WhatsApp is the most popular instant messaging cross-platform app that is being used for text chats, voice chats, voice calls as well as video calls by over 1.3 Billion people around the world. It is easy to use, and that is one of the reasons why it became so popular among users.

VPNs can help you in unblocking WhatsApp censorship in any country. However, not all the VPNs work the same. Authoritarian states have even blocked VPNs making it challenging to use WhatsApp without switching to a new VPN, every other day.

The easy to solution to this problem is to find a VPN provider who has thousands of server in different countries and can route your Internet traffic through the countries that do not have any restriction on WhatsApp.

In this article, we take a look at the best VPNs to unblock WhatsApp so that you can get back in touch with family and friends through WhatsApp.

Unlimited bandwidth

Use PIA on 10 devices simultaneously

Encrypt your data to ensure maximum protection

Use over 3000 servers in over 45 countries

Stay anonymous with IP masking

Slightly dated UI but still very easy to use

Even though some countries have tried to restrict internet access and what apps you can use, a VPN like Private Internet Access can allow you to bypass these restrictions with ease. Once you’ve signed up and installed the client, just select one of the thousands of servers and start browsing.

PIA’s military-grade encryption ensures that your data remains safe, being passed through a secure VPN tunnel and even in the event that it is intercepted, it would be unreadable by anyone.

Moreover, you can try PIA and see how well it protects your data and helps you bypass geo-restrictions with the guarantee that if you’re not satisfied with the results, you have a 30-day period to get reimbursed. We’re sure you’ll love using it, but the safety net is there if you’re unsure.

NordVPN is fast and reliable. Slightly less expensive than ExpressVPN, it is based out of Panama making it the safest of the lot, and it comes with all the essential features to ensure your security and privacy online.

NordVPN is fast and maintains the speed consistently. On a 100Mbps connection, we got the following result on the EU server.

Upload Speed: 48 Mbps

Download Speed: 76 Mbps

We tested it for DNS leak and did not find any instance where it has been found unprotected.

Other add-ons that come with NordVPN include IP hiding for anonymous surfing, Kill Switch that disconnects the Internet if the VPN is interrupted and you can connect up to six devices at a time with one account which is better than 3 device limitation on ExpressVPN.

NordVPN has over 4800 servers located in 60+ countries which is good but not on par with ExpressVPN.

NordVPN is still expensive for monthly plans, but if you opt for yearly plans, the charges fall sharply. It also comes with a 30-days money-back guarantee.

Not as many servers as some other providers

Surfshark has fast speeds and stable, secure connections. It’s available in over 50 countries with 800+ servers to choose from. This VPN provider does not restrict the use of torrents and provides you with the ability to access an extensive network of Netflix libraries as well as WhatsApp, Amazon Prime, and other popular applications.

You won’t see any skimping on encryption with this VPN. It offers the latest 256-bit technology and includes a no-logging policy so that only you know about your activity when you’re surfing or downloading a torrent. A kill switch will keep you anonymous if the server you’re using ever gets disconnected.

You’ll find the interface at all of the apps intuitive and easy to use, and speaking of apps, you’ll also find that Surfshark has done an excellent job providing private access to the internet for users who want to utilize all types of platforms, which range from Windows and macOS to Android, iOS, and Linux.

Surfshark doesn’t have a free trial, but it does have a 30-day guarantee that you’ll get your money back if you’re not happy with the VPN service. You can choose from three different pricing options when signing up for a subscription.

Blazing fast VPN servers

Cross-platform support

Netflix and WhatsApp unblocking support

Strong encryption

Expensive monthly plans

Only 3 devices of the simultaneous connection

ExpressVPN is among the most recommended VPNs on the Internet, and that is for all the right reasons. The company is located in British Virginia; it is a fast, secure, and feature-rich VPN that allows you to unblock services like Netflix and WhatsApp with ease.

ExpressVPN has a strict no-logging policy and comes with an IP hiding feature. We also did not detect any data leak or DNS leak in our testing.

When tested on a 100 Mbps connection, ExpressVPN offered exceptional speed with the following stats :

Download Speed: 82 Mbps

Upload Speed: 52 Mbps

Server: EU

On the privacy and security front, ExpressVPN comes with features like Kill-Switch, strong AES-256 encryption based on OpenVPN tunneling protocol, Linux support, and more.

You can unblock not only WhatsApp but also Geo-restricted services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and BBC Network, etc. It also has torrenting support and compatible with TOR.

On the flip side, you can only connect up to 3 devices at a time using one account which can be a deal-breaker if someone wants to share it in a group. The monthly plans are also expensive when compared to other VPNs.

You can use the free trial on your smartphone to test it out, and it also comes with a 30-days money-back guarantee, just in case you are not satisfied with the service.

ExpressVPN can keep your privacy safe, even while using WhatsApp.

US-based company

If you want to keep your identity under wraps, IPVanish can help you do it with its state of the art encryption and security protocols, and it’s strict no logging policy.

However, since the company is located in the US, you need to take the word of IPVanish that it won’t share your browsing data with the intelligence agencies.

IPVanish is fast. On 100 Mbps connection, we recorded the following result.

Download Speed: 82 Mbps

Upload Speed: 43 Mbps

The speed is better than CyberGhost and on par with ExpressVPN. But, if you use any US based server, the speed drastically goes down to 33 Mbps for download and 20 Mbps for upload which is also the case with other VPNs.

The user interface is not the best of the lot, but doable. The users can select the servers based on country and city manually or let IPVanish find the best one for them. You can also view the upload and download usage stats through the app.

IPVanish does not log user data. It comes with the strong AES-256 bit encryption which is currently the best in the business.

While IPVanish does support torrenting and Netflix unblocking, it does not come with Tor compatibility.

IPVanish monthly plans are lower than any other VPNs mentioned until now. It also comes with a 7-days money-back guarantee. With all the features on offer, IPVanish definitely worth a try but only for those who are okay with their VPN provider being located in the USA.

Want to feel that your privacy is safe while using WhatsApp? Give IPVanish a try.

Pricey monthly plans

Hotspot Shield is a free VPN that you can download on your smartphone as well as on your computer. It also comes with a premium Elite version which costs $12.99 per month.

Hotspot Shield is popular and has over 650 Million around the world making it one of the most popular VPN clients in the market today.

These issues do not exist in the premium Elite version. What sets Hotspot Shield apart from other VPNs is its speed.

We tested the VPN using a 100 Mbps connection and got the following results for the EU server.

Download Speed: 92 Mbps

Upload Speed: 45 Mbps

The speed is even better on the UK server and marginally slower on Asian servers. However, for the US server, the speed is not good.

The user interface of Hotspot Shield is one of the best things about this VPN client. It displays the connection status, connected server and country, IP address along with up and down data usage stats.

You can download torrents and unblock Netflix using the VPN. However, it does not support Tor at the time.

Hotspot Shield is recommended if you want the fastest VPN for a short time and also if you are looking for a free VPN. It also comes with a money-back guarantee in case you bought the Elite plan and did not like the service.

Apart from state authorities, WhatsApp is also blocked by educational institutions and private companies to prevent the employees and students from using WhatsApp.

As of now, there are at least 13 countries in the world, where the state authorities have completely banned WhatsApp for various reasons while some countries have only blocked the voice calling features of the app.

We have included VPNs that offer robust security and privacy features such as 256-AES encryption and Kill switch to keep your connection private and prevent any data leak while also allowing you to bypass any restrictions from the ISPs.

From smartphones to tablets to laptops and everything internet-connected in between, most of us rely on multiple devices every single day—all the more reason we should rely on a VPN. To stay online all the time, you may wind up relying on public Wi-Fi or a connection through work or school, which often isn’t as secure as you might think. If you’re tired of worrying about trackers and hackers potentially sifting through your data, you should consider using a virtual private network, or VPN, to hide your online presence and make it harder for companies and bad actors to find your data. Some VPNs specialize in phones or PCs, but the best VPNs for multiple devices can protect your entire tech arsenal.

What is a VPN?

When you surf the internet, you transmit certain information about yourself to the sites you visit, including your location. A virtual private network (VPN) is an online service that hides your digital identity from online utilities like Google or Facebook that wish to collect and sell your data, as well as from hackers and scammers. A VPN acts like a mask that your computer puts on before it walks into a party. Websites can tell that you’re there and that you’re wearing a mask, but they can’t see any of the personal information that they normally would.

Each of the following VPNs encrypts the data that you send, and most of them have a “no-log” policy, which means that they do not keep any record of your activity. Some even allow you to mask your identity from the VPN server itself. While you might not care if a random person knows about your online shopping habits, you certainly don’t want them to know the password to your bank account.

VPNs also let you set a virtual location, allowing you to appear as if you are browsing from another country. This allows you to look at the many international versions of sites like Netflix, which may offer different content to other parts of the world.

When it comes to finding a VPN that supports many devices, the good news is that most VPNs have apps that allow you to easily modify your phone or tablet’s internet connection. However, the quality of those apps does vary somewhat, as we’ll go over in the next few sections.

For more information on how VPNs work and how to set one up, please check out our full-length guide on how to use a VPN.

How we picked the best VPNs for multiple devices

As a professional tech writer for almost a decade, I’ve personally tested many of the most popular VPNs for friends and my own personal use, and I know how they perform. To make these recommendations, we consulted online guides, reviews, specs, and spoke to several information security experts. Thanks to this research, we know which VPNs are worth your hard-earned cash, and which ones are better left in the bowels of Google.

Things to consider when buying a VPN for multiple devices Why do I need a VPN?

When you access the internet from your phone, tablet, or computer, you’re transmitting information about yourself, whether you like it or not. Most companies collect this information and track your activity across the internet to help them sell you products. Some bad actors will try and use it to target you for identity theft scams, such as phishing schemes.

If you use public Wi-Fi often for work, you should keep in mind that most public Wi-Fi networks are not secure. Whether you’re relaxing in your dorm or enjoying a cup of coffee at your favorite cafe, public Wi-Fi often leaves you unprotected against scammers who want the password to your Amazon account. Using a VPN in these situations makes it much harder for people to grab your data, even when it may be vulnerable.

How many connections do you really need?

In a perfect world, a VPN would provide perfect protection to every single internet-enabled device you own. Realistically, most services won’t allow that. Even if they did, you probably don’t really need that level of protection.

When picking your VPN, take a moment and think about which devices need extra security. Laptops, desktops, tablets, and phones are the most vulnerable because they connect to an internet browser, as well as email phishing scams. Game consoles like a PlayStation 5 or a Nintendo Switch are far less likely to fall victim to malware. Most VPNs that work across many kinds of computers do put a cap on the number of devices you can protect. Most popular services will have plans that can go up to 5-10 devices, though some services offer plans to protect an unlimited number of devices.

If you want a subscription package that supports you and your entire family’s massive constellation of tech toys at the same time, you will only have a couple of options. Alternatively, if you just need to protect your three primary devices—a PC, a phone, and tablet, for example—you can safely go with any of our picks.

Killer apps

VPNs designed for multidevice use should offer a free app that you use to mask your tablet or phone activity. Not all of them are easy to navigate, but they allow you to protect your mobile devices before you log on, not after.

Speed and cost

Using a VPN will always make your internet at least a little bit slower. When you use a VPN, you’re forcing your information to make a couple of stops on the way between you and whatever website you’re looking at. Since you’re routing your browsing through another server, the sheer fact of that distance means that it’ll take a little longer to load your sites.

The best VPNs will only slow you down the slightest bit. Others may slow it down quite a bit. This is one of a few reasons why it’s always worth it to pay for a well-known VPN rather than use a sketchy “free” alternative.

Reputation is everything

While many VPNs like to vaunt their latest and greatest technology as a must-have innovation, the truth is that most of the big VPNs offer extremely similar services for very similar prices.

When you connect to a VPN, you’re giving that provider an inside look at your browsing habits. As such, we only picked VPNs that are well-known, reliable brand names that have proven their worth over the years. The usual VPNs might be a little more expensive than the new kids on the block, but using a no-name provider could theoretically be worse than using none at all.

Most trustworthy VPN services charge between $10 and $15 per month to use their platforms. If you’re looking to get the best bang for your buck, we highly recommend paying up-front for a year or two of service, as that will significantly reduce the cost of admission. In picking the best VPNs, we weighed the cost of the service heavily, as well as whether or not those premium prices resulted in more simultaneous connections.

The best VPNs for multiple devices: Reviews & Recommendations

Hopefully, you now feel comfortable poking around and picking a VPN to keep your daily browsing data safe. If you’re looking for a VPN that can cover all your fun electronic toys without much of a hassle, our recommendations are a great place to start.

Best overall: NordVPN

Why it made the cut: NordVPN delivers everything you would want from a VPN provider, including thousands of servers, six simultaneous connections, and ultra-reliable service.

Server count: Over 5,500 servers in 59 countries

Connection limit: Supports 6 device connections at once

Home country: Panama

Free/trial version: None

Standard plan price: $11.99 per month, $59.98 per year, or $126.96 every two years

Trusted brand name

Extremely reliable

Many, many servers

Fancy bells and whistles you actually want

Only six simultaneous connections

Fairly expensive

If you’re thinking about using a VPN, you’ve almost certainly heard of NordVPN, and that’s for good reason. Pound-for-pound, it’s arguably the best VPN provider on the market. Nord boasts thousands of servers in dozens of countries, as well as competitive speeds worldwide. NordVPN also offers dedicated IPs for an additional monthly fee, which is useful for users who want to hide the fact that they’re using a VPN at all.

Though the brand’s reputation took a hit after a 2023 server breach, it still remains one of the most trusted providers in the space. NordVPN’s mobile app is clean and intuitive, and it supports every device you have lying around the house. If you’re looking for more than just a basic VPN service, Nord also offers a data breach scanner, a password manager, and encrypted cloud storage for additional rates.

Best for unlimited connections: Surfshark

Server count: 3,200 servers in 95 countries

Connection limit: Unlimited

Home country: The Netherlands

Free/trial version: None

Standard plan price: $12.95 per month, $47.88 per year, or $59.76 for two years

Unlimited connections on one account

Competitive speeds

Extremely good value

Less well-known than alternatives

No extra bells and whistles

Surfshark is the new kid on the VPN block, but don’t let that fool you. Though it makes our list for offering unlimited simultaneous connections—making it an extremely good option for large households full of technophiles—it’s a very strong service across the board. Its $60, two-year subscription is one of the best deals you’ll find in the space, and Surfshark is consistently ranked high among the fastest VPN services out there. Its mobile app is also quite snazzy.

Surfshark’s major downside is its server network, which is significantly smaller than its well-known competition. That said, 3,000+ servers is nothing to sneeze at. Meanwhile, the ability to access servers in 95 countries gives you far more masking options than most providers. Surfshark is arguably the best deal in VPN-land and is definitely the best choice for users with more than six devices.

Best for dedicated IP: CyberGhost

Server count: 7,900 servers in 91 countries

Connection limit: Supports 7 device connections at once

Home country: Romania

Free/trial version: None

Price: $12.99 per month, $51.48 per year, or $78 every two years

Visually underwhelming

No independent security audits since 2012

Some VPN users prefer to pay their provider a little extra for a dedicated IP address in order to fool websites into thinking that they aren’t using a VPN at all. If you don’t pay for a dedicated IP, your traffic will show up as a different IP every time you connect and many websites have filters for popular VPN server IPs. If you want to hide the fact that you’re hiding your info, we recommend CyberGhost, a fully featured VPN provider with all the bells and whistles you need to take control of your cybersecurity.

CyberGhost’s dedicated IP service costs about $4 a month, which is not insignificant. This service ensures that you will always show the same unique IP address when you’re using CyberGhost, which will likely be enough to fool streaming services like Netflix into unblocking you. No more Captchas when casually Googling, either. However, there is a small catch: CyberGhost will issue a unique access token that you use to log into your unique IP. The company keeps no record of this token, but that means you have to keep track of it yourself. If you lose it, you’ll have to purchase another subscription to get another dedicated IP.

Even if you don’t want a dedicated IP—or you’re afraid you’ll lose the token—CyberGhost is an extremely competitive VPN provider. It’s one of the fastest VPNs out there according to speed tests, and its plans are significantly less expensive than some of its competitors.

Best app: ExpressVPN

Server count: Over 3,000 servers in 94 countries

Connection limit: Supports 5 device connections at once

Home country: British Virgin Islands

Free/trial version: None

Standard plan price: $12.95 per month, or $99.95 per year

Best app UI and usability

Very reliable

Trusted name

Only five connections at once

NordVPN and ExpressVPN are effectively the Coke and Pepsi of the VPN world. Like its counterpart, ExpressVPN is a well-established brand that gives you everything you expect from a premium VPN, including fast speeds, a widespread network, and a variety of extra services that you tack on.

Express offers only five simultaneous connections, which is significantly less than some of our other picks. However, if you tend to stick with only two or three devices, ExpressVPN is a premium provider that covers the basics quite well for everyday people who don’t want to be burdened with overly technical details.

Best for families: Private Internet Access

Private Internet Access

Server count: Over 28,000 servers in 84 countries

Connection limit: Supports 10 device connections at once

Home country: United States

Free/trial version: None

Standard plan price: $12.00 per month, $90 per year, or $56 for two years

10 simultaneous connections

Ridiculous server count

Good UI

Very reasonable price

Not the fastest

Doesn’t stand out in any category

Private Internet Access is one of the most popular VPNs out there thanks to its compelling price point and feature set. For one thing, PIA boasts a truly absurd server count—over 28,000 worldwide—as well as a simultaneous connection cap that’s more than double some of its competitors. PIA is also regularly discounted for price points that you rarely see in the VPN space, making it a good option for families who want to make every dollar count.

While PIA is certainly a good VPN, it doesn’t necessarily excel in any particular way. Its dedicated IP services aren’t as well-regarded as CyberGhost and NordVPN. Its speed doesn’t compete with many of the major platforms, either. It has standard VPN features like split tunneling, a killswitch, and optional antivirus software, but nothing that sets it apart.

All in all, Private Internet Access is an extremely respectable VPN that doesn’t quite have the brand recognition of its bigger competitors. However, it’s a reliable alternative that costs less than most of our other picks and will protect a lot of devices simultaneously.

Best budget: ProtonVPN

Server count: Over 1,700 servers in 63 countries (premium)

Connection limit: Supports 10 device connections at once (premium)

Home country: Switzerland

Free/trial version: Yes, speed-capped

Standard plan price: $10.52 per month, $75.69 per year, or $126.10 every two years (billed in Euro)

A decent free tier that actually works

Supports 10 simultaneous connections

Easy to upgrade to premium

Limited feature-set

Premium is expensive for what it is

As you might expect, ProtonVPN’s free plan is quite limited compared to its premium competitors. You can only choose from three servers, it’s limited to one device at a time, and Proton blocks popular VPN use cases like torrenting and streaming. As such, if you really want a VPN that supports multiple devices, you’ll need to shell out for its premium services.

The good news is that ProtonVPN makes it very easy to upgrade from its free plan to a paid option. It offers 10 simultaneous connections, which is more than enough for even large households. However, it does falter when compared to other premium competitors like NordVPN and ExpressVPN. It also lacks premium features that power users might expect, such as support for dedicated IP addresses.

The truth is that there is no good free option if you want to use a VPN across many devices. ProtonVPN gives the closest thing: A free taste of its services before you invest.

FAQs Q: How many devices can use one VPN?

Generally speaking, the number of devices you can use on one VPN account is determined by the VPN provider itself. Most VPN providers have a cap of between 5-10 devices allowed on a single account simultaneously, though some allow an unlimited number.

Q: Do I need a separate VPN for each device?

No. All of the VPN services on our list allow you to protect at least five devices with a single account.

Q: Can the police track a VPN?

In most circumstances, neither law enforcement nor private companies can track live VPN traffic—this is why people use them. However, if you commit a crime and a law enforcement agency requests data from the VPN provider, some providers may give the data that they request. Some VPN providers have a strict “no logs” policy, which means they don’t store any information on their users. In that situation, the VPN service wouldn’t have any information to give law enforcement, even if they were legally compelled to do so.

6 Ways To Send Whatsapp Message Without Saving Number

Usually, in order to message someone on WhatsApp, you must first save their phone number on your phone. This takes a long time and results in the unnecessary addition of contacts if you only need to text them once or twice. Thankfully, there are many ways to send WhatsApp messages without adding the number to your contact list. Let’s check the different methods.

Note: This method works on both mobile and computer.

You should now see the “Continue to chat” button. Tap on it to open the chat thread on WhatsApp.

If the number isn’t a WhatsApp user, you will get a message that the number doesn’t exist or something similar.

Pro tip: I usually text chúng tôi to the WhatsApp chat thread that I have created with myself followed by tapping on the sent link. This initiates a WhatsApp chat thread with the phone number specified in the link.

If you own a business, you can use this method to allow your customers to directly message you on WhatsApp without saving your number. You can even add a pre-filled message that will automatically appear in the chat.

2. Third-Party Websites

While the method described above is extremely simple in practice, it may appear to be laborious. If you don’t want to go the extra mile, you can use third-party websites to send WhatsApp messages without saving a contact.

Let’s check the steps:

The WhatsApp chat thread will open with the number you provided in step 2. You may now begin chatting with the individual without saving their phone number.

Some other websites that you can use are:

3. Third-Party Apps

You can install third-party apps on your Android phone or iPhone, similar to websites, that will allow you to text someone on WhatsApp without adding them to your contacts list.

Follow these steps for the Easy Messsage app:

Install the Easy Message app on Android or iOS.

Type or copy-paste the number in international format.

Hit the “Start chat in WhatsApp” button to open the WhatsApp chat thread with the unsaved number.

4. Siri Shortcut (iPhone Only)

On iPhone, you can use the Siri shortcuts to WhatsApp people without saving their number.

Install the Apple Shortcuts app on your iPhone.

Next, install the WhatsApp to Non Contact shortcut on your iPhone. For that, simply tap on the link on your iPhone and hit the “Add shortcut” button. Two other similar shortcuts to try are WhatsApp Unsaved Number and WhatsApp Thread.

Tip: If you face any issue while installing the shortcut, learn how to install third-party Siri shortcuts on iPhone. Also, check out the best Siri Shortcuts for power users.

Next, open the Apple Shortcuts app and you will see the newly installed shortcut. Tap on it to run it.

A pop-up will appear. Tap on “Choose recipient” and type the number in the international format to whom you want to message.

The WhatsApp chat thread with that particular number will open.

You can make the process easier by adding the shortcut to the home screen of your iPhone. For that, open the Shortcuts app and tap on the three-dot icon on the “WhatsApp to Non Contact” shortcut.

Press the three-bar icon at the top.

Select “Add to Home Screen”.

Finally, tap on “Add” in the upper right corner.

Now, whenever you want to message someone on WhatsApp without adding them to your iPhone contacts, simply tap on the shortcut icon on the home screen.

Press the “Choose Recipient” button.

Then type the phone number to start a WhatsApp chat thread.

5. From Call History

You can use Truecaller app (an alternative Phone app) to send WhatsApp messages to unsaved numbers that are in your call history using the following steps:

Open the Truecaller app on your Android or iOS phone.

Find the number whom you want to message. Tap on the arrow next to their number/name to view the details.

Scroll down and tap on the WhatsApp button to send a WhatsApp message to that number.

6. From a WhatsApp Group

You do not need to use any of the methods described above if you want to text a number that you saw in a WhatsApp group without saving it. You can directly message such a number from WhatsApp itself in two ways as shown below.

Tap on the number present above the message sent by the user in the group chat.

Select “Message” to open the chat thread automatically.

Alternatively, tap on the group name at the top to open the group info screen. Scroll down to see the list of participants.

Tap on “View all” or “See all”.

Tap on the number to whom you want to message and hit the “Message” button.

Frequently Asked Questions Can you create WhatsApp groups without saving numbers?

You can create a WhatsApp group only with people that are in your contacts. However, you can create and share WhatsApp group links so that anyone with the link can join the group.

Can you WhatsApp call someone who isn’t added to your contacts?

Yes, you can create or join a WhatsApp call even if the person isn’t saved in your contacts list.

How can I save an unsaved WhatsApp number to my contacts?

Open the chat thread in WhatsApp and tap on the number at the top to open the chat info screen. Tap on “Save” (Android) or “Add to contacts” (iPhone) to add it to your contacts list.

5 Best Cbr Readers For Mac You Can Use

Comic Books have always been a beloved part of modern entertainment along with movies, TV shows, and novels. However, earlier they only used to serve a niche market, with only the truest of the fans. But, things have changed since the last few years. Movies based on comics have been reigning supreme on the box offices around the world, and now even the mainstream consumers are interested in reading them. To the uninitiated, digital comic books generally come in a CBR or CBZ format. These contain comic book pages in image formats like PNG, JPEG, BMP, and GIF. These pages are stored in compressed archive format, so that a reader can view them in a sequential manner. To open these files, you need apps which can read these formats.

1. YAC Reader

For me, YAC Reader has always been the best comic book reader available on Mac. Apart from Mac, it is also available for Windows and Linux. YAC Reader is the complete package as far as comic readers are concerned. It supports a wide variety of file types including RAR, ZIP, CBR, CBZ, TAR, and PDF among others. It also supports various view formats. You can view your comics in a single or double page mode, full-screen mode or you can customize the size as per your liking. You can change the background colour and also change the page scrolling effects.

Install: (Free)

2. Simple Comic

Simple Comic has been one of the best CBR readers for Mac since so long that I don’t even remember installing it. This used to be one of the first software I installed on a new Mac. For now, YAC Reader might have taken the first spot, but that does not mean that this one is any less. It also supports all the major file formats and you can view your comics in single/double page mode, full-screen mode or the thumbnail mode. The thumbnail mode comes in really handy when you want to quickly jump between the pages. One of my favourite features is the capture tool which allows you to take a screenshot of a page and directly saves it in JPG format. It makes it very easy to share your favourite pages with your friends.

Install: (Free)

3. DrawnStrips Reader

This is the first paid app on our list. It’s really hard to justify including a paid app on the list when the first two spots are held by free apps. So, there are only two reasons you should consider while making the decision to buy this app. Firstly, this app was designed keeping the retina display on the Mac in mind. This means that when you are reading a comic on Macs with retina displays, this will give you the best possible picture quality. Secondly, this is one of the few comic reading apps which truly goes full-screen. There’s no top bar, no navigation symbols, not anything. Once you go full-screen, your comics are all that you will see. This together with its higher quality for retina displays will provide you with a truly immersive environment. If that’s important, you should surely buy this one.

How To Use Whatsapp Web On Desktop And Chrome

If you have particularly chatty people on your WhatsApp list, you’ll know how annoying it can be to converse with them using a mobile keyboard. You can’t really get the gossip grapevine (or more important messages) going at a measly 20 words per minute. Thankfully, there is a way to use WhatsApp on your PC so that you can type with your hardware keyboard and really express yourself.

The app used to require your phone to be switched on and connected to the Internet, but as of an update in late 2023, this is no longer a requirement, and you can connect to WhatsApp Web on up to five devices without having to have your phone on (though you’ll need your phone to make that initial connection).

Before We Start

It’s worth noting that you can’t use WhatsApp on your PC without first setting it up on your mobile phone. As you’ll soon see, it’s impossible to use WhatsApp on a desktop PC without having the mobile app on your phone.

As such, if you don’t have a phone with WhatsApp installed, you’ll find it difficult to follow these steps. If you do, be sure to have it on hand before you get started.

How to Set Up WhatsApp on Your Desktop

If you want WhatsApp as a desktop app, you can download it from the download page. At the time of writing, you can download it for both Mac and Windows.

Once you download and install WhatsApp, boot it up. You’ll be greeted with the following screen.

This screen tells you everything you need to know to get started, but in case you need a little help finding all the settings, continue with this guide.

Go to your phone and open WhatsApp. Tap the three dots at the top right, then “Linked devices.”

Once your phone scans the code, your computer will automatically sign you in and show your contacts.

How to Set Up WhatsApp in Chrome

If you can’t download WhatsApp on your PC, you can access WhatsApp on the Web. This works identically to the PC version, except it’s a website instead of a downloadable app.

Setting up WhatsApp in Chrome is even easier than on desktop. Visit WhatsApp Web, then follow the steps as directed. These steps are identical to the desktop version, so refer to the information above for the full guide and screenshots.

What WhatsApp Web Can and Can’t Do

Unfortunately, this Web version of WhatsApp doesn’t contain all the features of the mobile app. For instance, you can’t make audio or video calls via the web app. You can’t export your Whatsapp chat history either.

However, other features, such as changing profile pictures, setting a status image, and attaching images, are still there. They may be in different locations than on the mobile app, but they’re there.

Learning What’s Up with WhatsApp

If you like talking to people on WhatsApp but are not a big fan of mobile keyboards, you don’t have to be stuck on your phone all the time. Now you know how to put WhatsApp on your PC, whether it’s via the official desktop app or the Web.
