nano by pressing “Ctrl + x.” Doing this will ensure that Simple Docker UI can connect to the remote API.

You’re not done yet, though. Some modules need to be started. The first thing that needs to be done is that the systemd file we created needs to be enabled. This can be done with:

Once enabled, Docker needs to be stopped. Why? The socket can’t be started without it.

                            systemctl stop docker

Now that Docker has been stopped, we can use systemd to start the socket.

Note: you may need to restart your machine for your Docker containers to start showing up in Simple Docker UI.

                            Using Simple Docker UI

Installing and deploying an image is remarkably easy. Once you find what you want in the registry, the tool will go out and download all it needs, and then it’ll be installed into your Docker installation. After that you’ll be asked to name the container and customize it, and then it’ll run.

Overall, everything you’d need to do in Docker with the command line can be done in this app in a more efficient and effective way. Sure, it’s a Chrome app, and that makes it far from perfect, but it’s hard to argue that this tool isn’t anything but extremely useful.

If you’ve wanted to try Docker but don’t want to mess with the terminal, this tool is for you. Alternatively, if you do like using Docker with the terminal but you’re looking for something faster, Simple Docker UI might be exactly what you’re looking for.

5 Steps To Keeping A Clean And Organized Office

Whether you’re growing your business or collaborating on a team project, it’s essential to have a workspace that’s organized and relaxing to work in. A neat and tidy space not only helps keep your mind refreshed, but it can also boost your productivity.

Your workspace reflects what’s going on in your brain, and the more organized it is, the more constructive and useful you’ll be. Disorganization and hoarding objects have harmful effects and cause you to have extreme anxiety when making decisions, according to Psychology Today. It can also cause stress, make you feel burned out, reduce your ability to concentrate and magnify negative emotions associated with clutter.

As a way to help avoid some of those harmful effects, there are a few simple steps you can take to organize your workspace and clear your mind.

                            1. Throw out what you don’t need.

The first step is to conduct a workspace audit where you determine what items, paperwork, and supplies you truly need and what you can do without. Take a good look at what’s in your office space. Determine what you use every day, what you use once in a while, and what you never use. Then create separate piles for trash, items you want to keep and those you wish to donate.

Initially, it may seem difficult to get rid of certain items or materials, but if you know you never use them, there is no point in having them. They only add to the mess in your office and your mindset, so you are better off getting rid of them.

                            2. Hide electrical wires and chargers.

Simply hiding the wires in your space will make a huge difference in how clean and neat it is. Communicating with clients in your office when it’s in a state of disarray can be embarrassing. If you know it’s messy, so do others. That’s a clear sign that it is time to take steps that will help you feel better inviting others into your workspace.

It’s handy to use a surge protector to keep all your cords charged to the same outlet so you don’t have wires coming from several places. If your work desk has an open back, put the wires in that opening so when you shut the drawer, they aren’t visible. The goal is to make sure your cords are in an accessible place but don’t draw too much attention to themselves.

                            3. Recycle extra papers.

With how digitized the average workplace has become, there’s not much reason to have tons of paper files lying around your office. Most businesses and companies use apps and online resources to get their work done and don’t need to rely on paper products to accomplish tasks. Unless using paper is a must, try to decrease the amount of paper you use and recycle the paper you no longer need.

                            4. Minimize desk clutter.

Although it’s easy to throw random things on our desks, they are not the equivalent of storage space and shouldn’t be treated as such. This is the place where you’re supposed to work on your career goals and accomplish important tasks, so treat it as such.

With organization comes minimizing what we have and maximizing the space we’re working with. If something is sitting out in the open on your desk and not shoved in the back of a drawer, there’s a good chance it’s useful to you and will enhance your productivity. Use the existing wall space you have to minimize the clutter on your desk. Put up hanging shelves that can hold your must-have items. If you want your items in drawers, buy small storage bins that will hold items in them so you don’t have a bunch of stuff randomly floating around.

                            5. Clean regularly.

Unfortunately, cleaning one time and never again isn’t going to help you stay organized in the long term. You must make cleaning your workspace periodically a conscious habit – much like scheduling emails or attending meetings – so it never goes back to being a cluttered mess.

Pick a frequency that works for you. Tidying up for 15 minutes once a week should be more than enough time to put everything back into place and wipe down your desktop. Try your best not to be lazy about your cleanup, because that’ll leave you with more to do down the road. If something has no use to you or doesn’t liven up your workspace, don’t be afraid to throw it away.

In the end, a key component to cultivating a positive work life is organizing and cleaning up your workspace. A tidy work area will lead to a tidy mind. When you realize how much time you waste by looking for misplaced items and trying to get through the clutter, it’ll be a relief to finally have a space that’s sorted properly.

                            Jump to a specific section:

Step 1: Add the Draw App

Adding the Canva draw app is very easy, here’s how:

Go to one of your existing Canva designs, or a blank canvas

Go to ‘More’ via the left side panel in the editor

Adding the Canva draw app Canva draw app ready to be used

Step 2: Choose your drawing utensil

Canva currently has four different options for drawing utensils:

                            Pen tool

                            Marker tool

                            Glow pen tool

                            Highlighter tool

                            Drawing utensil options

Here’s how each of them looks in action:

How each drawing utensil looks in action

We particularly liked the glow pen as it is has a kind of neon glow effect, but they all look great. We also felt like Bart Simpson putting that graphic together.

Step 3: Choose your settings and get drawing

You can then choose your settings including the size of the stroke, the transparency, and the color:

                            Utensil settings

Once you’re happy with the settings you can start to draw on the canvas. Whether you’re using a drawing tablet, a mouse, or a touchpad you can scribble to your hearts content on the canvas.

Once you’re done scribbling you’ll need to press the ‘Done’ button at the left side of the top panel and that will make that drawing into an element.

                            Finishing your drawing

It’s worth noting that you can use the eraser function before pressing ‘Done’ if you want to make any changes to drawing before finalizing it.

                            Using the eraser

Also if you draw separate things in your drawing they will all become part of the same element once you press ‘Done’.

If you want to create multiple things that become their own element you’ll need to do drawings for each one:

One drawn element Separate drawn elements

Step 4: Add effects and animation

Once you’ve completed a drawing, it becomes a graphic element and can be customized in the same way that you could any other graphic element.

This means you can add effects and animation to it.

For example, you could add a ‘Glow’ shadow effect around a word that you drew:

                            Adding the ‘Glow’ shadow effect

You can also add animation to your drawn elements.

We added the ‘Pop’ animation to our drawings and created the cheeky video:

Step 5: Copy drawn elements to other designs

You can also copy your drawn elements and paste them into some of your other designs:
